ABSTRACT

A group of 20 patients with moderate bronchial asthma aged 18 through 65, previously treated with Becotide inhaler for 4 weeks was given Serevent in regular dosage for 4 weeks. Serevent efficiency was assessed clinically and functionally (MEVS, IPB). A progressive improvement of all clinical and functional parameters was obtained following the treatment. The evolution was unsatisfactory with 3 cases which entered the group with advanced asthma condition. No adverse reaction of tachyphylaxis manifestations were recorded. Drug adequacy was perfect. The final results place Serevent among elective bronchodilators in long-time ambulatory treatment.

ABSTRACT

The paper reports on 25 possible failure factors of antituberculosis chemotherapy in 262 cases recorded in 1982 and followed for 3 years. 58 of them were failures, relapses or bacteriological relapses under treatment. The failure factors analysed were subjected to a mathematical modelling method that yielded a number of codified predicting parameters. This prognostic calculation may be an efficient method for optimizing chemotherapy, reducing the failure rate.

ABSTRACT

This work proposes to analyse the quality of the failure risks in the case of a short duration treatment applied in operational conditions on the territory of Constanta County as a premise for the application of a method of mathematical analysis on computer in view of predicting the failure cases. There were studied 262 eligible cases out of 290, which represent the total of the patients newly registered with pulmonary tuberculosis in 1982, on the territory of Constanta County and who were kept an eye upon for 3 years after finishing the treatment. There resulted 58 (22.1%) recurrencies, failures or corrected in course intratherapeutic positive reactions, on which were analysed 25 possible failure factors. The most representative have proved to be the organizational factors among which irregular treatment (67.2%) of the failure cases, a defective mobilizing to treatment, technical factors: late negativation of sputum (over 4-5 months from starting the treatment), and among the factors depending on the patients--noncooperation occurred in 60.33% of the failure cases. If the final frequency of failures on the territory of Constanta County does not exceed the average figures recorded here and abroad, the global frequency within the studied time period is not satisfactory and imposes an assessing of the failure factors and measures of improvement.

ABSTRACT

The present work demonstrates the high overall efficiency of the present regimes in the treatment of tuberculosis (97%), provided the rules and indications are strictly complied with. The duration of the medical sick leave influences the regularity with which the treatment is applied. Many of the younger patients frequently accept to resume work at an earlier date. Earlier work resumption under present conditions should be had in view since it obviates the major drawbacks in the treatment of tuberculosis--socio-occupational disadaptation of the patients.

ABSTRACT

An assessment is carried out of the results obtained in the Constantza County after over 2 years of application of the "3 + 6" regimens (INH + RMP and INH + SM + EMB) in a group of 119 patients with initially bacteriologically confirmed pulmonary tuberculosis. The standard regimens applied were not replaced with other regimens. The dynamics of negativation in cultures confirmed that over 50% of the patients had become negative after the first month of treatment. For practical purposes negativation was completed before 3 months in all the cases. The only two failures were recorded in the first three months after the treatment was ended. No re-positivation was noted in the second year of the follow-up. A stable resolution was achieved in 98% of the patients.

ABSTRACT

The study of aspects of integration of chemotherapy during the initial stages of the anti-tuberculous treatment, carried out in 15 rural medical circumscriptions in the Constantza and mpedgidia anti-tuberculous dispensaries, has demonstrated the applicability of standardized chemotherapy schemes at the level of general practice network. The personnel working in the frame of this network showed considerable interest and preoccupation with the optimal achievement of the strictly supervised treatment. The results of bacteriological controls (direct BK examination and cultures), indicated that in 97,4% of the cases these results are maintained negative in patients that could be evaluated. An assessment of this action revealed that the indices showing the incorporation of patients in the strictly supervised treatment as well as the regularity of the administration have been very good.

ABSTRACT

Three detections, carried out over a period of two years gave the following results: a high rate was obtained in the first one while the following two gave lower rates, in parallel with a decrease of the overall incidence through pulmonary tuberculosis from 326.70/0000 in 1968 to 1440/0000 in 1973. The cases were recently detected, during the last two investigations, which allowed for a wider application of the ambulatory treatment, a fact that compensated from the financial view point the cost of radiophotographic investigations. The authors suggest the maintenance of integral detection, with the same periodicity in the rural environment.
