Disonancias en las imágenes transmitidas por los medios de comunicación en los brotes epidémicos a propósito de los Equipos de Protección Individual (EPIs) / Dissonances in the images transmitted by the media in epidemic outbreaks about of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

OBJETIVOS: Subrayar cómo las imágenes difundidas por los medios de comunicación para ilustrar noticias sobre brotes epidémicos, pueden contribuir a la confusión en cuanto a los EPIs que se deben utilizar para las diferentes actividades y a la forma de su utilización. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Se analizan imágenes que ilustraban noticias sobre el brote de coronavirus aparecidas en diferentes medios de comunicación y se destacan las que hemos denominado disonancias en cuanto a los EPIs utilizados y a su forma de utilización. RESULTADOS Y DISCUSIÓN: Se observan diferencias en los EPIs utilizados y en la forma de colocación de los mismos en las referidas imágenes. Lo que puede contribuir al equívoco y a la inseguridad de los profesionales sanitarios que han de utilizarlos. CONCLUSIONES: Sería muy útil unificar y estandarizar equipos para las diferentes tareas así como los protocolos de colocación y retirada, con el debido entrenamiento de los profesionales

OBJECTIVES: To underline how the images disseminated by the media to illustrate news on outbreaks, can contribute to confusion regarding the PPE to be used for the different activities and the way in which they are used. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Images that illustrate news about the coronavirus outbreak that appeared in different media are analyzed, and those that we have called dissonances in terms of the PPE used and how they are used are highlighted. Results and DISCUSSION: Differences are observed in the PPE used and in the way they are placed in the referred images. This can contribute to the misunderstanding and insecurity of the health professionals who have to use them. CONCLUSIONS: It would be very useful to unify and standardize equipment for different tasks as well as placement and removal protocols, with the proper training of professionals

Objetivos: se pretende plantear una visión global del complejo entramado de relaciones que se establecen entre la salud o la enfermedad mental y la salud laboral y de los diferentes actores implicados. Material y Métodos: se realiza una búsqueda de publicaciones o informes en internet de organismos e instituciones oficiales o de asociaciones científicas, profesionales o empresariales relevantes. Se estudian separadamente diferentes aspectos de estas relaciones y después se integran en una visión global e interrelacionada. Resultados y Discusión: se propone un diagrama integrador que resume y esquematiza las relaciones e interdependencias entre ambos campos y se analizan dichas relaciones mediante una matriz DAFO. Conclusiones: para abordar la relación entre los problemas de salud laboral y de salud mental se requiere la colaboración de diversos agentes y dispositivos en un proceso continuo y permanente de comunicación y cooperación multidisciplinar

Objectives: the aim is to present a global vision of the complex network of relationships established between mental health or mental illness of people and occupational health of workers and the different actors involved. Material and Methods: through a search on internet of publications or reports of official organisms and institutions or scientific, professional or business associations, information about these relationships is found. Different aspects of them are studied separately and then integrated into a global and interrelated vision. Results and Discussion: an integrating diagram is proposed that summarizes and schematizes the relationships and interdependencies between both fields and analyzes these relationships through a SWOT matrix. Conclusions: in order to address the relationship between occupational health and mental health problems, the collaboration of various agents and devices is required in a continuous and permanent process of communication and multidisciplinary cooperation
