ABSTRACT

Myocardial fibrosis is an important factor in the progression of cardiovascular diseases. However, there is still no universal lifetime method of myocardial fibrosis assessment that has a high prognostic significance. The aim of the study was to determine the significance of ventricular endomyocardial biopsies for the assessment of myocardial fibrosis and to identify the severity of myocardial fibrosis in different cardiovascular diseases. Material and Methods: Endomyocardial biopsies (EMBs) of 20 patients with chronic lymphocytic myocarditis (CM), endomyocardial fragments obtained during septal reduction of 21 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), and 36 patients with a long history of hypertensive and ischemic heart disease (HHD + IHD) were included in the study. The control group was formed from EMBs taken on 12-14 days after heart transplantation (n = 28). Also, for one patient without clinical and morphological data for cardiovascular pathology, postmortem myocardial fragments were taken from typical EMB and septal reduction sites. The relative area of fibrosis was calculated as the ratio of the total area of collagen fibers to the area of the whole biopsy. Endocardium and subendocardial fibrosis were not included in the total biopsy area. Results: The relative fibrosis area in the EMBs in the CM patient group was 5.6 [3.3; 12.6]%, 11.1 [6.6; 15.9]% in the HHD + IHD patient group, 13.4 [8.8; 16.7]% in the HCM patient group, and 2.7 [1.5; 4.6]% in the control group. When comparing the fibrosis area of the CM patients in repeat EMBs, it was found that the fibrosis area in the first EMBs was 7.6 [4.8; 12.0]%, and in repeat EMBs, it was 5.3 [3.2; 7.6]%. No statistically significant differences were found between the primary and repeat EMBs (p = 0.15). In ROC analysis, the area of fibrosis in the myocardium of 1.1% (or lower than one) was found to be highly specific for the control group of patients compared to the study patients. Conclusions: EMB in the assessment of myocardial fibrosis has a questionable role because of the heterogeneity of fibrotic changes in the myocardium.

ABSTRACT

Usually the central executive is considered as a single capacity in the insight studies which leads to inconsistent results on the link between the central executive of working memory and insight. We suppose a more detailed view on the process of insight solution in which various executive functions could be important at different solution stages: updating is necessary to build a problem's representation, inhibition-to overcome the impasse, shifting-to restructure the problem's representation. These assumptions were not confirmed in an experiment via dual-task paradigm and cognitive load. We did not find the relation between executive functions and solution stages, but we demonstrated that the more complexity of dual-task, the more cognitive load in problem solving. Moreover, the highest load of executive functions is observed at the end of insight solution. We speculate that the loading occurs either due to decrease of the free space in working memory storage systems, or due to a resource-intensive event (for example, representational change).

ABSTRACT

Vinyl-addition polynorbornenes are of great interest as versatile templates for the targeted design of polymer materials with desired properties. These polymers possess rigid and saturated backbones, which provide them with high thermal and chemical stability as well as high glass transition temperatures. Vinyl-addition polymers from norbornenes with bromoalkyl groups are widely used as precursors of anion exchange membranes; however, high-molecular-weight homopolymers from such monomers are often difficult to prepare. Herein, we report the systematic study of vinyl-addition polymerization of norbornenes with various bromoalkyl groups on Pd-catalysts bearing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands ((NHC)Pd-systems). Norbornenes with different lengths of hydrocarbon linker (one, two, and four CH2 groups) between the bicyclic norbornene moiety and the bromine atom were used as model monomers, while single- and three-component (NHC)Pd-systems were applied as catalysts. In vinyl-addition polymerization, the reactivity of the investigated monomers varied substantially. The relative reactivity of these monomers was assessed in copolymerization experiments, which showed that the closer the bromine is to the norbornene double-bond, the lower the monomer's reactivity. The most reactive monomer was the norbornene derivative with the largest substituent (with the longest linker). Tuning the catalyst's nature and the conditions of polymerization, we succeeded in synthesizing high-molecular-weight homopolymers from norbornenes with bromoalkyl groups (Mn up to 1.4 × 106). The basic physico-chemical properties of the prepared polymers were studied and considered together with the results of vinyl-addition polymerization.

ABSTRACT

Myxofibrosarcoma is one of the most rare tumors of the heart. Surgical resection is the principal method of treatment; however, in some cases, radical removal of the tumor is not possible. Here, we present a case of heart transplant in a patient who experienced recurrent myxofibrosarcoma of the left atrium and examine the morphological features of this tumor. A 40-year-old female patient presented for treatment for heart failure of a high functional class. An examination revealed a tumor in the left atrial cavity, which was subsequently surgically removed. Morphological examination revealed an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor. After 2 years, the patient's tumor recurred. The tumor was removed, and a morphological study again diagnosed myxofibrosarcoma of the heart. A year later, recurrence was again diagnosed. Instrumental examination determined that the tumor had incurred into the mitral valve and possibly spread to the myocardium. Tumor resection was not possible, and the need to perform a heart transplant was determined. The given case contributes to the practical conclusion that heart transplant contributes to an increase in the life expectancy for patients with inoperable cases of cardiac sarcoma.

ABSTRACT

An emergence of evidence suggests that severe COVID-19 is associated with an increased risk of developing breast and gastrointestinal cancers. The aim of this research was to assess the risk of heart tumors development in patients who have had COVID-19. METHODS: A comparative analysis of 173 heart tumors was conducted between 2016 and 2023. Immunohistochemical examination with antibodies against spike SARS-CoV-2 was performed on 21 heart tumors: 10 myxomas operated before 2020 (the control group), four cardiac myxomas, one proliferating myxoma, three papillary fibroelastomas, two myxofibrosarcomas, one chondrosarcoma resected in 2022-2023. Immunohistochemical analysis with antibodies against CD34 and CD68 was also conducted on the same 11 Post-COVID period heart tumors. Immunofluorescent examination with a cocktail of antibodies against spike SARS-CoV-2/CD34 and spike SARS-CoV-2/CD68 was performed in 2 cases out of 11 (proliferating myxoma and classic myxoma). RESULTS: A 1.5-fold increase in the number of heart tumors by 2023 was observed, with a statistically significant increase in the number of myxomas. There was no correlation with vaccination, and no significant differences were found between patients from 2016-2019 and 2021-2023 in terms of gender, age, and cardiac rhythm dis-orders. Morphological examination revealed the expression of spike SARS-CoV-2 in tumor cells, endothelial cells, and macrophages in 10 out of 11 heart tumors. CONCLUSION: The detection of SARS-CoV-2 persistence in endothelium and macrophages as well as in tumor cells of benign and malignant cardiac neoplasms, the increase in the number of these tumors, especially cardiac myxomas, after the pandemic by 2023 may indicate a trend toward an increased risk of cardiac neoplasms in COVID-19 patients, which re-quires further research on this issue and a search for new evidence.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this work was to understand the main structural features and ways of formation of Ge-O bonds in organogermanium compounds under the conditions of ArnGeHal4-n (Hal = halide) hydrolysis. The structural types of these compounds were considered, providing 11 blocks (A-K). The molecular structures of the novel compounds [(p-FC6H4)3Ge]2O (1), [(p-F3CC6H4)3Ge]2O (2), and cyclo-[(p-F3CC6H4)2GeO]4 (3) were studied through XRD (X-ray diffraction) analysis. The molecular structure of [(p-F3CC6H4)3GeO]4Ge (4), representing a novel structural type, was also investigated. The data presented in this study will be important in the design of materials with useful properties based on group 14 element derivatives with element-oxygen bonding.

ABSTRACT

Morphological transformations in emulsions of cellulose and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) ternary copolymers containing acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate, and methylsulfonate comonomers in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide were studied over the entire range of concentrations depending on temperature and intensity of the deformation action. Based on the morphological and rheological features of the system, the temperature-concentration range of spinnability of mixed solutions was determined, and composite fibers were spun. The fibers are characterized by a heterogeneous fibrillar texture. Studies of the structure of the fibers, carried out using X-ray diffraction analysis, revealed a decrease in cellulose crystallinity with an increase in the content of PAN. The study of the thermal properties of the obtained fibers, carried out using DSC, and chemical transformations in them in a wide temperature range by high-temperature diffuse reflection IR spectroscopy made it possible to reveal a new intense exothermic peak on the thermograms at 360 °C, which according to the IR spectra corresponds to the transformation of intermacromolecular physical interactions of the PAN and cellulose into covalent bonds between polymers. In addition, the ester groups found during the thermal treatment of the PAN part of the composite fibers in the pyrolysis zone can have a key effect on the process of their further carbonization.

ABSTRACT

Heart transplantation is a treatment of choice for patients with severe heart failure. Infection transmission from a donor to a recipient remains a prominent problem in organ transplantation. However, the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in nonlung organ transplantation is still unclear. In this article we presented a case of a 28-year-old pregnant woman who developed heart failure soon after recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection in the third trimester of gestation. In the postpartum period, the heart disease worsened and the patient required cardiac transplantation. We examined the recipient's heart and made a diagnosis of left ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy. Immunohistochemical analysis showed SARS-CoV-2 antigen expression in the donor's heart before transplantation, and after the transplantation, an endomyocardial biopsy was taken. Moreover, an ultrastructural assessment of the endomyocardial specimen revealed endothelial and pericyte injury and a single particle on the surface of the endothelium consistent with SARS-CoV-2 viral particles. Recent findings in the literature associated these damages with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The present study describes the rare case of SARS-CoV-2 transmission from donor to postpartum recipient through a heart transplant and demonstrates the importance of endomyocardial biopsy before and after heart transplantation.

The clinical manifestation study of post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) has shown a lack of knowledge regarding its morphology and pathogenesis. The aim of this research was to investigate morphological manifestations of PASC in the myocardium. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 38 patients requiring endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) during the post-acute phase of coronavirus infection and a control group including patients requiring EMB prior to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The patients' clinical and laboratory data were analyzed. Histological examination and immunohistochemistry (IHC) of the myocardial tissue was conducted with antibodies to CD3, CD68, HLA-DR, MHC1, C1q, VP1 enteroviruses, spike protein SARS-CoV-2, Ang1, von Willebrand factor (VWF), and VEGF. The morphometric analysis included counting the mean number of inflammatory infiltrate cells per mm2 and evaluating the expression of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, HLA-DR, MHC1, C1q, Ang1, VWF, and VEGF using a scoring system. If the expression of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein was >3 points, an additional IHC test with antibodies to ACE2, CD16 as well as RT-PCR testing of the myocardial tissue were performed. For two patients, immunofluorescence tests of the myocardial tissue were performed using antibody cocktails to SARS-CoV-2 spike protein/CD16, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein/CD68, CD80/CD163. The statistical data analysis was carried out using the Python programming language and libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib. RESULTS: The study demonstrated a significant increase in the number of CD68+ macrophages in the myocardium of PASC patients compared to patients who did not have a history of COVID-19 (p = 0.014 and p = 0.007 for patients with and without myocarditis, respectively), predominantly due to M2 macrophages. An increase in the number of CD68+ macrophages was more frequently observed in patients with shorter intervals between the most recent positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR test and the time of performing the EMB (r = -0.33 and r = -0.61 for patients with and without myocarditis, respectively). The expression scores of Ang1, VEGF, VWF, and C1q in PASC patients did not significantly differ from those in EMB samples taken before 2019. CONCLUSION: The myocardium of PASC patients demonstrated a significant increase in the number of CD68+ macrophages and a decrease in the expression of markers associated with angiopathy. No evidence of coronavirus-associated myocarditis was observed in any PASC patient.

Cellulose and copolymers of acrylonitrile (PAN) are characterized by their chemical resistance to several conventional solvents. Therefore, these polymers are often used to obtain membranes for the recovery of such solvents. In this work, for the first time, composite membranes formed from highly concentrated mixed solutions based on cellulose and PAN are considered (the total content of polymers is 18 wt.%). For mixed solutions, the morphology and rheological behavior were evaluated. It is shown that the resulting solutions are two-phase, and their morphology depends on the components' ratio and the system's history. The non-monotonous change in the viscosity with the PAN content indicates a specific interaction of cellulose and PAN in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide solutions. The rheological behavior of mixed solutions allows for their processing in conditions identical to those of cellulose solutions. The introduction of PAN into the cellulose matrix promotes a decrease in the structural order in the system, affecting the membranes' transport properties. For composite membranes, it was found that with an increase in the content of the PAN phase, the retention of Remazol and Orange decreases, while the observed values are several times higher than those for cellulose membranes. The permeability of ethanol increases with increasing terpolymer content.

BACKGROUND: Few studies have compared COVID-19 patients from different waves. This study aims to conduct a clinical and morphological analysis of patients who died from COVID-19 during four waves. METHODS: The study involved 276 patients who died from COVID-19 during four waves, including 77 patients in the first wave, 119 patients in the second wave, and 78 patients in the third wave. We performed a histological examination of myocardium samples from autopsies and additionally analyzed the samples by PCR. We conducted immunohistochemistry of the myocardium for 21 samples using antibodies against CD3, CD45, CD8, CD68, CD34, Ang1, VWF, VEGF, HLA-DR, MHC1, C1q, enteroviral VP1, and SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. We also did immunofluorescent staining of three myocardial specimens using VP1/SARS-CoV-2 antibody cocktails. Further, we ran RT-ddPCR analysis for 14 RNA samples extracted from paraffin-embedded myocardium. Electron microscopic studies of the myocardium were also performed for two samples from the fourth wave. RESULTS: Among the 276 cases, active myocarditis was diagnosed in 5% (15/276). Of these cases, 86% of samples expressed VP1, and individual cells contained SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in 22%. Immunofluorescence confirmed the co-localization of VP1 and SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins. ddPCR did not confidently detect SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the myocardium in any myocarditis cases. However, the myocardium sample from wave IV detected a sub-threshold signal of SARS-CoV-2 by qPCR, but myocarditis in this patient was not confirmed. Electron microscopy showed several single particles similar to SARS-CoV-2 virions on the surface of the endothelium of myocardial vessels. A comparison of the cardiovascular complication incidence between three waves revealed that the incidence of hemorrhage (48 vs. 24 vs. 17%), myocardial necrosis (18 vs. 11 vs. 4%), blood clots in the intramural arteries (12 vs. 7 vs. 0%), and myocarditis (19 vs. 1 vs. 6%) decreased over time, and CD8-T-killers appeared. Immunohistochemistry confirmed the presence of endotheliitis in all 21 studied cases. CONCLUSIONS: This study compared myocardial damage in patients who died during three COVID-19 waves and showed a decrease in the incidence of endotheliitis complications (thrombosis, hemorrhage, necrosis) and myocarditis over time. However, the connection between myocarditis and SARS-CoV-2 infection remains unproven.

ABSTRACT

The manufacturing of paper with new functional properties is a current problem today. A method of modifying the surface layer of paper by the partial dissolution of cellulose on its surface is proposed. N-Methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) is proposed for use as a solvent, the regeneration of which provides an environmentally friendly process. It was shown that among the possible hydrate forms of the solvent, the monohydrate and higher-melting forms are optimal for modifying the paper surface. The temperature-time modes of processing were revealed and the weight gain and density increase in the course of modification were estimated. The structural and morphological features of the original and modified paper were studied by X-ray imaging and scanning microscopy. The NMMO surface treatment makes it possible to vary the air permeability of the paper, making it practically non-permeable. The capillary and pore system were radically transformed after the partial dissolution of cellulose and its coagulation, as the formed cellulose film isolates them, which leads to a decrease in surface absorbency. The processing conditions allowing for the optimization of the optical and strength properties of the modified paper samples are revealed. The resulting paper with a modified N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide surface layer can be used for printing valuable documents.

BACKGROUND: Long-duration spaceflight crewmembers are at risk for spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular syndrome (SANS). One of the earliest manifestations of SANS is optic disc edema (ODE), which could be missed using the subjective Frisén scale. The primary objective of this study is to determine the inter-rater and intrarater reliability of Frisén grade for SANS-induced ODE among a trained observer cohort. The secondary objective is to propose a standardized evaluation process for SANS-induced ODE across International Space Station Partner Agencies. METHODS: Retrospective, double-blinded diagnostic study. Preflight and postflight fundus photographs were presented to subject matter experts who identified and graded ODE. Pairs of images were also compared side-by-side for disc ranking. Grader concordance was assessed for Frisén grading and disc ranking. RESULTS: Expert graders identified Grade 1 ODE in 17.35% of images from 62 crewmembers (9 female, mean [SD] age, 47.81 [5.19] years). Grades 2 and 3 were identified less than 2% of the time. Concordance in Frisén grades among pairs of graders was 70.99%. Graders identified a difference in preflight and postflight fundus photographs 17.21% of the time when using disc ranking. Pairs of graders had complete concordance in disc ranking 79.79% of the time. Perfect intrarater agreement between Frisén grade and disc ranking occurred 77.7% of the time. CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate intergrader and intragrader variability when using the Frisén scale to identify SANS-induced ODE, which is typically milder in presentation than terrestrial cases of idiopathic intracranial hypertension. It is possible to miss early ODE on fundoscopy alone, making it insufficient as a sole criterion for the diagnosis of SANS. A more sensitive and objective method of surveillance is necessary to monitor international crewmembers for ODE, perhaps using a multimodal approach that includes technology such as optical coherence tomography.

Renal artery denervation (RDN) has been proposed for resistant arterial hypertension. Beyond conventional radiofrequency (RF) ablation, there are emerging RDN technologies, including laser catheter ablation. We aimed at evaluamting the local effects of laser ablation on the renal artery and perivascular nerve injury in comparison with radiofrequency ablation. Thirteen pigs (mean weight 36.7 ± 4.7 kg, age 3 months) were divided into three groups: (1) laser ablation in normotensive pigs (LA; n = 3), (2) bipolar RF ablation in normotensive pigs (RF; n = 7), and (3) a sham group (SHAM; n = 3). Transcatheter laser and RF ablations were performed under general anesthesia. After euthanasia, pathology and immunohistochemical studies were performed. Artery wall and perivascular nerve lesions were found in the LA and RF groups. A lower rate of intimal microdissections was evaluated after laser ablation when compared with RF ablation (0 vs. 1.5 [1;2.75] per artery; p < .05). There was a numerical prevalence of nerves with tyrosine hydroxylase expression loss after laser RDN when compared with RF ablation (16.7 [4; 18] vs. 9.1 [0;18] per specimen). Laser ablation is noninferior to RF ablation regarding perivascular nerve injury and is associated with less intimal layer damage.

BACKGROUND: Interest in the issue of childhood autism has surged in the recent decades. At the same time, despite the significant progress achieved in understanding the etiological and pathogenetic aspects of the condition, effective ways to treat it have continued to elude us. Stem cell therapy appears to hold great promise in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with both neurological diseases (cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus) and mental disorders (autism, schizophrenia). METHODS: This article presents a case report describing the use of nucleated cord blood cells in a patient with regressive autism and resistance to standard therapies. The child's condition was assessed before treatment and 6 and 12 months after. RESULTS: Clinical observation, psychometric, and instrumental diagnostic methods led to a significant improvement in the child's condition in the form of perception development, reduction of somatosensory disorders, normalization of emotional status, and a development of social and communication skills. CONCLUSION: We assume that the result obtained may be associated with the normalization of the immunological status of our patient thanks to the cord blood cells therapy and consider it necessary to conduct further studies into the effectiveness of the method, taking the pathogenic mechanisms of autism into account.

ABSTRACT

An original method is proposed for preparing highly concentrated solutions of PAN copolymer in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) and forming membranes for nanofiltration from these solutions. The high activity of the solvent with respect to the polymer provides short preparation time of spinning solutions in comparison with PAN solutions obtained in other solvents. The use of the rheological approach made it possible to find the optimal concentration for obtaining membranes. The formation of PAN membranes from the obtained solutions is proposed by the rolling method. The morphology of the formed membranes depends on the method of removing the precipitant from the sample. The features of the formed morphology of PAN membranes were studied by scanning electron microscopy. It was revealed that the use of water as a rigid precipitant leads to the formation of a homogeneous and symmetric morphology in the membrane. The average pore sizes in the membrane have been obtained by porosimetry. The study of the separating properties of PAN membranes revealed noteworthy values of the permeability and rejection for the anionic dyes Orange II and Remazol Brilliant Blue (74 and 97%, respectively). The mechanical properties of PAN membranes from solutions in NMMO are not inferior to analogs formed from commercially used direct solvents.

Polymers from norbornenes are of interest for applications in opto- and microelectronic (low dielectric materials, photoresists, OLEDs). Norbornenes with ester motifs are among the most readily available norbornene derivatives. However, little is known about dielectric properties and the gas-transport of polynorbornenes from such monomers. Herein, we synthesized a new metathesis polymer from exo-5-norbornenecarboxylic acid and 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol. The designed monomer was obtained via a two-step procedure in a good yield. This norbornene derivative with a rigid and a bulky binaphthyl group was successfully polymerized over the 1st generation Grubbs catalyst, affording high-molecular-weight products (Mw ≤ 1.5·106) in yields of 94-98%. The polymer is amorphous and glassy (Tg = 161 °C), and it shows good thermal stability. Unlike most, polyNBi is a classic low-permeable glassy polymer. The selectivity of polyNBi was higher than that of polyNB. Being less permeable than polyNB, polyNBi unexpectedly showed a lower value of dielectric permittivity (2.7 for polyNBi vs. 5.0 for polyNB). Therefore, the molecular design of polynorbornenes has great potential to obtain polymers with desired properties in a wide range of required characteristics. Further tuning of the gas separation efficiency can be achieved by attaching an appropriate substituent to the ester and aryl group.

ABSTRACT

The work is focused on the study of the influence of the cellulose type and processing parameters on the structure, morphology, and permeability of cellulose films. The free volume of the cellulose films was evaluated by the sorption of n-decane, which is a non-solvent for cellulose. The structural features of the membranes and their morphology were studied using X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, SEM, and AFM methods. The characteristic features of the porous structure and properties of cellulose films regenerated from cellulose solutions in the N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) and cellophane films were compared. Generally, cellulose films obtained from solutions in NMMO have a higher permeability and a lower rejection (as measured using Orange II dye) as compared to cellophane films. It was also found that the cellulose films have a higher ultimate strength and modulus, whereas the cellophane films are characterized by higher elongation at break.

This study focuses on the preparation of carbon fiber precursors from solutions of cellulose in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide with the addition of bis(trimethylsilyl)acetylene, studying their structural features and evaluating thermal behavior. The introduction of a silicon-containing additive into cellulose leads to an increase in the carbon yield during carbonization of composite precursors. The type of the observed peaks on the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curves cardinally changes from endo peaks intrinsic for cellulose fibers to the combination of endo and exo peaks for composite fibers. For the first time, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) values were obtained for Lyocell fibers and composite fibers with bis(trimethylsilyl)acetylene (BTMSA). The study of the dependence of linear dimensions of the heat treatment fibers on temperature made it possible to determine the relation between thermal expansion coefficients of carbonized fibers and thermogravimetric curves, as well as to reveal the relationship between fiber shrinkage and BTMSA bis(trimethylsilyl)acetylene content. Carbon fibers from composite precursors are obtained at a processing temperature of 1200 °C. A study of the structure of carbon fibers by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy made it possible to determine the amorphous structure of the fibers obtained.

The evolution of structural-morphological transformations of cellulose membranes obtained from solutions in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide through various temperature isobutanol coagulation baths and subsequent treatment with water and their transport properties were studied. Using SEM, it was found that during coagulation in water and drying of the membranes, a uniform monolithic microheterogeneous texture was formed. The replacement of an aqueous precipitation bath with an isobutanol one leads to the formation of a porous structure with wide pore size and shape distributions. With an increase in precipitant temperature in the as-formed membrane, transverse tunnel cavities are formed with respect to the membrane-forming axis, which collapses when the membrane is washed with water, forming a dense texture with a non-uniform membrane volume. The mechanical properties of the obtained membranes were determined and a mechanism is proposed that allows their values to be correlated with structural-morphological and transport properties.
