ABSTRACT

Retroperitoneal lymphangiomas (RL) are rare benign cystic tumors of the lymphatic system, which account for 1% of all lymphangiomas, and till now less than 200 cases have been reported. We are presenting a 35 years old woman, who was admitted with symptoms of recurrent left lumbar pain. The preliminary diagnosis from CT scan was retroperitoneal cyst. The patient went under explorative laparotomy and whole cyst mass was removed from the surrounding structures using sharp and blunt dissection.

ABSTRACT

Double-J stents are among the basic and commonly used tools in urology. There are a lot of complications that can occur during DJ placement. We are presenting 62 years old woman, who was admitted in Urology Department with symptoms of left lumbar pain, irradiating towards inguinal area and hematuria. The computed tomography (CT) scan of abdomen and pelvis defined a propagated DJ stent in the left kidney. Lumenis Holmium laser VersaPulse 100 W was used for resection of the double J stent and after that it was removed from the kidney in pieces.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Diabetic urinary bladder disfunction is a common problem. Disfunction will occur in about 80% of diabetic patients. Comon symptoms include retention, overactive bladder, sfincted dissinergy and urinary tract infections. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In nine months period from 08.2013. to 05.2014. fourteen patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and diabetes were evaluated by uroflowmetry, cistotonometry with electromyography and pressure flow study. Including criteria consisted of IPSS more than 8, PSA lower than 4, RT carcinoma excluded and prostate size more than 25 cm3. REZULTS: Patient age was 50 to 77 years. In two patients due to acute retention urinary catheter was inserted. Only they were treated with alfa blockers while other patients received no therapy. Four patient had insulin dependant diabetes while ten of them had diabetes regulated with oral antidiabetics. Cistotonometry presented detrusor overactivity in two patients, treated with M cholinergics. In one patient overactive detrusor activity was in the same time presented with urge incontinence and treated in the same way. Normal detrusor activity was recorded in 14 patients on pressure flow evaluation. In 8 patients with Q max more than 15 ml/s treatment was watchfull waiting. In 4 patients with Q max more than 12 ml/s alfa blockers were introduced. In 2 patients with Q max less than 10 ml/s bipolar TURP was the treatment. CONCLUSION: Diabetes and diabetic bladder disfunction will have a great impact on quality of life due to an aging population. All specialities should be informed for diabetic bladder disfunction and necesssity for recognition and treatment. Further investigation is needed in terms of understanding the risk factors, mechanisms and the most adequate therapy.

ABSTRACT

A new design method for two-dimensional (2-D) recursive digital filters is investigated. The design of the 2-D filter is reduced to a constrained minimization problem the solution of which is achieved by the convergence of an appropriate neural network. The method is tested on a numerical example and compared with previously published methods when applied to the same example. Advantages of the proposed method over the existing ones are discussed as well.

ABSTRACT

Laparoscopy was introduced in the beginning of the 20 century. It is developed as a diagnostic procedure, often combined with biopsy. In the 80 ies the laparoscopy came in surgery, first in appendectomy, later in cholecystectomy, where it achieved exclusive appliance and became an alternative method of conventional surgery. In the beginning of 90-ies the laparoscopic surgery treats more and more of diseases of abdominal surgery.

ABSTRACT

A case of a 36-year-old man with pancreatic somatostatinoma is reported. Such cases are very rare. The following signs were found; quick ESR, increased alpha 2- and beta-globulins, shortened Weltmann's coagulation band, increased serum bilirubin level, especially of the conjugated fraction, enzyme constellation of cholestasis and moderate liver cytolysis. Ultrasound examination of the abdomen, retrograde cholangiopancreatography and percutaneous liver cholangiography were performed in order to prove the diagnosis. They demonstrated an obstruction in Vater's papilla region and a bulky process in the head of the pancreas. The patient was operated. The microscopic, electron microscopic and immunohistochemical examinations proved a somatostatinoma of the pancreas. The positive immunohistochemical tests for somatostatin and carcinoembryonal antigen in the tumor cels are especially indicative.
