ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the metabolic differences between normal, prediabetic and diabetic patients with good and poor glycaemic control (GGC and PGC). DESIGN: In this study, 1102 individuals were included, and 50 metabolites were analysed using tandem mass spectrometry. The diabetes diagnosis and treatment standards of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) were used to classify patients. METHODS: The nearest neighbour method was used to match controls and cases in each group on the basis of age, sex and BMI. Factor analysis was used to reduce the number of variables and find influential underlying factors. Finally, Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to check the correlation between both glucose and HbAc1 as independent factors with binary classes. RESULTS: Amino acids such as glycine, serine and proline, and acylcarnitines (AcylCs) such as C16 and C18 showed significant differences between the prediabetes and normal groups. Additionally, several metabolites, including C0, C5, C8 and C16, showed significant differences between the diabetes and normal groups. Moreover, the study found that several metabolites significantly differed between the GGC and PGC diabetes groups, such as C2, C6, C10, C16 and C18. The correlation analysis revealed that glucose and HbA1c levels significantly correlated with several metabolites, including glycine, serine and C16, in both the prediabetes and diabetes groups. Additionally, the correlation analysis showed that HbA1c significantly correlated with several metabolites, such as C2, C5 and C18, in the controlled and uncontrolled diabetes groups. CONCLUSIONS: These findings could help identify new biomarkers or underlying markers for the early detection and management of diabetes.

ABSTRACT

The inhibition of the α-glucosidase enzyme is crucial for targeting type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). This study introduces a series of synthetic analogs based on thiomethylacetamide-quinoline derivatives linked to diphenyl-imidazole as highly potential α-glucosidase inhibitors. Twenty derivatives were synthesized and screened in vitro against α-glucosidase, revealing IC50 values ranging from 0.18 ± 0.00 to 2.10 ± 0.07 µM, in comparison to the positive control, acarbose. Among these derivatives, compound 10c (IC50 = 0.180 µM) demonstrated the highest potency and revealed a competitive inhibitory mechanism in kinetic studies (Ki = 0.15 µM). Docking and molecular dynamic evaluations elucidated the binding mode of 10c with the active site residues of the α-glucosidase enzyme. Moreover, in vivo assessments on a rat model of DM affirmed the anti-diabetic efficacy of 10c, evidenced by reduced fasting and overall blood glucose levels. The histopathological evaluation enhanced pancreatic islet architecture and hepatocytes in liver sections. In conclusion, novel 2-(quinoline-2-ylthio)acetamide derivatives as potent α-glucosidase inhibitors were developed. Compound 10c emerged as a promising candidate for diabetes management, warranting further investigation for potential clinical applications and mechanistic insights.

ABSTRACT

Inhibition of α-glucosidase and α-amylase is an important target for treatment of type 2 diabetes. In this work, a novel series of pyrano[2,3-b]chromene derivatives 5a-m was designed based on potent α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitors and synthesized by simple chemical reactions. These compounds were evaluated against the latter enzymes. Most of the title compounds exhibited high inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase and α-amylase in comparison to standard inhibitor (acarbose). Representatively, the most potent compound, 4-methoxy derivative 5d, was 30.4 fold more potent than acarbose against α-glucosidase and 6.1 fold more potent than this drug against α-amylase. In silico molecular modeling demonstrated that compound 5d attached to the active sites of α-glucosidase and α-amylase with a favorable binding energies and established interactions with important amino acids. Dynamics of compound 5d also showed that this compound formed a stable complex with the α-glucosidase active site. In silicodrug-likeness as well as ADMET prediction of this compound was also performed and satisfactory results were obtained.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in the North Africa and Middle East region is alarmingly high, prompting us to investigate the burden and factors contributing to it through the GBD study. Additionally, there is a lack of knowledge about the epidemiological status of T2DM in this region, so our aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the burden of T2DM and its associated risk factors. METHODS: Using data from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease Study, we calculated the attributable burden of T2DM for each of the 21 countries in the region for the years 1990 and 2019. This included prevalence, mortality, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and risk factors. RESULTS: Between 1990 and 2019, there was a significant increase in the age-standardized incidence (79.6%; 95% Uncertainty Interval: 75.0 to 84.5) and prevalence (85.5%; [80.8 to 90.3]) rates of T2DM per 100,000 populations. The age-standardized mortality rate (1.7%; [-10.4 to 14.9]), DALYs (31.2%; [18.3 to 42.2]), and years lived with disability (YLDs) (82.6%; [77.2 to 88.1]) also increased during this period. Modifiable risk factors, such as high body mass index (56.4%; [42.8 to 69.8]), low physical activity (15.5%; [9.0 to 22.8]), and ambient particulate matter pollution (20.9%; [15.2 to 26.2]), were the main contributors to the number of deaths. CONCLUSION: The burden of T2DM, in terms of mortality, DALYs, and YLDs, continues to rise in the region. The incidence rate of T2DM has increased in many areas. The burden of T2DM attributed to modifiable risk factors continues to grow in most countries. Targeting these modifiable risk factors could effectively reduce the growth and disease burden of T2DM in the region.

ABSTRACT

AIMS: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is rising worldwide. Self-care prevents diabetic complications. Lack of knowledge is one reason patients fail at self-care. Intelligent digital health (IDH) solutions have a promising role in training self-care behaviors based on patients' needs. This study reviews the effects of RCTs offering individualized self-care training systems for T2D patients. METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Science Direct databases were searched. The included RCTs provided data-driven, individualized self-care training advice for T2D patients. Due to the repeated studies measurements, an all-time-points meta-analysis was conducted to analyze the trends over time. The revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool (RoB 2.0) was used for quality assessment. RESULTS: In total, 22 trials met the inclusion criteria, and 19 studies with 3071 participants were included in the meta-analysis. IDH interventions led to a significant reduction of HbA1c level in the intervention group at short-term (in the third month: SMD = - 0.224 with 95% CI - 0.319 to - 0.129, p value < 0.0; in the sixth month: SMD = - 0.548 with 95% CI - 0.860 to - 0.237, p value < 0.05). The difference in HbA1c reduction between groups varied based on patients' age and technological forms of IDH services delivery. The descriptive results confirmed the impact of M-Health technologies in improving HbA1c levels. CONCLUSIONS: IDH systems had significant and small effects on HbA1c reduction in T2D patients. IDH interventions' impact needs long-term RCTs. This review will help diabetic clinicians, self-care training system developers, and researchers interested in using IDH solutions to empower T2D patients.

ABSTRACT

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the primary cause of mortality and disability among diabetes. The aim of this study is to evaluate how healthy eating index-2015 related to risk factors for cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 490 patients with type 2 diabetes in Tehran, Iran. The healthy eating index-2015 (HEI-2015) used as a diet quality indicator. Dietary intake was assessed by a valid and reliable semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Four indicators of CVD risk factor [Castelli risk index-1 and 2 (CRI-II), atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), cholesterol index (CI), and lipid accumulation of plasma (LAP)] were calculated. The anthropometric indices [a body shape index (ABSI), abdominal volume index (AVI), and body roundness index (BRI)] were computed. Results: After adjusting for potential confounders, it is evident that participants in the highest tertile of HEI had a lower odds ratio of BRI (OR: 0.52; 95% CI: 0.29-0.95; p-trend = 0.03) and AIP (OR:0.56; 95% CI: 0.34-0.94; p-trend = 0.02). Also, HEI and CRI had a marginally significant negative relation (OR: 0.61; 95% CI: 0.38-1; p-trend = 0.05) in crude model, after adjusting the signification disappeared. Conclusion: In conclusion, our finding shows that more adherence to HEI reduces about 50% of the odds of AIP, BRI among diabetic patients. Further, large-scale cohort studies in Iran need to confirm these findings, including diabetic patients of various racial, ethnic backgrounds, body composition and different components of HEI.

ABSTRACT

In this work, a new series of quinoline-quinazolinone-thioacetamide derivatives 9a-p were designed using a combination of effective pharmacophores of the potent α-glucosidase inhibitors. These compounds were synthesized by simple chemical reactions and evaluated for their anti-α-glucosidase activity. Among the tested compounds, compounds 9a, 9f, 9g, 9j, 9k, and 9m demonstrated significant inhibition effects in comparison to the positive control acarbose. Particularly, compound 9g with inhibitory activity around 83-fold more than acarbose exhibited the best anti-α-glucosidase activity. Compound 9g showed a competitive type of inhibition in the kinetic study, and the molecular simulation studies demonstrated that this compound with a favorable binding energy occupied the active site of α-glucosidase. Furthermore, in silico ADMET studies of the most potent compounds 9g, 9a, and 9f were performed to predict their drug-likeness, pharmacokinetic, and toxicity properties.

ABSTRACT

An important target in the treatment of type 2 diabetes is α-glucosidase. Inhibition of this enzyme led to delay in glucose absorption and decrease in postprandial hyperglycemia. A new series of phthalimide-phenoxy-1,2,3-triazole-N-phenyl (or benzyl) acetamides 11a-n were designed based on the reported potent α-glucosidase inhibitors. These compounds were synthesized and screened for their in vitro inhibitory activity against the latter enzyme. The majority of the evaluated compounds displayed high inhibition effects (IC50 values in the range of 45.26 ± 0.03-491.68 ± 0.11 µM) as compared to the positive control acarbose (IC50 value = 750.1 ± 0.23 µM). Among this series, compounds 11j and 11i represented the most potent α-glucosidase inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 45.26 ± 0.03 and 46.25 ± 0.89 µM. Kinetic analysis revealed that the compound 11j is a competitive inhibitor with a Ki of 50.4 µM. Furthermore, the binding interactions of the most potent compounds in α-glucosidase active site were studied through molecular docking and molecular dynamics. The latter studies confirmed the obtained results through in vitro experiments. Furthermore, in silico pharmacokinetic study of the most potent compounds was also performed.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Adoption of international working group on the diabetic foot (IWGDF) guidance on prevention and management of foot problems in patients with diabetes was the study aim. Methods: The ADAPTE process consisted of three main phases of set-up, adoption, and finalization with overall 24 steps was used. In set- up phase, organizing committee by a multidisciplinary approach was established. In adoption phase, comprehensive search in databases and guideline resources was done. According to the inclusion criteria, the 2015IWGDF guidance was selected for adoption process. Quality, currency, content and consistency of the guidance were assessed. Also, consensus on different level of agreement for each recommendation were reported. On finalization phase, the adopted version was reviewed by the guidance developer and the final guidance for local use in Iran was disseminated. Results: The 2015 IWGDF guidance with 77 recommendations was adopted after screening of 1760 documents retrieved from Jan. 2006 to Nov. 2016. An organizing committee was established according to a multidisciplinary approach including 73 members with endocrinology, orthopedic & vascular surgery, dermatology, infectious diseases, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialties, general practitioners and nurses. This guidance obtained a good quality in all six domains of AGREE II instrument (Score ≥ 80%), good currency, content, and consistency. Also, during the third round of Delphi, the consensus on the agreement level of each recommendation were greater than 80% and 77 recommendations of the original guidance were kept in the adopted version. Conclusion: The 2015 IWGDF guidance with 77 recommendations adopted for local use in different health care settings of Iran. BACKGROUND: Malnutrition in childhood has lasting consequences; its effects not only last a lifetime but are also passed down from generation to generation such as short stature, school-aged children are the most vulnerable section of the population and require special attention, including nutrition. METHOD: We searched Medline through PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science to identify all observational studies published before Jun 2022. Observational studies with a pediatric population aged 5-18 years that evaluated risk estimate with 95% confidence intervals the relationship between dietary diversity and undernutrition (wasting, stunting, and thinness) were included. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) were followed. RESULTS: This is a first systematic review and meta-analysis with a total of 20 studies were eligible (n = 18 388). Fourteen data evaluated stunting resulting in a pooled effect size estimated odds ratio of 1.43 (95% CI: 1.08-1.89; p = 0.013). Ten data evaluated Thinness resulting in a pooled effect size estimated odds ratio of 1.10 (95% CI: 0.81-1.49; P = 0.542). Two studies were revealed wasting with a odds ratio of 2.18 (95% CI: 1.41-3.36; p-value < 0.001). CONCLUSION: According to the conclusions of this meta-analysis of cross-sectional studies, inadequate dietary diversity increases the risk of undernutrition in growth linear but not in thinness in school-aged children. The findings of this analysis suggest that initiatives that support improvements to the diversity of children's diets to reduce the risk of undernutrition may be warranted in LMICs.

ABSTRACT

Background: Psychiatric disorders have been a challenge for public health and will bring economic problems to individuals and healthcare systems in the future. One of the important factors that could affect these disorders is diet. Objective: In the current study with a cross-sectional design, we investigated the association of Paleolithic and Mediterranean diets with psychological disorders in a sample of adult women. Methods: Participants were 435 adult women between 20 and 50 years old that refer to healthcare centers in the south of Tehran, Iran. The diet scores were created by the response to a valid and reliable semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), and the psychological profile was determined by response to the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21). The multivariable-adjusted logistic regression was applied to compute the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: After adjusted for potential confounders, it is evident that participants in the highest Paleolithic diet tertile had lower odds of depression (OR = 0.21; 95% CI: 0.12, 0.37: P < 0.001), anxiety (OR = 0.27; 95% CI: 0.16, 0.45: P < 0.001), and stress (OR = 0.19; 95% CI: 0.11, 0.32; P < 0.001) in comparison to the lowest tertile. Furthermore, those in the third tertile of the Mediterranean diet score were at lower risk of depression (OR = 0.20; 95% CI: 0.11, 0.36; P < 0.001), anxiety (OR = 0.22; 95% CI: 0.13, 0.38; P < 0.001), and stress (OR = 0.23; 95% CI: 0.13, 0.39; P < 0.001) compared with those in the first tertile. Conclusion: The result of the current study suggests that greater adherence to Paleolithic and Mediterranean dietary patterns may be related with a decreased risk of psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, and stress.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The study aim was to evaluate the effects of public lockdown during the covid-19 pandemic on glucose and metabolic parameters as well as body weight control in type 2 diabetic patients. METHODS: This study was conducted in two outpatient Diabetes Clinics and analyzed data available in database of Diabetes Clinic. Data related to a year before covid-19 pandemic and a year during covid-19 pandemic was collected from the database and analyzed. Patients with type 2 diabetes included in the analysis if they had referred to Diabetes Clinics both before and during covid-19 pandemic. Demographic information and data about metabolic status were collected from the records of previous outpatient Clinic visits and compared RESULTS: Finally 9440 patients with mean age of 61.08 ± 11.62 referred to Diabetes Clinics in both the year before and the year of the corona pandemic. Mean FBS and HbA1c in diabetes patients reduced significantly from 155.37 ± 62.93 and 7.97 ± 1.74 before pandemic, respectively to 138.77 ± 45.39 and 7.54 ± 1.34, respectively during covid-19 outbreak. During covid-19 pandemic, all metabolic parameters including glycemic and lipid profile (except for triglyceride) and BMI (body mass index) reduced significantly statistically, but, these changes were not clinically significant. However, triglyceride level increased statistically significantly but again it was not significant clinically. CONCLUSION: During COVID-19 lockdown, glycemic and metabolic control of diabetes patients have improved significantly except for triglycerides.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to report the burden of type one diabetes mellitus (T1DM) by sex, age, year, and province in Iran over the past 30 years, according to data provided by the global burden of disease (GBD) study. Incidence, prevalence, death, disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), years of life lost, and years lived with disability due to T1DM by age groups and sex was reported for 31 provinces of Iran from 1990 to 2019 with their 95% uncertainty intervals (UI). In 2019, national age-standardized incidence (11.0 (95% UI: 8.9-13.5)), prevalence (388.9 (306.1-482.1)), death (0.7 (0.6-0.8)), and DALYs (51.7 (40.9-65.1)) rates per 100,000 wre higher than 1990 except for death. Also, the mortality to incidence ratio reduced in all provinces over time particularly after 2014 as well. GBD data analysis showed that age-standardized incidence and prevalence rates of T1DM have increased, the death rate reduced, and DALYs remained unchanged during the past 30 years in Iran and its 31 provinces. death rate reduced and DALYs remained unchanged during the past 30 years in Iran and its 31 provinces.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess geographic inequalities in the prevalence, awareness of diagnosis, treatment coverage and effective control of diabetes in 429 districts of Iran. METHODS: A modelling study by the small area estimation method, based on a nationwide cross-sectional survey, Iran STEPwise approach to surveillance (STEPS) 2016, was performed. The modelling estimated the prevalence, awareness of diagnosis, treatment coverage, and effective control of diabetes in all 429 districts of Iran based on data from available districts. The modelling results were provided in different geographical and socio-economic scales to make the comparison possible across the country. RESULTS: In 2016, the prevalence of diabetes ranged from 3.2 to 19.8% for women and 2.4 to 19.1% for men. The awareness of diagnosis ranged from 51.9 to 95.7% for women and 35.7 to 100% for men. The rate of treatment coverage ranged from 37.2 to 85.6% for women and 24.4 to 80.5% for men. The rate of effective control ranged from 12.1 to 63.6% for women and 12 to 73% for men. The highest treatment coverage rates belonged to Ardebil for women and Shahr-e-kord for men. The highest effective control rates belonged to Sanandaj for women and Nehbandan for men. Across Iran districts, there were considerable differences between the highest and lowest rates of prevalence, diagnosis awareness, treatment coverage, and effective control of diabetes. The concentration indices of diabetes prevalence, awareness of diagnosis, and treatment coverage were positive and significant for both sexes. CONCLUSION: Findings of this study highlight the existence of inequalities in diagnosis awareness, treatment coverage, and effective control of diabetes in all Iran regions. More suitable population-wide strategies and policies are warranted to handle these inequalities in Iran.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has been a shocking disaster for healthcare systems worldwide since December 2019. This virus can affect all systems of the body and its symptoms vary from a simple upper respiratory infection to fatal complications including end-organ damage. On the other hand, the normal immune system plays a pivotal role in the recovery of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. However, occasionally, exaggerated immune system inflammation and an excessive synthesis of cytokines, known as a "cytokine storm," can deteriorate the patient's clinical condition. Secondary bacterial co-infection is another problem in COVID-19 which affects the prognosis of patients. Although there are a few studies about this complication, they suggest not using antibiotics commonly, especially broad-spectrum ones. During this pandemic, various approaches and therapeutics were introduced for treating COVID-19 patients. However, available treatments are not helpful enough, especially for complicated cases. Hence, in this era, cell therapy and regenerative medicine will create new opportunities. Therefore, the therapeutic benefits of mesenchymal stem cells, especially their antimicrobial activity, will help us understand how to treat COVID-19. Herein, mesenchymal stem cells may stop the immune system from becoming overactive in COVID-19 patients. On the other side, the stem cells' capacity for repair could encourage natural healing processes.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether patient-physician gender concordance influences the patient's perceptions of interpersonal processes of care and patient outcomes in Muslim patients with diabetes. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional telephone survey involving 4152 randomly selected patients using electronic diabetes records. Outcome measures included perceptions of interpersonal processes of care, adherence to medications, and HbA1c. Linear mixed regression models were used to explore the associations between the outcome variables and patient gender and gender concordance. RESULTS: The best processes of care were observed consistently for female concordant dyads. In adjusted mixed models, lower Hurried Communication was associated with female concordant (-0.91, p < 0.001) and female physician-male patient dyads (-0.82, p = 0.007). Higher Elicited Concerns was associated with female concordant (0.65, p = 0.003) and female physician-male patient dyads (0.59, p = 0.013). Higher Explained Results and Compassionate/Respectful were associated with female concordant dyads (0.83, p < 0.001, and 0.55, p = 0.010 respectively). Lower HbA1c was independently linked with female concordant dyads (-0.84, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: This study highlights the importance of female gender concordance on perceptions of interpersonal processes of diabetes care and glycemic control. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: Strengthening physicians' communication skills with female patients should be taken into consideration.

ABSTRACT

Tissue engineering as an important field in regenerative medicine is a promising therapeutic approach to replace or regenerate injured tissues. It consists of three vital steps including the selection of suitable cells, formation of 3d scaffolds, and adding growth factors. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and embryonic stem cells (ESCs) are mentioned as two main sources for this approach that have been used for the treatment of various types of disorders. However, the main focus of literature in the field of dental tissue engineering is on utilizing MSCs. On the other hand, biocompatible scaffolds play a notable role in this regenerative process which is mentioned to be harmless with acceptable osteoinductivity. Their ability in inhibiting inflammatory responses also makes them powerful tools. Indeed, stem cell functions should be supported by biomaterials acting as scaffolds incorporated with biological signals. Naturally derived polymeric scaffolds and synthetically engineered polymeric/ceramic scaffolds are two main types of scaffolds regarding their materials that are defined further in this review. Various strategies of tissue bioengineering can affect the regeneration of dentin-pulp complex, periodontium regeneration, and whole teeth bioengineering. In this regard, in vivo/ex vivo experimental models have been developed recently in order to perform preclinical studies of dental tissue engineering which make it more transferable to be used for clinic uses. This review summarizes dental tissue engineering through its different components. Also, strategies of tissue bioengineering and experimental models are introduced in order to provide a perspective of the potential roles of dental tissue engineering to be used for clinical aims.

ABSTRACT

Background: A considerable amount of research funding goes to diabetes management strategies to improve therapeutic goals and reduce the burden of diabetes. A vast amount of the budget is wasted due to unnecessary studies. A scoping review is a pivotal study to overview the available evidence and avoid research waste. In this review, we will try to find out the scope of available studies on diabetes management interventions, identify associated research gaps, and prioritize future studies. Method: We will carry out a study using Arksey and O'Malley's scoping review framework. We will search the Scopus and PubMed databases from 01/01/2015 till 01/01/2020. Only original articles related to pharmacological and non-pharmacological management interventions will be included. These interventional studies should be conducted on the Iranian population. After data extraction, a descriptive data analysis will be used to present information in different charts or tables. We will evaluate related published articles based on their document type, level of evidence, type of diabetes, subject area, interventions types, main findings and outcomes. Discussion: This study represents the first attempt to sum up available studies related to diabetes management interventions performed in Iran. The results of this study will be useful for all the stakeholders and policy-makers involved in diabetes research. It can help clinicians to be informed about studies on management interventions and can guide scientists eager to diabetes research to choose their future research plans based on diabetes research requirements and gaps.

Purpose: Diabetes care is one of the major healthcare problems . This study aimed to introduce a recently-developed Quality of Care Index (QCI) for type 2 diabetes and utilized it to compare different genders, age groups, and Iranian provinces. Methods: From the Global Burden of Disease 1990-2019 database, we obtained primary epidemiologic measures and combined them to build four secondary indices, all indicating the quality of care provided to patients. We utilized the principal component analysis (PCA) method to calculate the substantial component named QCI (with a scale of 0-100). Gender inequality was shown by the gender disparity ratio (GDR), defining female to male QCI. Results: National QCI ranged from 43.0 in 1990 to 38.6 in 2019. By excluding the more frequent outlier province; Tehran as the Capital of Iran, the QCI score reached 50.27 in 2019. The GDR decreased from 1.04 to 0.95. QCI indicated rather more favorable conditions in Iranian provinces with a higher socio-demographic index (SDI). Conversely, provinces with a lower SDI had worse QCI. In 2019, Tehran, the capital of Iran, with the highest (58.5), and South Khorasan with the lowest QCIs (0.4) were the two Iranian provinces' extremes. Moreover, the elderly QCI improved in 2019. Conclusion: During 1990-2019, there are remarkable disparities between Iran's provinces, genders and age groups. The equitable and widespread provision of facilities should be considered along with the decentralization of healthcare resources.
