ABSTRACT

Pharyngeal tuberculosis is very rare and normally appears as an seemingly malignant process. As a result of which it is essential to perform a differential diagnosis before beginning anticancer treatment. We present a clinical case of lingual tonsil tuberculosis. A review is made of the pathogenic mechanisms, the clinical manifestations and the diagnosis of pharyngeal tuberculosis, whose response to treatment with antituberculous drugs proves to be excellent.

ABSTRACT

Seventy dorsal flaps were created in rabbits: 18 cutaneous pedicled flaps and 7 cutaneous free flaps: 23 myocutaneous pedicled flaps and 22 myocutaneous free flaps. Flap viability was compared and its predictability using subjective and objective tests was evaluated. Pedicled flaps had a better survival rate. Cutaneous fluorescence was useful for predicting flap viability.

ABSTRACT

This paper presents a case, infrequent and clinically unsuspected, of pleomorphic adenoma in the upper region of the neck in front of the sternocleidomastoid, independent of the salivary glands. The tumor developed within an heterotopic salivary gland of seromucose type, the histopathologic study of the surgical piece being decisive in the diagnosis. The characteristics of salivary heterotopias of the neck, and their diagnostic difficulties and histogenetic problems are reviewed.
