ABSTRACT

Last years saw a series of publications published in different medical editions, concerning an application sphere of physiotherapy. These publications cast doubt on reflexotherapy as an independent medical discipline. New term physiopuncture was proposed in such publications, actually it is a try terminologically and in practice to substitute acupuncture and its methods (i.e. reflexotherapy) by an other medical specialty physiotherapy. The article does not call physiotherapy in question as a specialty itself, but conclude, that such forcible attribution of the reflexotherapy's methods to physiotherapy's is not acceptable. All physical influences on the acupuncture's points (laserpuncture, electropuncture, shortwave frequency puncture and others) even that being used barely through metameric principle in accordance with WHO recommendations should be referred to the sphere of reflexotherapy.

ABSTRACT

New scientific data about vascular encephalopathy, as well as its definition, classification, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, diagnostic and differential diagnostic runs contrary in the neurological literature are presented. The review represents current data on the vascular encephalopathy. The obtained results allow to judge about baroreflex regulation, autonomic regulation of heart-vascular system in development of this pathology.

ABSTRACT

Insufficient effectiveness of medicamentous therapy of local hyperkineses necessitated quest for other treatment options. In view of pathogenetic features of this pathological process we have chosen reflexotherapy to be instituted in our patients: auriculopuncture, electro-corporal- and acupuncture which have been shown to be expedient and effective in treating 65 patients with local hyperkinesis (blepharospasm, facial paraspasm, writer's spasm, spasmodic torticollis). Positive findings from clinical and paraclinical methods of investigation corroborate the results of the treatments administered.

ABSTRACT

With the purpose of studying the condition of the neuromuscular apparatus, an electroneuromuscular myographic investigation was conducted in 36 patients with freshly detected type I diabetes mellitus in the state of compensation with no neurologic complaints. The study made showed 100% affection of the peripheral portion of the nervous system (subclinical form of polyneuropathy) which has been shown to be more manifest in the lower extremites. The secured results corroborate the symmetry theory of affection of the peripheral nervous system in type I diabetes mellitus.

ABSTRACT

The use of osteoperiosteal electropuncture and laser puncture combined in a complex treatment of 162 patients with lumbosacral osteochondrosis resulted in dissipation or apparent decrement in clinical manifestations of the trouble. In patients with lumboischialgia, there was an improvement in the pain syndrome as evidenced by scores on global painfulness (2.3 +/- 0.45 versus 30.2 +/- 0.62 before the treatment) in patients with degree IV pain. Less intensive pain (degree II-III as to I. P. Antonov) has gone away completely. In radicular pain syndrome, results on pain relief were much lower (P < 0.05), those on total vertebral and extravertebral painfulness much better (2.4 +/- 0.2 versus 17.3 +/- 0.7 and 1.2 +/- 0.6 versus 30.4 +/- 1.82 respectively). The secured results of treatment remained stable during two years.

ABSTRACT

The authors examined 56 patients suffering of multiple sclerosis who were treated with prednisolone and Proper-Myl. The patients showed changes of the immunological reactivity, in particular, those receiving prednisolone in combination with Proper-Myl. To improve the immunological state of these patients the authors recommend to use bee stings, polyosol and bee pollen.

ABSTRACT

Long-term investigation of 64 patients with subarachnoidal hemorrhages (SH), 24 of which had subsequently died, and 2 series of experiments of animals with a single or repeated intracysternal infusion of various doses of autologous blood, yielded the description of the response of the meninges and ventricles at different terms after SH. The brain ventricles were measured by axial computer tomography and echoencephalography. A index of CSF resorption resistance and CSF pressure were determined. The cerebral meninges from experimental animals and autopsied human ones underwent the histological examination. The authors discuss the mechanisms of development of liquor dynamic disorders at different terms after SH.

ABSTRACT

To try to obviate the difficulties encountered in making the differential diagnosis of the hyperkinetic form of multiple sclerosis (MS) and hepatocerebral dystrophy (HCD), the authors performed a biochemical study characterizing liver function in 27 patients with MS attended by hyperkineses and in 14 patients with HCD. In addition to clinical symptoms, patients with the hyperkinetic form of MS, contrary to those with HCD, had biochemical parameters characterizing the differences of liver function in these diseases. These findings facilitate the differential diagnosis between the hyperkinetic form of MS and HCD.
