ABSTRACT

In modern diabetology, the most important condition for a personalized approach to patient management is to determine the type of diabetes mellitus. Particular attention is drawn to a large, but at the same time insufficiently studied group of patients with diabetes mellitus due to diseases of the pancreas or as a result of surgical interventions on the pancreas, in particular, patients who, for a number of vital indications, undergo total pancreatectomy and the mechanism of development of impaired glucose homeostasis have not been studied in these patients. To date, there are no specific algorithms for managing this category of patients. This clinical example emphasizes that the management of glycemia in patients with diabetes mellitus as a result of total pancreatectomy is an extremely difficult task that requires a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of this category of patients, the participation of an endocrinologist at all stages of patient treatment.

ABSTRACT

A simple, rapid and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography method with electrochemical detection was developed for the determination of glucosamine in human plasma. Plasma samples were analyzed after a simple two-step procedure of protein precipitation with subsequent dilution. The chromatographic separation was performed on a Carbopack column (3 mm x 150 mm) with a mobile phase consisting of water and 200 mM sodium hydroxide. Detection was performed electrochemically in a pulsed voltammetry mode. The limit of detection was 2.0 ng/ml, inter- and intra-day precision were less than 10%. The method was successfully applied to the investigation of the pharmacokinetics of glucosamine in healthy man volunteers.

ABSTRACT

Using X-ray powder diffractions, Mössbauer spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements, the effect of complex dopants (Co2+ + Ti4+) and (Bi3+ + Ti4+) on the fine structure and magnetic properties of M-type barium hexaferrite prepared by hydroxide and carbonate precipitations has been studied. The distribution of cations over five nonequivalent positions of barium hexaferrite with magnetoplumbite structure is discussed. It has been shown that doped barium hexaferrite can be used for high-coercitivity data storage media.

ABSTRACT

Complex sauna therapy for children with atopic dermatitis gives positive clinical results and improves the condition of their autonomic nervous system. Marked clinical response but unsatisfied autonomic nervous system regulation necessitate long-term sauna treatment to cure this disease.
