ABSTRACT

Distribution of the frequencies of alleles and genotypes of albumin, post-albumin, transferrin, post-transferrin and haemoglobin in 9 breeds of rabbits in Russia was analyzed. Genetic distances between these breeds were defined and the dendrograms of their phylogeny composed. The smallest distance was observed between the breeds white giant and gray giant. White giant, gray giant, california and soviet chinchilla breeds were in the first cluster of the dendrograms. The other breeds: butterfly, black-brown and black-fire constituted the second cluster. The gold and silver breeds composed the separate branches. The character of localization of the breeds on the dendrograms is in good agreement with the real interrelations of the rabbit breeds known from the history and genealogy of their formation.

ABSTRACT

By using the frequencies of 43-46 antigens of 9-11 genetic blood group systems in 108145 animals the immunogenetic similarity (r +/- m(r)) and the distance (d) between a Swiss brown cattle and other 86 representatives of the Bovinae subfamily were calculated. The position of Swiss brown cattle on a linear model of the Bovinae family was determined. The position has following indexes: r = 0.7816 +/- 0.0197; d = 0.2181. Phylogenesis of 16 cattle breeds reared with participation of the Swiss brown breed was studied. On the dendrogram these breeds formed two clusters and three branches. The clusters at the bottom of the dendrogram (Swiss brown x brown carpathian) and in the middle (ala-tau x caucasian brown) included breeds reared in the foothills and highlands, and the top of the dendrogram is formed by the lebedin, kostroma breeds and the Tajik type of Swiss brown zebu cattle reared in the flat country.

ABSTRACT

The phylogenesis analysis of Vietnam milk cows breed was performed using eleven different mathematical methods. 14 to 144 markers were used in this analysis, whose synthesis is controlled by eleven genetical systems of blood groups and six polymorphic systems of proteins. It has been demonstrated that the accuracy of the phylogenesis analysis depends on the quality of the markers applied and on the methods used. It was established that the way of breed formation was reflected in the dendrogram composed by the matrix based on the formula of Eisner and Meshcheryakova (1978). The properties of other methods in use are discussed.

ABSTRACT

Starch gel electrophoresis has been used to study polymorphism of proteins of blood (Hb, Tf, Al) and milk (alpha S1-Cn, beta-Cn, beta-Lg) in animals of the Holstein-Friesian (n = 140), Leisindian (n = 32) breeds and their hybrids (F1, n = 34); F2, n = 37; F3, n = 31) reared in Vietnam. It has permitted comparatively studying phylogenesis of anew formed dairy cattle using the Serebrovskii+, Hedrick and Rogers methods. This comparative study has yielded similar results.

ABSTRACT

The types of blood hemoglobin, transferrin and albumin as well as the types of alpha s1-casein, beta-casein and beta-lactoglobulin revealed by starch-gel electrophoresis were used in analysis of the results obtained in crossings of Holsteins-Frisian and Laisind races of cattle bred in Vietnam. The nature of alteration in frequencies of alleles and genotypes for these proteins was shown. The indices of homo- and heterozygosity, the level of polymorphism and the number of effective alleles were calculated. The status of genetic balance has been regarded in polymorphic systems under study. Alongside with this, a type of inheritance of quantitative characteristics, such as milking, fat and albumin percentage in milk, lactation duration, the weight of newborns and cows after first calving were traced on the background of changes in frequencies of blood and milk proteins in starting variants and their crossbreeds in 3 generations.

ABSTRACT

The results of the study of immunogenetic structure characteristics of both the purebred Jersey and different generations of the Red-stepp x Jersey, Jersey x Golshtin, Jersey x Golshtin x Red-stepp are presented. We used 47 to 61 reagents and studied 8 types of blood proteins. Some differences in allele frequencies of a number of loci were revealed between the groups studied. This fact shows the possibility of their using as markers in breed crossing.
