ABSTRACT

A review of the current literature on the possible use of mexidol (ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate) in the treatment of mental (including addictive) disorders is conducted. The possibility of its use to reduce negative psychopathological symptoms, neurocognitive deficit, manifestations of the antipsychotic syndrome (including its extrapyramidal disorders) in antipsychotic treatment of patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and insomnia disorders in the complex therapy of borderline mental disorders has been shown. The potential of mexidol in the treatment of addictive pathology, as well as the effects of intoxication caused by alcohol and other psychoactive (including narcotic) substances, deserves special attention.

ABSTRACT

Analysis of different aspects of application of extracorporeal hemocorrection (EH) in psychiatric practice allows to make a conclusion about the necessity of a differential approach to the use of isolated and combined procedures. The latter were assessed by the results of combined treatment of 226 patients. Indications and contra-indications for EH use in psychiatric practice are outlined.

ABSTRACT

544 patients resistant to pharmacotherapy were treated by different methods of extracorporal hemocorrection (EH). Positive changes in mental state were achieved in more than half of the patients by means of EH without any psychopharmacologic drugs. These changes were caused by antipsychotic and antidepressive effects of EH as well as by its ability to normalize biochemical, immunological and rheological blood indices

ABSTRACT

The state of medical psychiatric service and the outlook for its improvement in Armed Forces of Russian Federation have been analyzed. In peace time it is reasonable to organize medical psychological and psychiatric care to military men with border disorders, to psychosomatic patients and also to really healthy men, who are in critical situation, to elaborate a new organized structure of staff, providing psychoprophylactic care. During war conflicts it is important to foresee in forward zone the corrective activities and treatment of patients with psychological stress reactions and addict disorders, to provide the wounded with psychiatric correction and care.

ABSTRACT

The border psychic disorders are the main cause of the personnel discharge. Its frequency for many years remains on the high level and has no tendency towards decrease. To solve the problem of maintaining psychic health of servicemen is possible by psychiatric care reorganization with participation of social and military psychologists, specialists in professional selection, psychotherapy, etc. For introduction of highly effective psychodiagnostic, corrective and therapeutic methods into practice it is reasonable to create the psychoprophylactic centers (main, district, army, divisional).

ABSTRACT

On the basis of the analysis of literature the authors make a correction in the significance of terms "addiction" and "addictive behaviour", making from them a single notion "additive disorders". The article analyses the problem of addictive disorders which occupied an important place among psychiatric casualties in the 40th Army during the war in Afghanistan. The comparison of this experience with the experience of the US Army in Korea and Vietnam gave the possibility to come to a conclusion that addictive disorders were an important medico-social problem for modern local wars. Its subdivision into addictive behaviour and narcomanic pathology lead to a necessity to revise some aspects in psychiatric care to servicemen in wartime period.

ABSTRACT

In order to improve the organization of psychiatric care in modern local wars and armed conflicts the authors propose to follow a number of basic principles: to bring psychiatric care closer to the forward combat zone; to realize prognostic triage throughout casualty staging; to assure in maximum the return of minimally wounded and sick to their ranks directly from the forward zone; to unify the approaches to diagnosis, treatment and rating evaluation of psychic disorders; to observe the sequence and succession in psychiatric care; to realize recovery measures throughout all stages.
