ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to report a case of omphaloarteriophlebitis in an eight-day-old crossbred calf, presenting an increase in umbilical volume associated with myiasis. The blood count revealed neutrophilia and hyperfibrinogenemia, and an ultrasound examination was also performed to assess the impairment of internal structures and diagnostic confirmation. Due to the severity of the condition, we opted for the surgical treatment of the animal, using the omphalectomy technique. In the intraoperative period, therapy with antimicrobial, antipyretic, analgesic and mucolytic agents was instituted, in addition to the patient's hospitalization for continuity of systemic therapy and dressings. After 72 hours of surgery, excellent healing of the surgical wound was observed and new laboratory tests detected the absence of neutrophilia and hyperfibrinogenemia, allowing medical discharge, with recommendations for daily dressings on the property and return, after 10 days, for reassessment and removal of stitches. This study reported the clinical findings and therapeutic approach in a case of omphaloarteriophlebitis in a calf. Anamnesis and physical examination are fundamental for the diagnosis of omphalopathies and, when associated with complementary exams, allow the veterinarian to determine the affected structures, enabling the institution of the most efficient and specific treatment. The surgical procedure is a therapeutic method that presents faster results and better recovery rates when compared to clinical treatment alone.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of cutaneous neoplasms in horses treated at the Center for the Development of Livestock at the Federal University of Bahia, as well as to correlate it with the coat color, breed, and age of the animal. For that, the attendance records for the last ten years were reviewed. When evaluating the files, 13 cases of cutaneous tumor in horses confirmed by histopathology and cytology were observed. The most prevalent skin tumors were sarcoid (38.5%), melanoma (23%), and fibrosarcoma (15.4%). Regarding the equine coat color, gray and sorrel horses were the most frequent with 30.7% and 23.1% of cases, respectively. As for the equine breed, the mangalarga marchador was the most prevalent (38.4%). Regarding age, 38.46% of the horses were up to 5 years old, 30.77% of the animals were between 4 and 10 years old, and 30.76% were between 11 and 16 years old. In the end, it can be concluded that sarcoid and melanoma were the most prevalent neoplasms.

ABSTRACT
Goats became an excellent animal model aiming the production of recombinant proteins in the milk. Transgenic founder males are important to increase the number of transgenic kids by artificial insemination. This work aimed to compare seminal parameters of transgenic (TG) and non-transgenic goats (NTG) for the human Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (hG-CSF). Thus, weekly, semen samples were collected from all transgenic males by artificial vagina and evaluated: volume, mass motility, sperm concentration, individual progressive motility (IPM), vigor and sperm pathologies. Statistical differences were observed only for volume and IPM, which had higher values (p0.05). In conclusion, the presence of the transgene did not affect the semen quality and these animals can be used to obtain kids and enable to create of a transgenic herd.

In this study, semen evaluation was used to investigate likely effects of transgene presence on seminal parameters of goats. For this purpose, semen samples were collected weekly from three goats, one non-transgenic (NTG) and two transgenic (TG) for the Human Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (hG-CSF). It was observed that, with the exception of the ejaculated volume, no statistical differences were verified for the data related to the other parameters: mass motility, sperm concentration, individual progressive motility and spermatic pathologies. It was concluded that the presence of the hG-CSF transgene had no influence on the main seminal parameters of the animals evaluated.
