ABSTRACT

A description of a COVID-19 patient with the development of exudative pericarditis complicated by cardiac tamponade is provid. A peculiarity of this case is the presence of an underlying disease in the patient (chronic lymphocytic leukemia), which was in remission for 1.5 years after chemotherapy. Another feature of the patient was the relatively small area of lung damage and the hemorrhagic nature of the pericardial effusion, which persisted for a long time. The insignificant activity of inflammatory markers was noteworthy. Possible mechanisms of development and features of the course of exudative pericarditis in the described patient, issues of diagnosis and treatment of this category of patients are discusse.

ABSTRACT

The early and late outcomes of electrical stimulation of the spinal cord are analyzed in chronic critical ischemia of the lower extremities and coronary heart disease with peripheral involvement of coronary arteries. The clinical capacities of this treatment that has enjoyed little use in our country due to its high cost showed atraumaticity of electrical stimulation of the spinal cord; a few cases of complications and no hospital mortality; a rapid positive clinical effect after the initiation of electric neurostimulation, and better life quality in patients in the postoperative periods.

ABSTRACT

The authors had three patients with traumatic damage of the sinus of Valsalva, caused by penetrating injury of the thorax inflicted with a knife. The patients were brought to the clinic in a grave condition with decompensation of systemic and pulmonary circulation. The anomaly called for emergency surgical correction under conditions of extracorporeal circulation. The diagnosis was based on the complaints, medical history, clinical picture, the results of functional methods of examination including echocardiography and catheterization with angiocardiography. The operations consisted in total correction of the heart anomaly. The immediate and late-term results were good.
