ABSTRACT

On the basis of the data about possible potentiation of polychromatic light cataractogenic effect by adrenaline and dimethylsulfoxide preparations, obtained by us earlier (increasing of animals number with changes of lenses and metabolic disturbances, of the first clinical signs of cataract in more earlier terms, more rapid development occurred in lenses opacities, more intensive changes of lenses substance), we have studied some biochemical parameters (peroxide resistance of erythrocyte, the level of free amine nitrogen, activity of Na,K-ATP-ase, gamma-glutamiltranspeptidase, ceruloplasmin) in blood, liver and tissues of rabbits eyes, during modelling of the light cataract on the background of supplementary application of adrenalin and dimethylsulfoxide. It was shown that one of the possible mechanisms of cocataractogenic action of the studied substances is the revealed fact of increasing the metabolic systems disturbances, caused by long-term irradiation of the animals.

ABSTRACT

The work deals with estimation of some factors of blood coagulation and fibrinolytic systems, which include antithrombin III, factor X, prothrombin, plasminogen, protein C concentrations in the subretinal fluid of the patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment retina. The tendency to increase of the blood coagulation and fibrinolysis factor levels, except protein C, was revealed in the patients with complicated forms of the disease. The investigations mentioned above are capable of serving as a diagnostical and forecasting test characterizing the rhegmatogenous retinal detachment retina and surgical treatment proceeding.

ABSTRACT

The results of metabolic parameters determination, which characterize the state of protein's metabolism, membranes stability, cell s system of antioxidant deficiency at the patients with senile cataract are presented with the purpose to make clear the differences between biochemical mechanisms of lenses clouding progress at the elderly persons without and on the background of different somatic pathology. Our results have shown that disturbances of membranes structural-functional parameters and the lowering of activity glutathione metabolic system is more expressed at the patients with accompanying diseases of cardio-vascular system, gastro-intestinal tract, liver and chronic alcohol intoxication. The exhaustion of antioxidant system is observed at the patients with senile cataract in the cases of accompanying disease of liver and chronic alcohol intoxication unlike the patients without accompanying somatic diseases. Diseases of cardio-vascular's system, gastrointestinal tract and liver effort the metabolic disturbances in blood of the patients with senile cataract.

ABSTRACT

The activity of Na+,K+ATPase, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase, ceruloplasmin, total antioxidative activity of water-soluble antioxidants, the contents of vitamins C and E, free amino-nitrogen and peroxide resistance of erythrocytes were determined at the blood's plasma of healthy persons (120 persons) and suffered from aged cataract (437 persons) of three aged groups (up to 40 years, 40-60 years and elder then 60 years). We have shown, that changes, which has been connected with cataractogenesis and age dependent changes are not equal. The lowering of activity of Na+,K(+)-ATPase, gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase and level of vitamin E was expressed less during the ageing, then during the development of lenses opacification. The increase of activity of oxidase during the cataractogenesis is less significant, then age depended inhibition of this enzyme. The opposite tendency (the lowering of activity at the patients with cataract is more expressed, then compensatory activations of these parameters at the persons of the corresponding age with transparent lenses) was revealed for total antioxidative activity of water-soluble antioxidants.

ABSTRACT

Comparative analysis of the methods of estimation of the state of fibrinolytic system and its components, which are used in clinical practice now is presented in the review. The advantages of the approaches, which are based on the simultaneous determination of several indices of this system were considered. It was shown promising to use these methods in ophthalmology for estimation of both common and local (in liquids and eye tissues) haemostats, as important additional diagnostic and prognostic criteria of development of some ophthalmopathologies.

ABSTRACT

Anti-cataract activity of vitamin E analog with shortened side chain--2'-4'-methyl-pentenyl-acetoxy-2,5,7-tetramethylchroman has been studied. It is shown on the model system that the analog of vitamin E inhibits the increase of the lens agent fluorescence under irradiation of its homogenates by polychrome light. Taking no negative effect on the lens capsule epithelium, the drug normalizes the content of vitamin E in the blood and increases activity of Na+, K+, ATPase in the cortex and capsule of rabbits lenses in dynamics under simulation of light cataract in vivo.

ABSTRACT

The fibrinolytic properties of the preparations of plasmin (Pm), mixture of plasminogen and streptokinase (Pg+Sk), miniplasmin (m-Pm) and fibrinolysin have been investigated on the models of rabbit's hyphema. The action of preparations of Pm and Pg+Sk had approximately equal therapeutic index--the total destruction of clots proceeded for 12.0 days, that was 6.6 days less than in the control group. The therapeutic effect for m-Pm was 3.6 days. The dose of preparation of m-Pm, necessary for total destruction of clots, was 15-20% greater than for the same dose of Pg+Sk. The preparation of fibrinolysin, used in the same quantities of proteolytic activity, as Pg and m-Pg, (16 caseinolytic units per 1 injection) had no therapeutic effect.

ABSTRACT

A study of the state of retinal lysosomes under the action of low-energy monochromatic coherent light has shown that helium-neon laser radiation (lambda = 632.8 nm) to possesses a lysosomotropic action, changing structural functional parameters of lysosomal membranes, and the directness and intensity of the membranotropic effect on lysosomal structures of the retina depend on energy characteristics of the radiation used.

ABSTRACT

Vitamins A and E (alpha-tocopheryl-acetate and retinol-palmitate) are studied for their effect on structural and functional state of retina lysosomes. These vitamins are shown to exert a pronounced membrane-tropic effect on lysosomes. Vitamin E in chosen concentrations stabilizes membranes of retina lysosomes both in the in vitro and in vivo experiments. Vitamin A acts on them as a labilizing agent. The mentioned effect of vitamins may be corrected by low-energy radiation of the monochromatic coherent light (lambda = 632.8 nm). It is substantiated experimentally that the stabilizing effect of vitamin E may be intensified in case of the action combined with laser radiation on lysosomes. The labilizing effect of vitamin A on membranes of organelles under study may be weakened by application of laser radiation of low intensities.
