ABSTRACT

The authors report an acroosteolysis case with sensory radicular ulcero-mutilating neuropathy. The differential diagnosis are discussed and the case is presented as an intermediate form between the congenital sensory neuropathy, type II, according to Otha classification, and the non-progressive, sporadical sensory neuropathy.

ABSTRACT

The AA. present a good contribution to the Mallet Finger therapy: it consists in the fixation of the last interphalangea articulation in yperextension by K. wire in the phalanx soft tissues, completing the treatment with splint in extension. The outcomes of the cases with more than two years are examined.

ABSTRACT

A 40-year-old woman with a history of injury to the left foot was initially treated for an ankle sprain. When the initial roentgenograms were reassessed, os peroneum fracture with diastasis was diagnosed. This may be the second case of fracture of the uncommon anomaly to be reported in the literature. A fracture of the os peroneum may be confused with ankle sprain. Only careful examination of serial roentgenograms may avoid an incorrect diagnosis and further complications.

ABSTRACT

Fifteen patients suffering from osteoporosis of different aetiology and receiving long-term carbocalcitonin treatment were studied in order to evaluate the tolerance of the drug. Only one of these patients, with intolerance of any type of calcitonin, was obliged to discontinue the treatment, tolerance being excellent in all the others. Blood-chemistry tests, performed at various intervals, revealed no significant changes. Though not part of the specific aim of the study, antalgic efficacy tests yielded excellent results.

ABSTRACT

The authors report the results of intra- and peri-articular orgotein treatment in 30 arthritic patients. The patients were examined before, during and at the end of the course of treatment and showed substantial improvement. Negative and mediocre results were more frequent in cases of gonarthrosis. This finding may be accounted for by the severity of the articular situation in these patients, though orgotein treatment is also preferred in such cases, as it avoids iatrogenic damage. The authors also make it clear that no benefit can be achieved by combining the use of local anaesthetics with the orgotein treatment.

ABSTRACT

Authors reported the results of clinical experiments on the use of Ceftriaxone in the prophylaxis of post operative orthopaedic and traumatological complications in 30 patient. The absence of post operative infection and the good tolerance confirm its usefulness for antibiotic prophylaxis in orthopaedic surgery.

ABSTRACT

After a careful description of the surgical method according to Regnauld for the bloody treatment of valgus big toe, followed by them since 1974, the Authors show their casuistry. The results are considered from the aesthetic and functional standpoint; the single patients' opinion is also reported. The Authors, as a conclusion, declare themselves satisfied pith this method, which not only gives excellent aesthetic and functional results, but also caused no relapses.

ABSTRACT

The authors, after reviewing the world bibliography, remember the seriousness, quoad vitam, of the atlanto-axial sub-luxation as a frequent complication of rheumatoid arthritis. They, for such reason, emphasize the importance of a precocious diagnosis, with the systematic research, in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, of the clinical and radiographic signs of such a dreadful complication.

ABSTRACT

The authors describe their therapeutical attitude as regards the thalamic fractures of heel, and distinguish two basic methods of surgical approach: reducing of thalamus and synthesis with only screws in the simple fractures; reducing of thalamus and restoration of the heel morphology by mtans of plate and screws in the complex fractures. They particularly report the satisfactory results got through the use of Lanzetta's plates, which, allowing a good reducting and a steady synthesis in the complex fractures also, permit an early mobilization.
