ABSTRACT

Prospective and comparative study performed during 1997-1998. 1) PURPOSE: To estimate the blood lost trans-surgery. 2) To evaluate, with and without ferrotherapy, the hematic recovery degree, through the puerperium. Fifty women were involved, with a full, single and normal pregnancy to whom, in order to perform elective cesarean sections, underwent blocking epidural. We practiced a sequential determination of hemoglobin in all of them, through their staying hospitalized and during their puerperal control. The puerperas that left the hospital with hemoglobin under 11 g/dl, received oral ferroteraphy. The red formula outcomes were evaluated using percentage and descriptive statistics. The hemoglobin average displayed in g/dl were: a) Preoperative: 11.78, b) Postoperative: 10.39, c) At left hospital: 10.34, d) At 10 postoperative day: 11.72 and e) At 40 postoperative day: 12.86. The difference between preoperative and postoperative determinations, allow us to esteem, the trans-surgical blood average lost and his recuperation degree through the puerperium.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this analysis was to prospectively evaluate two biocollectors designed for ecto and endocervix Accelon and spatula, for with two gynecologists-obstetricians taken double cervical sample, simultaneous, in 100 patients going to Outpatient Department. The pathologist did not know which slides were taken with which biocollector, Collectors as well as biocollectors were evaluated by formula Kappa and Contingency tables. Variable nominal of study was quality sample following Bethesda's criteria. Cytological findings observed in slides taken with accellon and spatula respectively were squamous cells 100% a 96%. although proportionally spatula captures greater cellularity of squamous epithelium. From metaplasic cells 17 and 8%. From cylindric epithelium cells, 81 and 65%; and here accellon aptures proportionally greater amount of cylindric cels, 10 or more Leukocytes in presence of cylindric cells at 1X1000 in immersion; 4 y 0% hematies, 18 and 14% without impeding cytological interpretation. And microorganisms. 3 and 10%. As to conclusions: There was concordance for the two collectors; and it was not so for biocollectors, which detect neoplastic epithelial lesions, being a better collector of endocervical component, the Accellon an it favors objective criteria for the cytologic diagnostic of endocervicitis. As to spatula it captures more squamous component and it favors cytologic diagnosis of microorganism that affect this area. Both biocollectors are needed to compensate limitations, and so, improve the specimens that permit to lower false negatives.

ABSTRACT

A clinical lacteal, neonatal, following up, was done in 25 puerperal women, post-cesarean section, who had selected breast feeding for their child since their prenatal control. It was concluded that adequate assessorship about lactation during prenatal consultation, positively modifies maternal attitudes towards natural feeding; and that it is also possible and convenient to introduce in the perinatology team's practice the support to lactation with special emphasis in hospital stay after cesarean section and subsequent consultation, for adequate surveillance of post-operative evolution, and control of the healthy child. In this manner, it is possible to orientate and encourage recent puerperae and to verify newborn's optimal growth when fed with this natural method.

ABSTRACT

PIP: This study presents the clinical evalaution of 52 pregnancies in IUD users. 76.9% were between 17 and 30 years of age, and 61.5% had 2 or less deliveries. 48 of the 52 women wore a Lippes Loop device; the majority of pregnancies had occurred within the 1st 12 months after IUD insertion. In 18 cases the device strings were visible; in 6 of these cases the device was removed by pulling the string; 2 women aborted and 4 delivered at term. There were, in total, 21 spontaneous abortions, or 45.7% of cases, 7 premature deliveries, or 15.2% of cases, and 18 deliveries at term of 39.1% of cases. There were 2 ectopic pregnancies. After delivery only 7 women, or 13.5%, requested insertion of another IUD; 34.6% preferred hormonal contraception, 26.9% chose tubal sterilization, and 25% chose local contraception.^ieng

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

In 138 patients with uterine dysfunctional bleeding a hormonal treatment with chlormadinone acetate, was given. The dosage varied according to four therapeutic stages: hemostatic, maintenance, consolidation and observation. Patients were placed in three groups: Group I, adolescents, Group II, reproductive life, Group III, premenopausal. In 51.9% of the patients there was endometrial hyperplasia, proliferative in 26.6% and secretory in 14.1%. Good results were obtained in all four therapeutic stages.
