ABSTRACT

We report a case of a case of a male patient with repeated hemoptysis without previous significant history and no weight loss, fever or sputum. Physical examination was normal and chest x-ray showed a mass in left upper lobe that was confirmed by CT scan. The mass touched the mediastinal fat and the mediastinal pleura anteriorly. Bronchocopy showed occlusion of left anterior segmental bronchus of the upper lobe with mucosal inflammation and hair was observed inside the bronchus. Thoracotomy was performed and a cystyc mass was fund in the left upper lobe, with no invasion of the mediastinum, and was totally resected. Pathology specimen was compatible with the diagnosis of a cystic teratoma with several different tissues which included pancreatic parenchyma. The patient's outcome was uneventful and he continues to do well during follow-up
