ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the organization of reciprocal constructive activity in patients with ischemic stroke based on hemispheric localization of the lesion and the profile of lateral organization in a segment of leading hand. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included 57 post-stroke patients. An experimental method and a set of neuropsychological tests were used. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: There was an overall decline in the parameters of constructive activity (accuracy and rate) in patients with ischemic stroke, regardless of localization of the lesion and the profile of lateral brain organization in the segment of leading hand. Constructive activities of left-handed patients with right-hemisphere stroke and right-handed patients with left-hemisphere lesions are regulated by reciprocal and dynamic organization of praxis functions. In right-handed patients with right hemisphere ischemic stroke and left-handed patients with left-hemisphere lesions, constructive activities are regulated by the kinetic-kinesthetic organization of the motor act, dynamic organization of the motor act that characterizes the reciprocal organization.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To study body image disturbances in patients with typical meningioma of parietal-occipital localization before and after surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twenty-three patients with the diagnosis of «typical meningioma of parietal-occipital localization¼ were studied. A battery of neuropsychological tests, dissociation methodology of «Image-I¼ and the method «Silhouette¼ were used. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The body schema disorders were found in patients with meningioma of parietal-occipital area. There was the disturbance of the right-left orientation and position of body parts in space and in relation to each other as well as the disparity between the overall weight and height objective indicators and subjective perceptions of the body. After surgery, the body orientation was significantly improved. The distinct differentiation of the position of body parts relative to one another, adequate correlation between the position of two hands and unerring left-right orientation were seen. Perceptions of the body became more adequate for the number of body parts and their size, but the person's own ideas about the constitution as a whole remained inadequate.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To study neuropsychological characteristics of perception processes, recognition and differentiation of emotional distress in post stroke patients with regard to localization of ischemic lesion. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Authors examined 47 post stroke patients with right-hemisphere and left hemisphere localization of ischemic stroke in the early stage of hospitalization. The Subjective Feelings Scale and a battery of neuropsychological tests were used. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In patients with right-hemisphere localization of the lesion, positive emotional reactions were more frequent, neuropsychological implementation level was realized through details and differentiation of the image. In patients with left-hemispheric localization of ischemic stroke, negative emotional reactions were dominated and neuropsychological implementation level was realized through a vague and undifferentiated way.

ABSTRACT

UNLABELLED: Objective. To study neuropsychological status based on functional asymmetry of patients after ischemic stroke (II). Material and methods. We examined 92 patients after II of different pathogenetic types (atherothrombotic, cardioembolic, lacunar). Results. The first-ever description of patient's neuropsychological status of II patients based on the functional asymmetry of the brain is presented. In case of left-hemisphere lesion, parameters of expressive speech and count function were systemic factors in right-handed patients and expressive speech and praxis in left-handed patients. In right-hemisphere lesion, basic factors were reading function in right-handed patients and praxis and count functions in left-handed patients. CONCLUSION: The results can be used for development of rehabilitation programs in post stroke patients.
