ABSTRACT

The integration of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) into the telerehabilitation initiates a major change in the healthcare practice particularly in neurological and also orthopedic rehabilitation. This essay reflects the potential of the VR and AR in their capacity to create immersive, interactive environments that facilitate the recovery. The recent developments have illustrated the ability to enhance the patient engagement and outcomes, especially in tackling the complex motor and cognitive rehabilitation needs. The combination of artificial intelligence (AI) with VR and AR will bring the rehabilitation to the next level by enabling adaptive and responsive treatment programs provided through real-time feedback and predictive analytics. Nevertheless, the issues such as availability, cost, and digital gap among many others present huge obstacles to the mass adoption. This essay provides a very thorough review of the existing level of virtual reality and augmented reality in rehabilitation and examines the many potential gains, drawbacks, and future directions from a different perspective.

ABSTRACT

A common consequence of moderate to extreme periodontitis is pathologic migration. This denotes tooth movement when the periodontal disease interjects the equilibrium among the elements that preserve physiological tooth position. The balancing factors can migrate the teeth in any direction. The etiology of pathological migration tends to be multifactorial, thus achieving early diagnosis is imperative, which will ultimately lead to the prompt removal of the etiological factors while avoiding severe bone destruction. In this case maxillary central incisors had diastema due to pathological migration with mobility grade I in maxillary left central incisor. Many cases of moderate to severe pathological migration need a suitable, interdisciplinary approach. Nevertheless, since it is possible to detect mild cases of Pathological tooth migration (PTM) at an early stage, spontaneous correction of migrated teeth can be accomplished by periodontal therapy alone. Regardless of the treatment selected, maintenance of stable results should be considered as an aim of treatment.

ABSTRACT

Avascular necrosis of the femur is a painful condition marked by a disruption in the blood supply to the femoral head, which causes the femur bone to distort; characterized by pain and restriction of movements at the affected joint with a limp. The study aimed to provide a case of nontraumatic stage-4 avascular necrosis of the left femoral head with gross 40-degree adductor deformity. In this report, a 27-year-old female complained of pain in her left hip joint and difficulty in walking. She was a known case of pyogenic arthritis with 5 cm of true shortening on her left side and a gross 40-degree adduction deformity of her left leg. According to Ficat and Arlet's grading system, an X-ray showed stage-4 avascular necrosis of the left femoral head. For this, she was managed with adductor tenotomy, medications, and physiotherapy management with a one-month rehabilitation protocol. A physiotherapy intervention consists of a non-weight-bearing phase and a weight-bearing phase. At the time of her physiotherapy discharge, the patient experienced alleviation from symptoms and achieved functional mobility that she had previously been unable to tolerate owing to pain. As a result, physical therapy rehabilitation has been proved to be highly beneficial. This case study concludes that multidisciplinary team including medical, surgical approach and physiotherapy rehabilitation played a vital role in reducing pain; enhance muscle strength, functional independence, and quality of life in patients with stage 4 avascular necrosis of the femur followed by pyogenic arthritis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The purpose of this research is to compare over the developing trend in Covid-19 research publications between 2020 and 2021 in India, overall in respect of age groups, health conditions, funding support, institutions, and research design. Background: Covid-19 is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV), first cited in Wuhan, China in December 2019. And has affected the entire world rapidly and still ongoing. The symptoms are fever, cough, weakness, and breathlessness; the infected individual develops pneumonia that sometimes leads to respiratory failure. The older population with co-morbidities is at higher risk. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study done by Scopus, Web of Science, and Pubmed Indexed journals, with the Covid-19, SARS-CoV, Pandemic, Coronavirus, India, and Outburst as keywords. Yearly publication data were extracted through 'Bibliometrix R studio' and relative percentage was computed and linear or exponential regressions examined the yearly growth in the proportion to research publications on Covid-19.
