ABSTRACT

The analysis of Ukrainian isolate of beet necrotic yellow vein virus has been performed. The partial nucleotide sequence of cDNA corresponding to RNA-2 of BNYVV isolates were analyzed and Ukrainian isolate AG9 of BNYVV was assigned to type A strains based on DNA sequences. The nucleotide sequence of gene encoding a coat protein of Ukrainian isolate of BNYVV was compared with appropriate nucleotide sequences existing in the GeneBank and the phylogenetic analysis of investigated virus was done. It was shown that Ukrainian isolate AG9 of BNYVV has 100 % homology to isolate originating from Sweden.

ABSTRACT

Precise chromosome segregation is vital for speciation and hybrid formation. The aim of the work was to study the chromosomes behaviour and inheritance of maternal and paternal genomes in Arabidopsis regenerants de-rived from in vitro cultured cells on the medium with PFFA. The Arabidopsis thaliana model hybrid between Columbia and Landsberg erecta ecotypes was developed, which chromosomes were easy to distinguish using the 12 SSLP selected markers. Also, the influence of PFFA on the callus formation and regeneration of plants was analysed. 20 regenerated plants cultured with PFFA were derived, three of which were shown to loss the heterozygosity in six loci by DNA markers analysis. Different models are certainly required to understand how and when the mechanisms leading to proper chromosome segregation are established in species and hybrids.

ABSTRACT

Analysis of molecular-genetic polymorphism of barley varieties was performed using AFLP-method. A system for identification and differentiation of barley varieties based on AFLP-markers was developed. Results of testing for 19 varieties indicate a high differential ability of the developed system. Identification of varieties can be conducted using one of two proposed discriminatory sets of AFLP-markers. Based on the calculated genetic distances a dendrogram of phylogenetic relations between the varieties was constructed. The dendrogram revealed a separated origin of varieties of malting and feed directions.

ABSTRACT

A new mutation for maize tassel structure was founded. This mutation is controlled by a recessive gene. It was named "tassel knit"(tk). The new gene can be used for corn hybridization.
