Discussões sobre gênero e vulnerabilidade a partir da análise de matérias sobre sexualidade das revistas Capricho e Playboy / Discussions about gender and vulnerability from the analysis of the articles about sexuality in the magazines Capricho and Playboy

O conceito de vulnerabilidade permite a compreensão da exposição à infecção ao vírus HIV sem reduzi-la ao foco nos comportamentos individuais de não adoção das práticas preventivas, mas considerando fatores culturais que participam do contexto em que os comportamentos ocorrem. Dentre estes fatores, é importante considerar as questões de gênero. Este estudo qualitativo-descritivo teve como objetivo identificar a presença de padrões normativos de sexualidade e gênero em matérias e seções sobre sexo e sexualidade de 18 edições da Revista Capricho e 10 edições da Revista Playboy publicadas em 2010, por meio da análise de conteúdo, discutindo a relação entre os padrões identificados e a forma como as informações sobre prevenção são transmitidas pelo discurso das revistas. Discutiu-se como a escassez de informações a forma como esses padrões são cristalizados podem contribuir para reforçar a vulnerabilidade. (AU)

The concept of vulnerability permits the comprehension of the exposition to the infection of the HIV virus without reducing it to the focus in the individual behaviors of non-adoption of the preventive practices, but considering the cultural factors that participate of the context in which these behaviors occur. Among these factors, it is important to consider the gender issues. This qualitative-descriptive study had asan aim to identify the presence of normative patterns of sexuality and gender in articles and sections about sexand sexuality in 18 editions of the Capricho magazine and 10 edition of the Playboy magazine published in 2010, through the content analysis, discussing the relation between the patterns identified and the way how the information about prevention are transmitted by the magazines’ discourses. It was discussed how the lack of information and the way how these patterns are crystallized can contribute to reinforce the vulnerability. (AU)

Medo, tensão e vergonha: representações negativas de sexualidade na seção “Sexo” da revista Capricho / Fear, tension and shame: negative representations of sexuality in the section about sex of the Capricho magazine

As revistas destinadas ao público adolescente são muitas vezes procuradas como fonte de informações sobre sexualidade, corpo, relacionamentos e adolescência. A Revista Capricho é uma revista feminina quinzenal direcionada para adolescentes. Neste estudo qualitativo-descritivo foi realizada a análise de conteúdo da Seção “Sexo” de 18 edições publicadas em 2010 com o objetivo de identificar e discutir as representações predominantes sobre sexualidade. Foi identificada a predominância de representaçõesnegativas, como relações entre sexualidade e medo, tensão, vergonha e imperativos de beleza. Destaca-se como a sexualidade feminina não é abordada através de aspectos prazerosos, positivos e saudáveis, e sim através de representações negativas que, ao invés de discutidas e problematizadas, são naturalizadas, colocadas como normais e esperadas pelo discurso da revista. The magazines destined to the adolescent public are many times searched as a resource of information about sexuality, body, relationships and adolescence. The Capricho magazine is a biweekly feminine magazine directed to teenagers. In this qualitative-descriptive study it was made the content analysis of the section about sex of 18 editions published in 2010 with the aim of identifying and discussing the predominant representations of sexuality. It was identified the predominance of negative representations, like relations between sexuality and fear, tension, shame and beauty imperatives. It can be detached that the feminine sexuality is not approached through its pleasant, positive and health aspects, but through negative representations that, instead of being discussed, are naturalized, put as normal and expected by the magazine’s discourse. Padrões normativos de gênero em livros infanto-juvenis sobre educação sexual / Normative standards of gender in children’s books on sexual education

O conceito de gênero é relacional, problematiza a superação do determinismo biológico e tem raízes históricas e culturais indo além das diferenças anatômicas entre homens e mulheres. Esta pesquisa documental investigou padrões de sexualidade e gênero em livros de educação sexual infanto-juvenis. Foram analisados 10 livros, selecionados em sites de livrarias. Tanto o conteúdo dos livros como suas ilustrações mostram: 1) visão estereotipada e naturalizada da feminilidade e masculinidade, 2) padrões de famílias tradicionais e patriarcais, 3) noção romantizada de casamento e reprodução, 4) estereótipos de beleza e do corpo “normal”. Conclui-se que os livros de educação sexual infanto-juvenis reproduzem padrões normativos podendo estimular uma educação sexista não devendo ser utilizados em trabalhos de educação sexual sem reflexão crítica. The concept of gender is relational and refers to the the overcoming of the biological determinism, it has historical and cultural roots going beyond the anatomical differences between men and women. This documental research investigated patterns of sexuality and gender in sexual education books for children and teenagers. Ten books were analyzed, selected in bookstores websites. The content of the books and their illustrations show: 1) stereotypical and naturalized view of femininity and masculinity, 2) patterns of traditional and patriarchal families, 3) romanticized concept of marriage and reproduction, 4) stereotypes of beauty and "normal" body. It is concluded that sexual education books for children and teenagers reproduce normative standards that can stimulate a sexist education and should not be used in works of sexual education without critical reflection. Análise sobre padrões de relacionamentos amorosos no livro "Sex and The City" / Analysis of love relationship patterns on the book "Sex and The City"

As pesquisas sobre sexualidade, especialmente a partir da crítica foucaultiana, têm denunciado que a repressão sexual se faz também pelos padrões que sugerem um modelo fixo de felicidade a ser seguido e que desmerecem o desenvolvimento autônomo do sujeito. Este estudo qualitativo-descritivo teve por objetivo realizar uma análise de conteúdo do livro Sex and the City, que narra relações sexuais e amorosas na cidade de Nova York. Essa análise evidenciou a reprodução de estereótipos sexuais vigentes, apresentados nas categorias temáticas: (1) Compreensão da mulher solteira como solitária e infeliz; (2) Compreensão da mulher solteira como independente e consumista; (3) Compreensão de que a mulher solteira é carente de um relacionamento heterossexual associado ao ideal romântico e feliz; (4) Compreensão dos relacionamentos amorosos como mercadorias: as pessoas como objetos de uso e troca. Os padrões sexuais e amorosos apresentados pelo livro demonstram a repressão reproduzida pela cultura de massas, acriticamente. A Psicologia tem sido uma importante área da ciência a denunciar o controle da sexualidade com base nesses perversos padrões ideológicos. (AU)

The researches on sexuality, especially from Foucault’s critical analysis, have been denouncing that the sexual repression also happens through the patterns that suggest a fixed happiness model to be followed, not considering the autonomous development of the subject. The aim of this descriptive-qualitative study was to make a critical analysis of the content of the book Sex and The City, which presents narratives about sexual and love relationships in New York. This analysis evidenciated the reproduction of outdated sexual concepts presented on the following thematic categories: (1) Comprehension of the single woman as lonely and unhappy; (2) Comprehension of the single woman as independent and consumerist; (3) Comprehension that the single woman needs a heterosexual relationship related to the happy romantic ideal; (4) Comprehension of the love relationships as commodities: people as objects of use and exchange. The sexual and love patterns presented by the book demonstrate the repression reproduced uncritically by the mass culture. The Psychology has been an important area of the science to denounce the control of the sexuality from these perverse and ideological patterns. (AU)
