ABSTRACT

Endodontic treatment is primarily a combination of chemical as well as mechanical preparation of canal space which helps in the placement of a biocompatible material. The main purpose of endodontic treatment is to eradicate microorganisms from the infected root canal system and prevent recontamination. The principle constituents of an endodontic filling are core material "Gutta Percha" and "Endodontic Sealers." Endodontic sealers should ideally eliminate residual bacteria and prevent reinfection after chemomechanical treatment and obturation of the root canal. The aim of this study is to investigate the antimicrobial effect of four endodontic sealers against bacteria in biofilms commonly detected from persistent and secondary endodontic infections.

ABSTRACT

Aim: To compare and evaluate the shear bond strength of sixth and seventh-generation dentin bonding agents. Materials and methods: Around 75 extracted permanent mandibular premolars were selected and assigned into two groups. The samples were cleaned, cavities were prepared, and the bonding agent was applied and stored in distilled water for 24 hours. Shear bond strength testing was done using a universal testing machine at the crosshead speed of 1 mm/minute. Data were analyzed statistically by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and paired test. Results: The greatest mean shear bond strength to dentin was exhibited by the sixth-generation dentin bonding agent due to the solvent present, which has a low concentration and low hydrophilicity than the seventh-generation. Conclusion: Sixth-generation adhesives showed significantly higher mean shear bond strength to dentin than seventh-generation adhesives. Clinical significance: Bond strength values are gross assessing tools for evaluating the efficacy of restorative bonding materials to dentin. And as the shear bond strength is less technique sensitive to perform, it will highlight the strength at the bonded interface. How to cite this article: Adyanthaya BR, Gazal S, Mathur M, et al. ABSTRACT

A case of disseminated histoplasmosis (DH) in a 60-year-old female patient is reported from Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The patient presented with multiple papules on the skin surrounding the lips, face, torso, trunk, and back. She also complained of growth in the palate. Histoplasmosis was confirmed by biopsy and histopathology of skin and palatal lesions. This case report highlights the presenting features and occurrence of histoplasmosis in nonendemic region in India.

ABSTRACT

Success of endodontic treatment depends on the proper identi-fication of all the canals, thorough chemomechanical preparation followed by three-dimensional obturation with hermetic seal. Failure of any of these steps may occur due to unusual tooth morphology. Usually mandibular molars have two roots with three canals but in few teeth, the number of roots and canals vary. The variation in the number of roots, if extra root located lingually called radix entomolaris (RE) or located bucally called radix paramolaris (RP). This article presents successful endo-dontic treatment of two mandibular frst molars with extra roots one is with radix entomolaris and other is with radix paramolaris, both of which are rare microstructures.
