ABSTRACT

Introduction In orthodontics, having a beautiful smile is very important. It is frequently the main driving force behind people's efforts to enhance their oral health and professional opportunities. Orthodontic and dental treatment planning might benefit greatly when evaluating the aesthetic components of a patient's smile in individuals with varying skeletal growth patterns. In order to help orthodontists achieve the best possible functional and aesthetic results for their patients, the eight elements of a balanced smile are essential to orthodontic therapy. This study aims to evaluate, in comparison to Skeletal Class I Average instances, eight balanced smile components in patients with Skeletal Class II Vertical and Horizontal growth patterns. Methodology A total of 45 patients aged 14-30 were selected from the Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Out-Patient Department (OPD). They were divided into three groups: Skeletal Class I Average, Skeletal Class II Vertical, and Skeletal Class II Horizontal cases based on their malocclusion type. Patients were made to smile in response to a joke or social conversation and their photos were analyzed using Photopea software (Photopea Inc., Prague, Czech Republic) to determine the eight components of a balanced smile. Result Three skeletal classes' worth of smile components were examined in this study. Lip line measurements varied greatly; the highest mean measurement was found in the Skeletal Class II Vertical group (p-value < 0.01). There were no noteworthy correlations found between smile arc and upper lip curvature. Measurements of lateral negative space did not show any significant group differences. On the other hand, a significant correlation was seen in smile symmetry, where asymmetrical smiles were more prevalent in Skeletal Classes I and II Vertical groups (p-value is 0.00072). While arch symmetry suggested a potential relationship between the groups, dental midline alignment revealed possible associations. Conclusion Assessing the aesthetic components of smiles in patients with varying skeletal growth patterns, i.e., contrasting Class II Vertical and Horizontal growth patterns with Class I Average cases, provides valuable information about the connection between smile aesthetics and facial skeletal structure. The results suggest that when compared to Class I typical instances, Skeletal Class II Vertical and Horizontal growth patterns may show clear variations in certain aspects of an attractive smile. Comprehending these variations is essential for devising treatment strategies for patients, and additional investigation is needed. In order to obtain optimal aesthetic outcomes, treatment strategies should strive to optimize smile aesthetics while addressing personalized treatment plans that take into account the patient's unique facial features, smiling preferences, and functional requirements.

ABSTRACT

Solitary median maxillary central incisor (SMMCI) syndrome is complex and usually develops 35-38 days postconception during the intrauterine period. A noteworthy discovery is that just one central incisor in the maxillary alveolus, found exactly on the centerline, is present in both deciduous and permanent dentitions with other congenital anomalies. Around one in every 50,000 live babies exhibits this abnormality. This report describes the case of a 13-year-old female patient with SMMCI syndrome with a complaint about an unsightly appearance due to a single large upper front tooth. We underline the importance of increasing clinician awareness of SMMCI syndrome and the need for a multidisciplinary approach to its care.

In recent years, dental technology has experienced remarkable advancements, mirroring the evolution of communication and information technologies. The advent of information technology has paved the way for a new frontier in healthcare known as teledentistry. This innovative approach has revolutionized the delivery of dental care across geographical distances, enhancing accessibility and communication in the realm of oral health. This article aims to highlight the various methodologies of teledentistry, discuss its benefits for both patients and dentists, and emphasize its potential to overcome geographical barriers, enhance access to dental care, and promote oral health equity, especially among children. There are three primary teledentistry methods: real-time consultation, the store-and-forward method, and the remote monitoring method. Real-time consultation facilitates immediate interaction between dentists and patients through video conferencing, enabling the sharing of data and medical history. The store-and-forward method involves the collection and transmission of essential diagnostic materials, enhancing diagnostic accuracy. Remote monitoring allows continuous patient evaluation from a distance, improving healthcare delivery and patient safety. Teledentistry's impact on pediatric and preventive dentistry is substantial. It offers remote counseling, diagnosis, and monitoring for children, especially in areas with limited access to dental care. Additionally, mobile gaming apps play a role in behavioral management and reducing dental anxiety among children. Both patients and dentists benefit from teledentistry. Patients gain access to timely consultations, reducing the need for immediate in-person visits. Dentists can efficiently evaluate and monitor patients, collaborate with specialists, and provide expert advice, leading to improved healthcare delivery. Teledentistry is transforming dental care by overcoming geographical barriers, improving access, and enhancing communication. While facing challenges, its potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery and promote oral health equity is undeniable. With ongoing advancements and strategic measures, teledentistry is poised for a promising future in healthcare.

This case study offers a rare and difficult condition involving the impaction of teeth 11, 12, and 13, providing a severe dental challenge. A thorough examination was performed on the patient, which included clinical evaluations and radiographic examinations. Because the impacted teeth were causing discomfort and functional impairment, a multidisciplinary approach was required, which included surgical exposure followed by traction forces to level and align the impacted teeth. The abstract emphasizes the case's complexity, digging into the diagnosis process and the establishment of a personalized treatment strategy. The complexities of handling many impacted teeth are explored in length, including surgical intervention, orthodontic considerations, and postoperative care.

Introduction: Getting acceptable cosmetic results in the soft tissues of the face serves as the foundation for orthodontic treatment planning. Also, in order to achieve healthy static and dynamic occlusal interactions, the teeth must be positioned within the basal bone at the correct position, angle, and inclination. To avoid periodontal issues, provide stability, and achieve a functional occlusion, it is essential to ascertain the individual's dental arch form before starting of treatment and thus to utilise the mechanics that follow throughout the treatment. Objectives: To evaluate and compare variation in Curve of Spee and Curve of Wilson in Class II Div.-1, Class II-Div-2 and Class-III as against Class I malocclusion in central India population. Methodology: Irreversible hydrocolloid impression will be taken with perforated metal stock trays and stone cast will be poured. This will be scanned using CAD CAM machine and curve of Spee and Wilson will be measured using reverse engineering. Expected Result: It will assist us in treatment planning for preventing periodontal issues, assuring stability, and achieving functional occlusion by evaluating and comparing the Spee and Wilson curves in Class II Divison-1, Class II Divison-2, and Class-III malocclusion with Class-I malocclusion. Conclusion: Every single patient receiving orthodontic treatment has the COS, which is crucial to achieving a stable occlusion. Almost every patient who receives orthodontic treatment eventually experiences the Spee Curve. Since there aren't many studies examining the relationship between the Curves of Spee and Wilson, their impact on dentoskeletal morphology, and their role in occlusal stability.

ABSTRACT

Vaccination is the best strategy for the control and prevention of contagious diseases caused by Influenza A viruses. Extraordinary genetic variability and continual evolvability are responsible for the virus having survival and adaptation to host cell immune response, thus rendering the current influenza vaccines with suboptimal effectiveness.Therefore, in the present study, using a novel immunoinformatics approach, we have designed a universal influenza subunit vaccine based on the highly conserved epitopic sequences of rapidly evolving (HA), a moderately evolving (NP) and slow evolving (M1) proteins of the virus. The vaccine design includes 2 peptide adjuvants, 26 CTL epitopes, 9 HTL epitopes, and 7 linear BCL epitopes to induce innate, cellular, and humoral immune responses against Influenza A viruses. We also analyzed the physicochemical properties of the designed construct to validate its thermodynamic stability, hydrophilicity, PI, antigenicity, and allergenicity. Furthermore, we predicted a highly stable tertiary model of the designed subunit vaccine, wherein additional disulfide bonds were incorporated to enhance its stability. The molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations of the refined vaccine model with TLR3, TLR7, TLR8, MHC-I and MHC-II showed stable vaccine and receptors complexes, thus confirming the immunogenicity of the designed vaccine. Collectively, these findings suggest that our multi-epitope vaccine construct may confer protection against various strains of influenza A virus subtypes, which could prevent the need for annual reformulation of vaccine and alleviate disease burden.
