ABSTRACT

Exercise offers numerous benefits to cancer patients and plays an essential role in postsurgical cancer rehabilitation. However, there is a lack of research examining the effects of exercise after the surgical stress of nephrectomy. To address this gap, we created an animal model that simulated patients who had undergone nephrectomy with or without an exercise intervention. Next, we performed a bioinformatic analysis based on the data generated by the RNA sequencing of the lung tissue sample. An overrepresentation analysis was conducted using two genome databases (Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes [KEGG]). A KEGG analysis of the exercise-treated nephrectomy mice revealed enrichment in immune-related pathways, particularly in the NF-κB and B cell-related pathways. The expression of CD79A and IGHD, which are responsible for B cell differentiation and proliferation, was upregulated in the nephrectomy mice. Differential gene expression was categorized as significantly upregulated or downregulated according to nephrectomy and exercise groups. Notably, we identified several gene expression reversals in the nephrectomy groups with exercise that were not found in the nephrectomy without exercise or control groups. Our preliminary results potentially reveal a genetic landscape for the underlying mechanisms of the effects of exercise on our nephrectomy model.

ABSTRACT

The humanitarian motivation of medical support from the three Scandinavian countries during the Korean War cannot be doubted, but the countries also had to be politically sensitive during this period. The fact that these countries only dispatched medical support, and that the team was not only for military purpose but also intended to help the civilians is a different point from the U.S. military medical support, which distinguished military medical support that is the U.S. Eighth Army, from the civilian treatment and relief, which is the UNCACK. In addition, medical support activities from the Scandinavian countries were bound to be flexible depending on the rapidly changing trend of war, active regions, and their support methods. At a time when the battle was fierce and the number of wounded soldiers increased, they had no choice but to concentrate on treating wounded soldiers, whether in Busan or Incheon. However, even while treating these wounded soldiers, they tried to treat and rescue civilians around the base area whenever they had chance. It is easily imaginable that in the urgent situation of war, the nature of medical support cannot be clearly divided into military or civilian if there is only one team that is operating. It is clear, however, that the common humanitarian purpose of rescuing and treating civilians affected the establishment of the National Medical Center in Seoul after the war. The Scandinavians had indeed remained even after the end of the war in to provide full support of establishing modern medical system in Korea. This suggests that modern Korean medical or public health system did not start to be developed in the 1960s like some researchers argue, but started a few years earlier during the time of the war with the support from the countries world-wide.

ABSTRACT

Six new C-20 and one new C-19 quassinoids, named perforalactones F-L (1-7), were isolated from twigs of Harrisonia perforata. Spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic experiments were conducted to identify their structures. Through oxidative degradation of perforalactone B to perforaqussin A, the biogenetic process from C-25 quassinoid to C-20 via Baeyer-Villiger oxidation was proposed. Furthermore, the study evaluated the anti-Parkinson's disease potential of these C-20 quassinoids for the first time on 6-OHDA-induced PC12 cells and a Drosophila Parkinson's disease model of PINK1B9. Perforalactones G and I (2 and 4) showed a 10-15% increase in cell viability of the model cells at 50 µM, while compounds 2 and 4 (100 µM) significantly improved the climbing ability of PINK1B9 flies and increased the dopamine level in the brains and ATP content in the thoraces of the flies.

ABSTRACT

Background and aim: In China, acupuncture and moxibustion have been used effectively to treat various diseases for thousands of years. However, the evidence for a difference in the efficacies of moxibustion and acupuncture in cerebral infarction treatment is scarce. We aimed to compare the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment on the Nogo/NgR signaling pathway in rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Experimental procedure: Eighty male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups, based on treatment received: sham surgery (sham group), middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO, MCAO group), MCAO and NEP(1-40) inhibitor injection (MCAO + block group), MCAO and moxibustion (MCAO + moxi group), and MCAO and minimal acupuncture (MCAO + MA group). Neurological status was evaluated before treatment, and cerebral infarction volume (IV) and neurological function; Nogo-A, NgR, p75NTR, and LINGO-1 expressions; and NgR and LINGO-1 co-expression were assessed after treatment. Results and conclusion: After treatment, barring Nogo-A mRNA and protein expression in the MCAO + block group, the Longa score and IV significantly decreased; Nogo-A, NgR, p75NTR, and LINGO-1 mRNA and protein expressions as well as NgR and LINGO-1 co-expression significantly decreased in cerebral tissues; whereas the BWT score increased (P < 0.01) in the MCAO + moxi group, compared with the MCAO group. Except for NgR and LINGO-1 protein expressions, there were no significant differences in the abovementioned parameters between rats that underwent acupuncture and moxibustion. Acupuncture and moxibustion have similar effects on Nogo/NgR signaling pathway inhibition after cerebral infarction.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA) on the expression of cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) and apoptosis of nerve cells in rats with spinal cord injury (SCI), so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of SCI. METHODS: Seventy-two female SD rats were randomly divided into model, EA, antagonist and EA+antagonist groups, with 18 rats in each group and other 18 rats were used as the sham operation (sham) group. The SCI model was established by referring to modified Allen's method with a weight impactor. The hindlimb motor function was assessed by using Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) score. Rats of the EA group were subjected to EA stimulation at "Dazhui"(GV14), "Yaoyangguan"(GV3), bilateral "Ciliao"(BL32) and "Zusanli"(ST36) for 20 min, once a day for 14 days. Rats of the antagonist group received intravenous injection followed by intraperitoneal injection of arachidonyl trifluoromethyl ketone (AACOCF3, antagonist of cPLA2), once every other day. Rats of the EA+antagonist group received EA treatment combined with antagonist injection. After the treatment, the rats were sacrificed and the spinal cord tissue was collected for detecting the protein expression of cPLA2, p-cPLA2, Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase-3 by Western blot, and the mRNA expression of cPLA2, Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase-3 using qRT-PCR. The morphological changes of the spinal cord were detected by Nissl staining. RESULTS: In comparison with the sham group, the BBB score, expression of Bcl-2 protein and mRNA were significantly down-regulated (P<0.01), whereas the expression levels of Bax, Caspase-3 and p-cPLA2 proteins and mRNAs were considerably up-regulated in the model group (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the BBB score, expression levels of Bcl-2 protein and mRNA were significantly up-regulated (P<0.01, P<0.05), while the expression levels of Bax, Caspase-3 and p-cPLA2 proteins in the EA, antagonist and EA+antagonist groups, Bax and cPLA2 mRNAs in both antagonist and EA+antagonist groups, and Caspase-3 mRNA in the EA+antagonist group were obviously down-regulated (P<0.01, P<0.05). The effect of EA+antagonist was significantly superior to EA in increasing BBB score and in lowering expression of Bax and cPLA2 mRNAs (P<0.01, P<0.05). Nissl staining showed reduced number of nerve cells and Nissl bodies, and striped dark blue cells in the model group, which was milder in the EA and antagonist groups, particularly in the EA+antagonist group. CONCLUSION: EA may improve the limb motor function of SCI rats, which may be related to its functions in down-regulating the expression of p-cPLA2, Bax and Caspase-3 and up-regulating Bcl-2 to reduce the apoptosis of nerve cells in the regional spinal cord.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND/AIM: Radiation dermatitis is a common complication of radiation therapy in breast cancer patients. Severe dermatitis may alter treatment schedules and clinical outcomes. The topical prevention strategy is the widely used option to prevent radiation dermatitis. However, the comparison between the current topical prevention strategies is insufficient. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the topical prevention efficacy of radiation dermatitis in patients with breast cancer through a network meta-analysis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study followed The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Network Meta-Analyses guidelines. A random effects model was used to compare different treatments. The treatment modality ranking was evaluated using the P-score. I2 and Cochran's Q test were used to evaluate the heterogeneity among studies. RESULTS: Forty-five studies were analyzed in this systematic review. A total of 19 studies were finally included in this meta-analysis for grade 3 or higher radiation dermatitis, which included 18 treatment arms and 2,288 patients. The forest plot showed that none of the identified regimens were superior to standard care. CONCLUSION: A more effective regimen than standard care for the prevention of grade 3 or higher radiation dermatitis in breast cancer patients was not identified. Our network meta-analysis showed that current topical prevention strategies are similarly efficacious. However, since preventing severe radiation dermatitis is an important clinical challenge, further trials should be conducted to address this issue.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) results from upper airway remodeling, which has been suggested to alter sensory and motor neuron function due to hypoxia or snore vibration. This study investigated whether OSA was associated with the risk of flavor disorder (FD). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Seven thousand and eight hundred sixty-five patients with OSA and 7865 propensity score-matched controls without OSA were enrolled between 1999 and 2013 through a nationwide cohort study. The propensity score matching was based on age, sex, comorbidities including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, ankylosing spondylitis, and Charlson comorbidity index, and co-medications during the study period, including statins and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. The adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) of incident FD following OSA was derived using a Cox proportional hazard model. A log-rank test was used to evaluate the time-dependent effect of OSA on FD. Age, sex, comorbidities, and co-medications were stratified to identify subgroups susceptible to OSA-associated FD. RESULTS: Patients with OSA were at a significantly great risk of FD (aHR = 1.91, 95% CI = 1.08-3.38), which was time-dependent (log-rank test p = 0.013). Likewise, patients with hyperlipidemia were at a significant great risk of FD (aHR = 2.99, 95% CI = 1.33-6.69). Subgroup analysis revealed that female patients with OSA were at higher risks of FD (aHR = 2.39, 95%CI = 1.05-5.47). CONCLUSIONS: Patients with OSA were at significantly great risk of incident FD during the 15-year follow-up period, especially in female patients with OSA. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Timely interventions for OSA may prevent OSA-associated FD.

Objective@#This study aimed to determine the clinical factors associated with positive brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in patients presenting to the emergency department (ED) with acute altered mental status (AMS). @*Methods@#Patients with acute AMS who presented to the ED were retrospectively analyzed from September 2019 to March 2020. Non-traumatic patients with abnormal alert, verbal, pain, unresponsive (AVPU) scale scores and exhibiting acute change in mental status were included in the study. We evaluated the clinical characteristics of patients with acute AMS according to the results of their brain MRI. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to determine the clinical factors associated with positive brain MRI findings. @*Results@#During the study period, 138 patients underwent brain MRI in the ED, with 36 (26.1%) positive results. A majority of patients with positive brain MRI findings had underlying malignancies, cerebrovascular disease, higher serum total bicarbonate (TCO2) levels, TCO2≥22 mmol/L, lower blood urea nitrogen levels, abnormal findings on brain computed tomography and abnormal findings on neurologic examination. In the multivariable analysis, serum TCO2≥22 mmol/L (odds ratio [OR], 2.12; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.09-4.12) and the presence of cranial nerve abnormalities (OR, 3.88; 95% CI, 1.55-9.68) and extremity abnormalities (OR, 2.76; 95% CI, 1.11-6.88) were significantly associated with positive brain MRI results. @*Conclusion@#Serum TCO2 level and the presence of cranial nerve and extremity abnormalities in the neurologic examinations were significantly associated with positive brain MRI results in patients with acute AMS.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#Decreases in the hemoglobin level compared to the pre-injury lab results are often observed in patients with elderly hip fractures visiting the emergency department (ED). This decrease could be the outcome of the fracture itself or a complication caused by comorbidities. This study examined whether significant hemoglobin decreases, as detected in the ED, are related to other-than-hip-fracture bleeding focus or clinical outcomes. @*Methods@#The electronic medical records were reviewed retrospectively at a single university ED from January 2012 to March 2019. ED diagnoses of hip fractures were screened and enrolled if the patient was 60 years or older and had hemoglobin levels recorded within the previous 6 months. A significant decrease in the hemoglobin level is defined as more than 2 g/dL. @*Results@#Three hundred patients were enrolled in this study. Significant hemoglobin decreases were apparent in 43 patients (14.3%). Only four patients (1.3%) had an other-than-hip-fracture bleeding focus. One of those had a significant hemoglobin decrease. In a “significant decrease” versus “non-significant decrease” intergroup comparison, length of hospital stays (median and interquartile range: 17.0 [15.0-21.5] vs. 17.0 [12.0-21.0], P=0.55), survival discharge (4.7% vs. 2.3%, P=0.72), and other-than-hip-fracture bleeding focus (2.3% vs. 1.2%, P>0.99) did not differ significantly. @*Conclusion@#A decrease in hemoglobin level is common among elderly hip fracture patients. On the other hand, the incidence of other-than-hip-fracture bleeding focus was rare and unrelated to a decrease in significant hemoglobin levels. Similarly, neither the hospital length of stay nor survival discharge was unrelated to the hemoglobin level decrease.

ABSTRACT

Moderate and deep sedation can effectively relieve or eliminate the pain and body discomfort during wound dressing change in pediatric burn patients, relieve anxiety, agitation, and even delirium of the children, reduce the metabolic rate of the children, make them in a quiet, comfortable, and cooperative state, which is conducive to the smooth completion of dressing change. This paper summarized the three aspects of moderate and deep sedation in pediatric burn patients, including the overview, main points of implementation, and effects, and further introduced the moderate and deep sedation medication regimens for different routes of administration, as well as the content of evaluation and monitoring. Suggestions on the prevention and management of related complications and the management of moderate and deep sedation implementation procedures were put forward, in order to provide references for the development of moderate and deep sedation for wound dressing change in pediatric burn patients in China.

ABSTRACT

The policies of response to and prevention of heat waves in France in 2003 and in South Korea in 2018 were compared and reviewed to see how public health policy orientation was being expanded in connection with urban and social policies. The statistics of the patients with heat illness and resulted death in France in 2003 and South Korea in 2018 were analyzed. The results and limitations of the French and Korean responses to heat waves were compared and discussed. The heat wave in France in 2003 caused an excess death of 14,802. The 2018 heat wave in South Korea resulted in 4,526 cases of heat illness and 48 deaths. France's National Heat wave Plan established in 2004 introduced the warning system and strengthened support for the vulnerable. The heat wave in South Korea in 2018 revealed the success and limitations of the national measures that have been gradually implemented since the mid-2000s. Both France and South Korea are making efforts in preventing heat illness and managing health risk through the warning systems, providing public and social support for the vulnerable, and expanding urban infrastructure. Paris puts priority on the long-term prevention of heat wave, in the wider context of climate change response, while Seoul shows a relatively strong point in immediate infrastructural expansion. In order to respond to the climate crisis and the following health risk, public health policies need to be contrived with deeper connection with urban social policies for sustainable development.

ABSTRACT

Background and Objectives: PNU-74654, a Wnt/ß-catenin inhibitor, has reported antitumor activities; however, the therapeutic potential of PNU-74654 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been investigated in detail. The aim of this study was to clarify the cytotoxic effects of PNU-74654 against HCC and to uncover its molecular mechanism. Materials and Methods: HepG2 and Huh7 liver cancer cell lines were selected to determine the antitumor properties of PNU-74654. Survival of the liver cancer cells in response to PNU-74654 was assessed by cell viability assays, and the apoptosis effect of PNU-74654 was analyzed by flow cytometry and visualized by Hoechst staining. An oncology array was used to explore the underlying molecular routes of PNU-74654 action in the cells. The migration properties were examined with a wound healing assay, and western blotting was conducted to evaluate protein expression. Results: Treatment with PNU-74654 decreased cell viability and inhibited cell migration. The cell cycle analysis and Hoechst staining revealed an increase in the population of cells at the sub-G1 stage and apoptotic morphological changes in the nucleus. The oncology array identified 84 oncology-related proteins and a suppressed expression of Bcl-xL and survivin. Western blotting showed that PNU-74654 could interfere with cell cycle-related proteins through the NF-κB pathway. Conclusions: PNU-74654 shows antiproliferative and antimigration effects against HepG2 and Huh7 cells, and its antitumor activity may be attributable to its interference in cell cycle regulation and the NF-κB pathway.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of moxibustion treatment on the expression of Nogo-A, Nogo receptor (NgR), neurotrophin receptor p75 (p75NTR) and leucine rich repeat and Ig domain containing 1 (Lingo-1) in brain tissue of rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (CI/RI), so as to analyze its mechanism underlying improvement of CI/RI. METHODS: Male SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation group (16 rats), model group (17 rats), NEP1-40 (extracellular peptide residues 1-40, a blocker targeting NgR) group (model+blocker, 17 rats) and moxibustion group (model+moxibustion, 17 rats). The CI/RI model was established by occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery (MCAO). Moxibustion was applied to "Baihui"(GV20), right "Quchi"(LI11) and "Zusanli"(ST36) for 20 min, once a day for 14 days, with 2 days' rest after the top 7 days' intervention. For rats of the NEP1-40 group, 30 µL PBS containing 18 µg NEP 1-40 was injected into the epidural inferior vena (L5-S1) via a polyvinyl chloride conduit. The neurological deficit state in each group was evaluated by Longa's 5-point scale and Feeney's 7-point scale of beam walking test (BWT). The cerebral infarct volume was assessed by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazole chloride staining. The brain tissue between the central anterior and posterior sulcus was taken for observing the expression of NgR and Lingo-1 by fluorescence double-label method, and for determining the expression levels of Nogo-A, NgR, p75NTR and Lingo-1 mRNAs and proteins by real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot, respectively. RESULTS: After modeling, the Longa's score, infarct volu-me percent, expression levels of Nogo-A, NgR, Lingo-1 and p75NTR mRNAs and proteins were significantly increased (P<0.01) and BWT score was obviously decreased (P<0.01) in the model group relevant to the sham operation group. In comparison with the model group, the increase of Longa's score, infarct volume percentage, expression levels of Nogo-A, NgR, Lingo-1 and p75NTR mRNAs and proteins and decrease of BWT score in NEP1-40 and moxibustion groups were reversed (P<0.01) except Nogo-A protein in the NEP1-40 group. The effect of moxibustion was significantly superior to that of blocker NEP1-40 in redu-cing the infarct volume percentage, and down-regulating the expression of Nogo-A mRNA and protein, p75NTR mRNA and protein, NgR and Lingo-1 proteins (P<0.01, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Moxibustion, similar to blocker NEP1-40 of NgR, can improve neurological dysfunction in CI/RI rats, which may be related to its functions in reducing cerebral infarction and down-regulating the activity of Nogo/neurotrophin receptor signaling pathway.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Head and neck cancer is a major malignancy worldwide. The treatment strategy for head and neck cancer usually involves radiotherapy. The main side effect of radiotherapy is radiation dermatitis. Thus, determining the most effective topical regimen for the prevention of radiation dermatitis in head and neck cancer patients is a critical issue. PATIENTS AND METHODS: PRISMA-NMA guidelines were used in this network meta-analysis. We included only randomized control trials. A random effects model was used. Heterogeneity was evaluated by I2 and Cochran's Q tests. RESULTS: We included a total of 1,304 patients in the network meta-analysis. Among them, olive oil was the only effective regimen when compared with usual care (OR=0.18, 95%CI=0.03-0.95). The I2 value was 56%. The test of heterogeneity yielded a p-value of 0.10. CONCLUSION: Olive oil was the most effective regimen for the prevention of radiation dermatitis.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effects and possible mechanisms of ferulic acid on diabetic nephropathy by observing the effects of ferulic acid on the level of inflammation and autophagy in glomerular mesangial cells induced by high glucose. METHODS: SV40 MES 13 cells were cultured and randomly divided into the following groups: normal group (Control, 5.6 mmol/L glucose), mannitol group (Man, 30 mmol/L mannitol), high glucose group (HG, 30 mmol/L glucose), ferulic acid group (FA, 30 mmol/L glucose + 12.5, 25, 50, 100, 200 µmol/L ferulic acid), and the proliferation of SV40 MES 13 cells in each group was observed by MTT method. The levels of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) and interleukin 1ß(IL-1ß)in cell supernatant were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expressions of NLRP3, IL-1ß, LC3-II/I and p62 proteins in SV40 MES 13 cells were detected by Western blot. RESULTS: ①The proliferative activity of SV40 MES 13 cells was significantly higher in the HG group compared to the control group (P<0.01), while the proliferative activity of SV40 MES 13 cells was decreased to different degrees in the FA group compared to the HG group (P<0.05~0.01). ②Compared to the control group, the levels of TNF-α, MCP-1 and IL-1ß were increased significantly in the cell supernatant of HG group (P<0.01). Compared with the HG group, the levels of TNF-α, MCP-1 and IL-1ß were decreased significantly in the FA group (P<0.01). ③Compared with the control group, LC3-II/Ⅰ protein expression was decreased in the HG group, while the levels of p62, NLRP3 and IL-1ß protein were increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with the HG group, the expression of LC3-II/Ⅰ protein was elevated significantly (P<0.05) in the FA group, while the levels of p62, NLRP3 and IL-1ß protein in the FA group were decreased significantly (P< 0.01). CONCLUSION: FA can inhibit the abnormal proliferation of SV40 MES 13 cells induced by high glucose. FA can protect glomerular mesangial cells by inhibiting inflammation and increasing the level of autophagy.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to analyze discussions on the matter of priority in treatment and prevention that took place in the medical community, the government and social hygiene associations to tuberculosis referred to as one of the national calamity in France at the turn of the 20th century. In other words, it is to show that treatment and prevention have complementary properties in France's anti-tuberculosis movement, considering the discussions on which institutions should preferably be expanded - between the Sanatorium that values medical treatment and the anti-tuberculosis dispensary that values social prevention. Tuberculosis, which is known to have existed from the ancient times, spread to the era of industrialization and urbanization, resulting in a large loss of lives in the second half of the 19th century following cholera in the first half of the century. Starting in Germany in the middle of this century, Sanatorium established a treatment for tuberculosis patients with air therapy, proper exercise or rest, and diet. In France, a public Sanatorium was built for the lower class, not like a luxury resort style Sanatorium for the wealthy class, from the 1890s. The spread was slow, however, due to financial problems. In the 1900s, anti-tuberculosis dispensary as a health center were increasingly built in working class quarters. The debate over whether to support the sanatorium or the dispensary was ignited at first, but since the mid-to-late 1900s, the two institutions' roles, namely, medical treatment and social prevention, have been recognized as complementary. The Anti-tuberculosis dispensary Act of 1916 and the Sanatorium Act of 1919 systematically supported the complementary relationship between treatment and prevention in fighting against tuberculosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the effects of different doses of ketoconazole (KCZ) on the physiological functions of the liver and testis in Kunming mice. Methods: Forty male Kunming mice were randomly divided into four groups (n=10): normal group, KCZ low-dose group (30 mg/kg), medium-dose group (50 mg/kg), and high-dose group (70 mg/kg). The mice in the drug groups were injected subcutaneously (0.1 ml/10 g) with the corresponding dose of KCZ once a day, and the concentrations of KCZ in the KCZ low, middle, and high dose groups were 3 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml and 7 mg/ml respectively, and the normal group was injected with the same amount of normal saline for 3 weeks. The activities of aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in serum, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and acid phosphatase (ACP) in testicular tissue were measured. HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes of the liver and testis. Results: Compared with the normal group, the activities of AST and ALT were increased significantly (P<0.01), and the activities of γ-GT, ACP and LDH were decreased markedly in KCZ groups (P<0.01). KCZ could affect the above indexes in a dose-dependent manner. HE staining showed that the hepatocytes were denatured, arranged loosely, and the cytoplasm was light in color. The lumen of the seminiferous tubules of the testis were enlarged, and the number of spermatogenic cells and sperm at all levels were decreased. Conclusion: KCZ could cause physiological function damage and pathological histological changes of the liver and testis, increase the levels of liver transaminase, reduce the activities of testicular specific enzymes of mice. Besides, the degree of damage was increased with the increase of dose.
