ABSTRACT

73 cases of tinea capitis were observed in the "Hôpital des Enfants" in Bordeaux during these last five year. 71 children under 14 years of age and only 2 adults have seen. The dermatophytic spectrum transformation noticed in other parts of Western Europe is also encountered in Bordeaux. 83 p. 100 are affected by zoo-antropophilic dermatophytes, M. canis chiefly in town, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum in rural aeras. The cases are often familial, from an infected animal, but without any interhuman transmission. Only 8 out of 73 cases are due to strict antropophilic dermatophytes and are found in newly arrived immigrants from North Africa (T. violaceum, T. schönleini) of from West Africa (M. langeroni, T. ferrugineum, T. soudanense). Not a single case of scholar transmission could be observed. Cure by micronised griseofulvine per os (15 mg/kg/day) associated with local care was effective in all cases.

ABSTRACT

The authors are reporting a new case of widespread scabies in a baby. They take this opportunity to emphasize on the atypical erythematous and excoriated papular rash which sometimes may be vesicular and hyper-keratotic. This widespread eruption may mimic generalised dermatitis, pustular psoriasis and even histiocytosis X. They also underline importancy of longlasting ointment with fluorinated steroid being responsible for this widespread eruption.

ABSTRACT

Inquiry in the french dermatological main centers and a survey of the literature suggest that the once described as Duhring-Brocq disease in children, may refer to three distinct bullous diseases. Taking in account clinical features, photon and electron-microscopical data, investigation for basement membrane antibodies, search for intestinal villous atrophy, effectiveness of dapsone or sulfapyridine, it is indeed possible to distinguish:1) bullous pemphigoid (very rarely); 2) dermatitis herpetiformis (not frequently), those two affections being similar to adult forms; 3) benign chronic bullous dermatitis of childhood. This last child specific disease, is the most frequently observed. Its clinical features are comparable to pemphigoids, but histopathology and immunology data are different. Its response to dapsone of sulfapyridine and to free gluten diet is note perfect and not constant, but its evolution is spontaneously favorable after a few years.

ABSTRACT

Staphylococcus aureus (60 p. 100) and Candida albicans (50 p. 100) were mostly found in 73 cases of diaper dermatitis. They were present together in 16 out of these 73 cases. This study enables us to think this is a matter of opportunistic infection. Staphylococcus aureus (75 p. 100) and beta-hémol. Streptococcus A (28 p. 100) were found in 40 children with impetigo contagiosa. They were present together in 7 out of the 40 cases. Nephritis was never found either in those cases or in other 93 cases of pyodermitis.
