ABSTRACT

The effect of ionole on the processes of peroxidation in the eye tissues (lens, sclera, cornea, chorioidea) and blood at crush-syndrome has been studied. For the first time in this research work the combination method of the ionole injection has been successfully tested. The ionole injection promoted a decrease in the level of lipid peroxidation products, increase in antioxidations and normalisation in the concentration of phospholipids in the eye-tissues and blood at crush-syndrome. The findings of our study based necessity of inclusion of ionole in the complex treatment of mechanical trauma with the aim of preventing the origin of posttraumatic complication in the eye region.

ABSTRACT

A method for surgical treatment of secondary cataracts in the eyes with implanted posterior-chamber intraocular lens was developed; its low traumaticity and simple technique make it not inferior to the routine laser methods of secondary cataract discission. The operations were performed in 19 patients. Vision acuity improved in all the cases, no operative or postoperative complications were recorded.

ABSTRACT

Measurements of unsaturated fatty acid diene conjugates in the anterior chamber humor are recommended to predict postoperative inflammatory complications. If their levels are increased, antioxidants should be included in the therapeutic scheme along with antibiotics and corticosteroids.

ABSTRACT

A study of peculiarities of secondary cataract formation in implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses in experiment on 60 rabbit eyes has shown that, besides the known factors of secondary cataract formation, a great role belongs to inflammatory reaction of all segments of the uveal tract leading to appearance of a transudate in the anterior chamber of the eye as well as to development of adhesions of the iris and ciliary body processes with the lens capsule, along which stromal elements of these segments of the uveal tract actively migrate.
