ABSTRACT

314 children with hypertension living in an urban district have been transmitted to our out patient clinic. These children were discovered by regularly performed examinations of the medical youth care since 1979. We found a secondary cause of hypertension in 2.2 per cent. Risk factors, as for example familiar disposition, hyperlipidaemia, smoking and overweight, were also analysed. A dynamic exercise-test was performed by means of bicycle-ergometry. 43 per cent of the children with elevated blood pressure in rest reacted with hypertension during exercise. Criteria for drug-therapy were the unsuccessful non-medicamentous effects on the hypertension and a hypertension exercise-test. After 2-5 years 55.9 per cent of all children with elevated blood pressure of the beginning of our study became normotensive without drug-therapy.

ABSTRACT

On the basis of former observations that erythrocytes of patients with hereditary spherocytosis (HS) exhibit a slighter K+ efflux under the influence of valinomycin and a diminished shrinking, the attempt was made to use this phenomenon in routine diagnostics. In pair comparison the findings already known could be proved impressively. However, obligatory limiting values which make it possible to dispense with giving statements of comparison could not be established. In this report the test is of limited value for haematological diagnostics.

ABSTRACT

In a prospective study 201 children with healthy kidneys were sonographically examined. Apart from the length unspecific parameters in the ultrasound tomogram, such as possibility to delimit the organ, echogenity and differentiation of the fine structure of the kidneys are demonstrated depending on age. The proportion of smoothly delimited kidneys before the 1st year of age was significantly lower than in the following years. With growing age the possibility to delimit mean echocomplex, renal medulla and renal cortex. In the 1st and 2nd trimenon the echo-richness of the kidneys is to be valuated physiologically. The demonstrated dynamics of sonographic signs shall alleviate the age-specific judgement of renal diseases without disturbance of the urine transport.
