ABSTRACT
Se trata de ofrecer una guía de práctica clínica de la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, que es considerada la enfermedad respiratoria más prevalente, que causa más ingresos hospitalarios y la que condicionamás consultas en asistencia primaria.Para ello se ha revisado la bibliografía reciente basada en la evidencia científica, actualizando las recomen-daciones para el diagnóstico y su tratamiento. Con ello, se pretende que todos los profesionales de la salud que tratan a los pacientes con enfermedad pulmonar obstruc-tiva crónica, tanto en atención primaria como especia-lizada, tengan un instrumento práctico y homogéneo que proporcione a los pacientes y usuarios en general la atención actualizada y adecuada, así como las medidas preventivas encaminadas a disminuir la prevalencia de esta enfermedad.El manejo de la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica debe ser contemplado por un equipo multidisciplinario
The authors propose a clinical practice guideline for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is considered to be the most prevalent respiratory disease, responsible for the greatest number of hospital admissions and primary care visits.For this purpose, the recent science-based literature was reviewed, and the recommendations for the diagnosisand treatment of this disease were updated. The aim is to provide all the health care professionals whotreat patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, both in the primary and specialized care settings, with a practical, standardized tool that offers patients and users in general updated and proper care, as well as the preventive measures designed to reduce the prevalence of this disease.The management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease should involve a multidisciplinary team
