ABSTRACT

This study was designed to follow up dynamics of the recovery of cognitive functions after comprehensive medical rehabilitation of the patients with organic brain disorders using a bioacoutsic correction technique. A peculiar feature of this method is it allows for involuntary self-regulation of the functional state of the central nervous system and therefore can be used to treat patients experiencing cognitive problems. It was shown that the application of the method of bioacoustic correction promotes restoration of cognitive functions, reduces anxiety, and normalizes parameters of electroencephalograms.

ABSTRACT

We have designed a new Self-Service scale for assessing patients with cerebral stroke. This scale enables to determine the degree of patients' self-servicing in everyday life, his/her social activity, mobility, memory and speech. It was administered to 59 patients (33 men and 26 women) aged from 35 to 79 years at admission to and discharge from the hospital. Assessment of a specialist has been compared to that of an expert by all subscales and by cumulative index of the Scale as well as to the results of other psychometric scales used in clinical practice. The results revealed the high construction and criterion validity, both current and prognostic, and high reliability of the scale.
