ABSTRACT
PIP: A study was carried out to determine the extent of maternal infection with T. gondii responsible for reproductive disorders in Pondicherry. A total of 368 serum samples from women of reproductive age were tested by indirect hemagglutination. In a group of 240, 30 sera (12.5%) showed a significantly high antibody titer of 256 and above. The difference between control and study groups was statistically significant. High antibody titer was recorded in 13% of the habitual abortion cases, 6.7% of the sporadic abortion, 8.3% of the congenital anomalies, 13% of the stillbirths, and 17.2% of the premature births. Maternal infection with T. gondii appears to be responsible for 12.5% of fetal wastage in this part of India.^ieng

Most urinary fistulae of obstetric origin involve the bladder. The ureter is rarely injured. The authors report three cases of uretero-uterine fistulae, an entity accounting for 1.6% of all urinary fistulae resulting from obstetric trauma. Diagnosis and management are discussed with reference to 19 cases of uretero-uterine fistulae reported in the literature.
