ABSTRACT

Psychoemotional status was studied in 125 female workers 21 to 50 years old having been exposed to epoxide resins and their compounds for 5 to 25 years. We undertook to carry out multifactor questionnaire survey together with pathopsychological testing, and determining levels of personal constitutional and reactive anxiety. Occupation-related neurotic disorders (neurasthenic-, obsessive and phobic-, and, to a lesser extent, hysterical type manifestations) were found out to develop during the stage of prenosologic forms against the background of high level of both constitutional and reactive anxiety. It is psychoconstitutional traits of workers being predisposing factors for the disorders in question that affect the epoxide-related origination and development of psychoemotional derangement. The following traits can be regarded as predisposing factors for derangement: excitability, bias towards anxiety, deestiming, demonstrable behaviour.

ABSTRACT

A comprehensive evaluation of particular features of labour conditions of those workers engaged in assembling--riveting in Kiev plants of aircraft industry was done as was that of early morbidity patterns among them. A whole complex of hygienic investigations was carried out, involving those designed to study labour conditions, pathopsychological testing of 103 assemblers--fitters, analysis of quality of changes in the vegetative nervous system, level of constitutional and reactive anxiety, routine clinical and instrumental examination. There has been disclosed high level of vegetative dysfunctions during the early stage unspecific disorders presenting as psychovegetative syndrome, vegetative-vascular-trophic syndrome, cerebral angiodystonic syndrome. It is suggested that the above syndromes be regarded as early unspecific signs of development of vibronoise pathology during the early stages of its development. It is recommended that quality of the vegetative nervous system should be considered in advising the workers on the choice of vocations in which health hazards from exposure to vibration and noise exist.

ABSTRACT

It was found that being a hygienic procedure sauna essentially improves well-being of the workers, activates the cardiovascular system and mechanism of general adaptation of the body. Sauna increased excretion with sweat fluid of toxic substances (lead, thiuram, captax, sulphenamide C) that penetrated the body during work. Sauna is recommended as an effective procedure in conditions where chemical and physical factors are the leading professional noxae.

ABSTRACT

Treatment of two groups of patients with hypertensive disease are analyzed. Patients of group I received routine hypotensive treatment in combination with psychotherapy while patients of group II received only drug treatment. Evaluation of the central and cerebral hemodynamics indicates that rational use of psychotherapy is rather effective in patients with the hypo- and eukinetic types of circulation.

ABSTRACT

Clinical methods and questionnaires were used to evaluate the health state of 87 female spinners. The authors established a correlation between the frequency of neurotic disorders, vegetative-vascular disorders and osteochondrosis and length of work depending on the type of personality reactions. The frequency of disease was higher in those with psychasthenia, anxiety and introverted personality features.

ABSTRACT

Tetrapolar rheovasography was used to medically examine 54 riveters, of equal age and duration of work, who were exposed to the complex action of low-intensity vibration and noise. The central, cerebral and peripheral hemodynamic indices were assessed depending on the blood circulation type with dew account of the current views on the hemodynamic norms. Identified were differences in the absolute figures of most indices of central and cerebral hemodynamics depending on the blood circulation type. The 'levelling' of the peripheral blood circulation indices was performed by initial vibration disease pathologic developments in vascular tension. It can be concluded that the hypokinetic type of blood circulation is a risk factor which should be taken into account in selecting the occupational criteria for riveters.

ABSTRACT

The authors studied the efficiency of psychoemotional relaxation in the treatment of 84 riveters of aviation enterprises subjected in the course of work to vibration and noise. Results indicate that the method of psychoemotional relaxation may be recommended in the complex of prophylaxis and treatment in workers of the above professions.

ABSTRACT

The contributors display their experience in the clinical application of tents for oxygen-drug therapy, aerosol prophylaxis and treatment purposes, and advocate the evident advantages of the method: a combined therapeutic action of oxygen and aerosols, the healing properties of the sprayer-produced negative ions, portability and easiness in handling the tent, possibility of its ready-to-use prophylactic and therapeutic purposes. Clinical trials were made in 2 groups of patients with respiratory and cardio-vascular disorders, which proved both therapeutic and technical effectiveness of the method to be recommended for wide use in medical posts of enterprises.
