ABSTRACT
Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar por meio de observação em atividades livres o brincar de crianças surdas em um instituto especializado. Participaram 18 crianças surdas na faixa etária compreendida de 2 a 5 anos de ambos os sexos, estudantes de um instituto para surdos no interior de Minas Gerais. Foram efetuadas cinco observações e uma filmagem, pelas pesquisadoras que analisaram os resultados de como brincam as crianças surdas e puderam-se extrair dados para as atividades profissionais do fonoaudiólogo. Tanto as observações quanto a filmagem foram realizadas na própria escola, no horário do recreio, e permitiram captar uma variedade de situações ou fenômenos obtidos na 'própria realidade'. Os resultados deste estudo trouxeram contribuições do brincar no espaço onde exista a palavra, levando o fonoaudiólogo a se preocupar não apenas com os brinquedos e as ações, mas com o que a criança 'fala' (simbologia) no brincar(AU)
This study aims at analyzing the playing moments of deaf children through the observation in free activities in a specialized institute. Eighteen deaf students from an institute for deaf children in the inner part of Minas Gerais (Brazil) were studied. Their ages ranged from 2 to 5 years old, male and female, all of them students of an institute for deaf children. Five observations and a video recording were analyzed, and the results about how the deaf children play made possible to obtain data for the professional activities of the phonoaudiologist. The observation and the recording provided a variety of situations or phenomena in the 'real context'. The results of this study brought contributions from the playing activities in a space where the word is present, supporting the phonoaudiologist worrying about the toys, actions, and specially to what the child 'says' (symbolism) while playing(AU)
