ABSTRACT

Histologic structure of Mueller's adenosarcoma has been studied in 5 patients subjected to uterine and its appendages extirpation. Microspectrophotometric assessment of the course of nuclear DNA accumulation, measurement of X-chromatin in two morphologic components of the tumor (epithelial and stromal) confirmed malignant morphological nature of the latter and benign one of the former. Basing on their experience with the 5 patients three of which died in the course of 5 years of relevant metastases, the authors believe the prognosis for uterine adenosarcoma to be poor.

ABSTRACT

A case of a mammary adenoid cystic carcinoma in a female of 45, is described. The tumour was histologically identical to the salivary gland tumours of the same name.

ABSTRACT

A peculiar mammary gland tumour is described. Histological structures typical for apudomas of various level of differentiation were combined in the tumour. Apart from highly differentiated carcinoid-like areas, there were zones of a small-cell carcinoma corresponding to a poorly differentiated variant of apudoma. Deposits of amyloid were found in the tumor stroma, this being non-typical for mammary carcinoma. Amyloid was stained by Congo red and birefringent in a polarizing microscope. When differential diagnostics of mammary gland tumours is made, stromal amyloidosis in parallel to typical histological picture and specific histochemical reactions may play a role of an additional diagnostic symptom.

ABSTRACT

The observation is presented of a malignant multicomponential liver tumour in a man of 54, in which the structures of mixed hepatoblastoma, cholangio- and hepatocellular carcinoma, well and poorly differentiated apudoma were combined.

ABSTRACT

Malignization of chronic peptic ulcers occurs in 9.7% of cases. Carcinomas of various histological structures develop in the edges of chronic ulcers: dark-cell adenocarcinomas, low-differentiated, colloid cancers, and combinations thereof. Dark-cell adenocarcinomas are most prevalent. In the early stages of development all carcinomas are detected in the upper parts of the mucosa. The basic processes developing in the surrounding mucosa are all of the same type (proliferation of dark cells of the pit-cervical parts of the glands, intestinal metaplasia, atrophic processes). The current opinion held in the literature that various histological variants of gastric carcinoma are determined by different cell sources seems to be erroneous. All or at least the majority of gastric carcinoma due to chronic ulcer develop from the cells of the fossa-cervical parts.

ABSTRACT

Causes of subcutaneous injuries of the Achilles tendon (in 162 patients), of the long head of musculus biceps brachii (in 33 patients), distal tendon of musculus biceps brachii (in 4 patients) and tendon of musculus quadriceps femoris (in 3 patients) were analyzed. Macro- and microscopic structures of the lacerated ends were also studied. The authors make a conclusion that tenorupture is always proceeded by microtrauma.

ABSTRACT

The histological structure and histogenesis of three renal angiomyolipomas have been studied. Of special interest are peculiar small cells showing all kinds of transition to mature components of angiomyolipoma: fat tissue, smooth muscles, vessels. These cells are referred to as cambial tumor elements, which presumably arise from mature renal tissues of the mesodermal nature through their dedifferentiation. The specific feature of angiolipomas as true tumors is varied differentiation of the tumor cambium that conditions great variety of their histological structure.

ABSTRACT

Follicular lymphoma is regarded as reticulosarcoma in situ. Tumor nodules are represented by neoplastic foci of the tumor tissue. They can show the structure of lymphoblastic, reticulocellular and polymorphocellular reticulosarcoma. The Maximov cambial lymphocyte is assumed to be the most reliable cell source. The Willis teaching on tumor field holds good of the morphogenesis of follicular lymphomas. The problem of the differential diagnosis between follicular lymphomas and follicular reactive hyperplasia is discussed.
