ABSTRACT
Physiopathology of amblyopia and adaptative mechanisms of postural system should be considered among strabismic amblyopia with excentric fixation. Such patients have a "Body Image" of postural dissymetry which ocular torticollis is only caricatural. A symptomatical therapy, as modification of postural tonus regulation, is justified by the hypothesis that excentration of the fixation should be compare to postural dysregulation. This paper report four cases of amblyopia (children and adults) already treated by classical methods without results who obtained ameliorations by a combined ophthalmological with postural treatment and by the way confirm this hypothesis.

Scanner examination of the oculo-orbital region of 20 squinting children shows, by mean of precise measures, in a first part abnormalities of orbital development (these abnormalities are always moderate). In a second part, this examination demonstrate asynergies of the horizontal oculomotor muscles, particularly an isolated hypermotricity of one medial ocular muscle in patent induction movements. Despite of irradiation of the crystalline lens this examination can be helpful in a preoperatory check-up.

Oculomotor visual input of the postural system can be modified with a small powerful prism from 1 to 4 dioptries. The determination of features acting on postural tonus through visual and oculomotor input is difficult. It is necessary to examine postural and oculomotor consequences of each optical correction.

The wearing of corrective lens may disturb the functioning of the fine postural system, at least in some circumstances which have to be specified. The first condition of this deleterious effect could supplying of badly centered lenses. But this clinical hypothesis have to be tested experimentally.
