ABSTRACT

We tested the activity of the PRE element from the Drosophila virilis genome, which is the homologue of the known Drosophila melanogasterbxdPRE element from the regulatory region of the Ubx gene. It is easy to select unique primers to this element that do not occur in the Drosophila melanogaster genome. We showed that the studied PRE element causes a strong repression of the white marker gene upon insertion into the Drosophila melanogaster genome and interacts with the PcG proteins of the PRC1 and PhoRC complexes.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we demonstrate that passing-through transcription suppresses the activity of the white gene enhancer integrated into the intron. At the same time, the SV40 transcription terminators flanking the transgene can completely remove the inhibitory effect of transcription.

ABSTRACT

The Drosophila PRE/TRE elements are DNA targets for Polycomb and Trithorax group proteins, which control repression and activation of gene transcription, respectively. In this study, we show that, in transiently transfected Drosophila S2 cells, bxdPRE activates transcription driven from different promoters. Using CG32795 gene promoter, we demonstrate that other PRE/TRE elements-Fab7, en, eve, and CycB-also act as transcription activators in this model system.

ABSTRACT

Application of modern linear electron accelerators, equipped with precise navigation systems, maximum conformal dose delivery as well as imaging of irradiated focus significantly increased possibilities of escalating of doses of ionizing radiation in a selected volume with the necessary protection of the surrounding critical structures. These technological solutions and modern ideas about possibilities of remote beam radiation therapy resulted in a significant increase of the role of radiation therapy and, in particular, stereotactic radiotherapy in the treatment of patients with liver metastases. This technique allows creating locally in metastatic tumor site a high dose of ionizing radiation causing by that the destruction of the tumor. This promising direction in treatment of liver metastases significantly expanded possibilities of complex treatment and enabled us to provide specific assistance to those patients who have been rejected from other methods of treatment.

ABSTRACT

We've studied morphofunctional peculiarities of 47 young sportsmen-rovers. 25.6% of the young sportsmen suffered from the 1st degree arterial hypertension and 8.5% had high--normal blood pressure. Profound clinical and dynamic checkup proved that in the group of rovers with high blood pressure the indices of arterial blood pressure compared to those of the group of sportsmen having normal blood pressure there is certain enlargement of ventriculus sinister cordis myocardium mass and deterioration of functional reserve.

ABSTRACT

Seventy-seven athletes with different manifestations of the cardiac connective tissue dysplasia (CCTD) syndrome (mitral prolapse (MP), anomalously located chordae (ALC) of the left ventricle and/or their combination) and 23 athletes without signs of CCTD syndrome were examined. The purpose of the study was to determine the specific features of the phenotypic picture, ECG data, and physical fitness in athletes with the manifestations of CCTD syndrome. The characteristic features of anthropometric data (higher heights and decreased body mass index), a larger number of the phenotypic signs of CCTD, the specific features of ECG, and lower parameters of physical fitness and aerobic capacities in the groups of MP, ALC, and/or their combination were identified; the impact of MP and ALC on these parameters was evaluated.
