ABSTRACT

A new composition of gel was applied in ultrasonographic diagnostic examinations. Estimation of gel was based on the following parameter--attenuation in dB per cm at varying frequency. Considering this parameter the newly composed gel was compared with gels used so far in diagnostics.

ABSTRACT

A newly composed gel was examined with a view of determining its usefulness for gonioscopy and laser microsurgery. It was found, that it did not exert any adverse effect on ocular tissue, it displayed perfect transparency and proper consistency facilitating manual operation. Experimental procedures confirmed its clinical usefulness.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of hydrophilic base with pilocarpine hydrochloride. Comparisons were made between releasing rate of pilocarpine hydrochloride from hydrophilic and lipophilic bases into water and artificial tears. It was found that pilocarpine hydrochloride was released in the amount 30-40 times greater from hydrogel bases compared to lipophilic. The releasing rate of drugs from hydrogel ointments increases with the increased colloid concentration and with decreased of drug concentration in the base.

ABSTRACT

The authors studied the process of progressing narrowing of pulp chamber in 363 milk teeth and 295 permanent teeth by means of intraoral radiograms. The investigations were carried out in two groups of children in successive time periods. The diminution of chamber size progressed more rapidly in the vertical dimension. The process of chamber narrowing is neither even nor steady.

ABSTRACT

259 workers of the divisions of the highest toxic substances risk in the working environment were examined. The masticatory system was examined clinically. The examinations indicated considerable caries in all workers. The intensity of the disease differed insignificantly between workers of particular divisions. Peridontal disorders were found in almost all workers (over 80% of subjects). The highest rate of those disorders was that in the workers of the Divisions of Furfural and Asphalt Oxidation. The periodontal disorders were fairly advanced. In most (over 60%) cases the destructive periodontal disease was diagnosed. Among the diseases of oral mucosa, leukoplakia was most frequent, affecting 42.8% of workers of Divisions of Furfural and 26.0% of workers of the Division Phenol.
