ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

New applications and forms of Darier's humid permanent closed cures are analysed specially in connection with concepts of cutaneous hydratation. The multiplicity of their application however makes it necessary to find an explanation for their excellent effects which are probably related to the anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and antiinfectious actions as well as the permanent draining effect from the deeper layers to the surface of the epidermis. The hydratation affected by HPCC is very important in dry and exudative stasis dermatitis with both a complete or a partial loss of stratum corneum. Cutaneous eutrophia is restored quite rapidly and an anti-infectious effect is brought about simultaneously. Especially in cases of stasis dermatitis with excessive secretions and pus formation the permanent drainage and hydratation make possible rapid healing. The preference for sodium borate does not exclude the use of other substance both alone or in combination. On the contrary, HPCC may be employed with especific antibiotics. Topical corticosteroid and antibiotic combination is frequently used in stasis dermatitis. In cases of pyoderma, the results obtained are definitively better when antibiotics are of the treatment. Eventually systematic corticoids may be included in the therapeutic arsenal.

ABSTRACT

Se presenta un caso de tumor del glande en el que se constata histologicamente epitelioma espinocelular, junto a un papiloma venereo de tipo comun, desarollado en su vecindad. Clinicamente el papiloma parece haber precedido al epitelioma.

ABSTRACT

The authors present a follicolitis and perifolliculitis case with abscess and profound nodules, unfolded on a patient who had been subjected to an abusive local an general treatment with corticoids. That process had progressed with similar characteristics to Majocchi's tricophytic granuloma, although this case appeared over the application of that therapeutic. The allergological study could prove a depression of the cellular immunity, but at the same time it demonstrated an abnormal reaction, as an anaphylactoid one, at trychophytin and penicillin.

ABSTRACT

Two cases of early ulcerative syphilis observed in the city of La Plata, Argentina, in the last 13 years are presented. Cases n.o 1, classified as Queyrat type, was in a previously bad general condition, due both to excessive smoking and alcoholism and showed a classic blood serologic test, that was slightly reactive. Case n.o 2, Milian type, presented a previously excellent general condition. The classic blood serologic test and FTAabs. were strongly reactive. It showed only a significant depression of cell immunity, with regard to the bacterial cutaneous proofs (bacterial skin-tests) carried out "in vivo". In both cases the clinical aspect was similar, with ulcerative necrotic lesions and affectation of the general condition which coincided with the outbreak of those lesions. The response to treatment was good, with rapid improvement of the general condition while the improvement of the skin lesions was slower and occurred only within 3 weeks.

ABSTRACT

The authors report a case of forunculoid miasis by "Dermatobia hominis" ("Ura" fly). a process that being not very common in the Argentine Republic is sometimes misjudged as a furunculosis. The patient reported, a white woman, 51, travelled to a zone where this parasitose is endemid. After some time of her stay there, she noted three small nodes in her vulvar region. They grew on until reaching nearly the size of a walnut. At her first consultation with a gynecologist it was taken as a case of furuncolosis and treated with antibiotics. As the treatment didn't prove succesful, she asked for dermatological advice. It was then possible to verify the presence of three nodes. In the central hole of one of them, there could be seen a whitish body that soon disappeared inwards. This lead to the diagnosis of forunculoid miasis. An accurate and easy-to-perform treatment was carried out: a 1% solution of formaldehyde in distilled water was infused through the central hole of each node. This determined the larva's caudal extremity to appear in search of air. It was taken advantage of this situation to remove the larvae with a pair of nippers. "Dermatobia hominis" is widely spread in the warm-climated Argentine northern provinces of Chaco, Formosa and Misiones, as well as in Brazil, Paraguay and some regions of Uruguay. It is also known under the name of "Ura". It is a large fly, yellow faced, with dark-blue thorax; an almost rombic metallic-blue abdomen, orange antennae and legs, and dark-brown wings. It lives on the nutrients spared during its larval stage and both fecundation and oviposition, take place along its week-long life. The fecundated female catches different haematophagus insects on the wing, sticking sets of eggs to their abdomens. An embryo developes in each egg, being ready to emerge in a week but does this only when the bearer insect settles on a homeothermal being piercing and penetrating the skin of the new guest in about 10 minutes.
