ABSTRACT

ECG assessment after the Minnesota code with defining "definite" CHD and "expected" CHD was used as one of the criteria of establishing diagnosis in mass screening of the population to find out CHD prevalence. A profound clinico-instrumental study of 100 men aged 20 to 59 with "expected" CHD showed that in 16% ECG-changes reflected true CHD, in 42% they were determined by noncoronarogenic causes. In 42% of the cases cardiovascular pathology was undetectable among the persons with "expected" CHD. Significant incidence of the noncoronarogenic pathology in the population is of interest to research.

ABSTRACT

The study analyses the results of examinations of 8 patients with cardiac myxoma (5 men and 3 women ranging from 21 to 54 years of age). In 6 patients, the tumour was localized in the left atrium, in 2 in the right atrium. The results of clinical, laboratory and instrumental examinations are analyzed, with special attention to ultrasound sectoral scanning, which proved to be particularly suitable for diagnostic purpose. Seven patients were successfully operated, one patient died postoperatively from thromboembolic complications.

ABSTRACT

The main classes of serum lipids (fatty acids, phospholipids, triglycerides, cholesterol) were studied and compared in 36 patients aged 20 to 41 years with the renal hypertensive syndrome of different etiology, in 25 patients aged 30 to 51 years with essential hypertension, and in 20 practically healthy subjects aged 20 to 42 years. The mechanism of changes in the content of serum lipids in different diseases associated with the hypertensive renal syndrome and in patients with essential hypertension allows an assumption that these changes are linked to a large degree with arterial hypertension.

ABSTRACT

The possibility of differential diagnosis of ischemic heart disease and cardialgia at a polyclinic is analyzed. A total of 1110 patients with a preliminary diagnosis of ischemic heart disease were examined. In 214 of them the data gathered during many years of observations have cast doubt on the validity of this diagnosis. The patients of this group were made to undergo tests with potassium chloride and obsidan. Subject to appraisal were the ECG reaction and an analysis of angular variations of the vectors in the terminal portion of the ventricular complex. The described tests were shown to help determine the significance of "functional" or "organic" changes of the myocardium in the genesis of repolarizational ECG perturbances.
