ABSTRACT
From ARGYLIA RADIATA a non-glycosidic iridoid, the (4a S, 7 S, 7a S)-7-hydroxy-7-methyl-1,4a,5,6,7,7a-heptahydrocyclopenta[ C]pyran-3(4 H)-one, and a bisiridoid, derived from the junction of catalpol and 7-deoxyloganic acid, were isolated.
ABSTRACT
2-Hydroxyacetyl-7-acetylxanthone (V), a new xanthone derivative, was synthesized in four steps starting from xanthene, by two synthetic approaches. The new compound displayed antianaphylactic activity in the PCA test and in the anaphylaxis shock test in rats. It also displayed analgesic activity in the writhing test in mice, and antiinflammatory activity in the carrageenin edema test in rats. The activity of the new compound has been tentatively interpreted on the basis of its chemical and structural analogy with known drugs.

Two new bisiridoid glucosides, radiatoside B and C, together with the known compounds mussaenosidic acid and geniposidic acid, were isolated from the aerial parts of ARGYLIA RADIATA. The structures of the new compounds were established by spectroscopic methods.
ABSTRACT
A new iridoid glucoside, 2, named kickxioside, was isolated from KICKXIA SPURIA. On the basis of spectral data, the structure of antirrhinoside esterified at position 6 by a menthiafolic acid was assigned to 2. The structure was also confirmed by alkaline hydrolysis of 2, which afforded antirrhinoside and menthiafolic acid.
ABSTRACT
The leaves of Tecoma chrysantha Jacq. a tree of the tropics, contain together with 6-epiaucubin ( 1), a less polar iridoid 2. Chemical and spectroscopical data demonstrated that 2 contains a residue of 1 esterified by 8-hydroxy-2,6-dimethyl-2,6-octadienoic acid ( 3), a rare monoterpenic product.
ABSTRACT
Two new iridoid glucosides, isolated from Linaria cymbalaria (Scrophulariaceae), are 8-epiloganic acid ( 1) and 7-beta-hydroxy-8-epiiridodial glucoside ( 2). Partial synthesis of 2 from 8-epiloganin ( 3) has been performed.
ABSTRACT
Fourteen iridoid glycosides have been isolated from Odontites verna ssp. serotina (Scrophulariaceae). In this paper the isolation of 6-O-beta-glucopyranosylaucubin is described; its structure and configuration has been demonstrated mainly by the aid of the (1)H- and (13)-C-NMR spectroscopy. The existence of a gamma glycosylation shift is showed.
ABSTRACT
From the aerial part of Verbascum sinuatum L. a new iridoid diglycoside III has been isolated and its structure elucidated as 6-0-alphaL-rhamnopyranosylaucubin.
