ABSTRACT

The author analyzed dynamics and structure of occupational morbidity including pneumoconiosis in Rostov region of Russian Federation, since 1990 until now. They were compared with analogous parameters of previous historical period. Findings are that contemporary dynamics of anthracosilicosis clinical features is characterized by severily reduced terms of the disease development from medical registration of the diseased miner, earlier addition of malignancy, respiratory failure and other complications--that in aggregate causes earlier disablement and drastically reduced survival rate in occupational patients with anthracosilicosis.

ABSTRACT

The article covers data on wide prevalence of occupational neuro-sensory deafness in Russian Federation where nowadays three major deafness classifications are applied, international, for noise-related occupations and for medical and social examination. The authors analyzed present classifications of deafness, emphasized positive and negative aspects of each classification from occupational medicine viewpoint. Several classifications applied at the same time complicate professional activity of specialists solving diagnostic, occupational and social problems of patients with occupational deafness and result in conflicts. Advantage of the classification for noise-related occupations is that it enables to evaluate premorbid deafness, since early signs of ear alteration due to noise, and even slight negative changes in hearing could be addressed by specialists (as stages and degrees cover 10 dB differences), however review of audiometric assessment is necessary for noise-related occupations. To increase efficiency of ENT-specialists work in diagnosis and prevention of occupational neuro-sensory deafness, legal and methodic basis should be developed.

ABSTRACT

The study based on Rehabilitation Center No 2 in Rostov region covered 100 male patients with dust obstructive bronchitis. The authors considered organisational and legal problems of medical rehabilitation for patients with occupational diseases caused by dust. The authors also specified and suggested stages of individual medical rehabilitation and efficiency criteria for rehabilitation, exeplified by dust obstructive bronchitis patients. Data show that creation and accomplishment of individual medical rehabilitation programs for dust obstructive bronchitis patients enable to optimize rehabilitation process, provide continuity of medical rehabilitation, evaluate efficiency of rehabilitation measures on each step of medical rehabilitation. Higher efficiency of rehabilitation is achieved by individual rehabilitation added by nebulizer treatment, efferent therapy, psychologic correction and specialized education for chronic patients with obstructive lung diseases.

ABSTRACT

Current national classification of occupational bronchitis lacks to consider drastic changes in understanding pathogenesis of bronchial diseases over the recent decade, that leads to misunderstanding between occupational therapists and general practitioners in using this classification. The authors suggested a variant to classify occupational bronchial diseases: chronic occupational nonobstructive (simple) bronchitis and occupational COPD, that correspond to approaches accepted by international medical community. Tracheobronchial dyskinesia, asthmatic bronchitis and chronic pneumonia should be excluded from the classification.

ABSTRACT

The authors analyzed work conditions and occupational morbidity among working population of Rostov region. Miners and agricultural workers appeared to lead in exposure to occupational hazards, but occupational morbidity among the miners is the highest, but that among the agricultural workers was proved to be the lowest. ABSTRACT

The article covers analysis of mortality coefficients among able-bodied males in various administrative districts of RF and in South Federal District territories according to Russian Statistics Agency. The territories examined were ranked according to coefficients of mortality with all causes and with separate causes. The authors necessitate studies revealing role of occupational factors in formation of mortality parameters among able-bodied individuals.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with evaluation of occupational risk, based on thorough analysis of occupational morbidity among coal miners of East Donbass, considering results of periodic medical examinations conducted by specialists of Rostov regional Occupational pathology center. Those results form a basis of mathematic modelling for a posteriori occupational risk.

ABSTRACT

The author analyzed changes in occupational morbidity among workers of leading economic branches of Russian Federation, gave prognosis of occupational morbidity level for recent and distant future. The morbidity level is characterized by reliable decreasing trend--that is due to long decline in diagnostic rate of occupational diseases in periodic medical examinations. The author specified mathematic model to evaluate a posteriori occupational risk, based on materials concerning periodic medical examinations in coal miners.
