ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Purpose: to identify evidence regarding the treatment of sleep bruxism with neurofeedback, as well as gaps in such evidence, through mapping studies, and how treatment protocols were performed. Methods: the proposed review will be conducted in accordance with the JBI methodology for scope reviews. The search strategy will aim to locate published and unpublished studies. The main databases to search include MEDLINE, Embase, LILACS, PsycINFO, Web of Science and Scopus. Gray literature and relevant materials will be included. Two independent reviewers will select titles and abstracts for evaluation, according to the inclusion criteria for the review. The search results will be reported and presented in a PRISMA flowchart. Data will be extracted from materials included in the scoping review using a data extraction tool. The results found will be presented in an organized table with the variables, with data being presented through diagrams, narratives and tables. Conclusion: a narrative summary will be performed that will accompany the tabulated results and describe the relationship of these results with the objectives and questions of this scoping review, that may lead to encouraging further research on this topic, bringing a new clinical approach evidence to the management of sleep bruxism.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Objective: To investigate the existence of validated protocols for the care of periodontal patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), to transform them into recommendations for actions that could be developed within the scope of primary health care. Methods: A scoping review was carried out, and the literature published from 2012 to 2019 was reviewed in the PubMed, Scielo, LILACS, Web of Science and Scopus databases, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Results: 236 titles were found, of which 37 were selected for full reading. The articles were grouped into four axes, according to the similarity of approaches to the subject addressed. Conclusion: Studies investigating the impact of the integration of medical and dental care in the glycemic control of patients with DM2 and validating the clinical protocols for multidisciplinary care for this patient in the context of primary health care should be carried out.

ABSTRACT

(AU)

Objective: Assess the prevalence of cases of apical periodontitis (AP) and conduct a thorough analysis of endodontic treatment in upper and lower molars performed at the Clinical Expertise of Pernambuco Dental School, University of Pernambuco (known by its Brazilian acronym FOP-UPE). Method: Were selected 166 periapical radiographs of upper and lower molars, following inclusion and exclusion criteria, belonging to patients of both sexes. The analysis was made by a single observer. Results: From the data analysis, it is inferred that there is need for continuous scientific updating by the professionals, longitudinal control of endodontic treatments and encourage the standardization of prevalence studies of apical periodontitis to avoid false positive results. The prevalence of apical periodontitis (AP) in the sample analyzed was 47.24% (N = 77). Of the 77 cases of AP, 80.52% (N = 62) had defect at the root canal obturation and 68.84% (N = 53) of cases were in the CDC limit and 16.88% (N = 13) were at the exact shutter limit. Conclusions: The prevalence of apical periodontitis in the study is according to the world literature about the theme. The presence of periapex injury is linked to fails in the quality of the root canals obturation than fails at the apical shutter limit... (AU)
