ABSTRACT

Immunogenic properties of TVGRGDPHQ nonapeptide which is correspondent to the region 1094-1102 of B. pertussis filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) were studied. The conjugate of bovine serum albumin with nonapeptide was used for immunization of BALB/c and CBA mice. Antisera of the both lines of mice cross-reacted with a number of antigens, but using affinity chromatography peptide and FHA specific antibodies were extracted. Affinity purified rabbit antibodies to TVGRGPHQ which recognize FHA were also obtained. Therefore the antibodies to the peptide which placed RGD-containing region responsible for macrophage CR3-integrin interaction are capable to distinguish the native antigen. Thus these data are an additional evidence for the nonapeptide use as a component of synthetic vaccine against whooping-cough.

ABSTRACT

The authors analyzed CT-data on 1732 patients aged 21 to 83 to detect symptom-free renal cysts which were found in 30% of the patients. The rates and prevalence of symptom-free renal cysts were studied. A high resolution was noted. A majority of cysts was detected in patients over 50. The rates and prevalence of renal cysts testified to their low clinical significance (in the authors' opinion).

ABSTRACT

For objective assessment of an ultrasound picture of the kidneys in tumors the authors compared the results of USI, angiography of the kidneys and the removed operative material. In 32 cases kidney tumors were hyperechogeneous, in 13 cases--medium echogeneous, and in 8 cases--hypoechogeneous. The authors detected no relationship between a degree of vascularization of the tumor and its echogeneous type. By their results hypernephromas can have a different echographic picture which may be determined by tumor macromorphology (the presence of necrosis, cystic cavities, etc.). Sizes of kidney tumors by USI findings were 10-15% less than true tumor sizes, and the determination of tumor borders based on USI findings, was rather difficult.

ABSTRACT

The authors described the anatomy of the kidneys and retroperitoneal space in health on the basis of CT of 90 patients. Five typical levels in CT (ensuring all necessary data on roentgenomorphological traits of the kidneys and retroperitoneal space in the kidney area) were singled out. Some roentgenometric data on kidney cross-sections as well as the quantitative densitometric characterization of the parenchyma of the kidneys, renal sinus and adjacent tissues were presented. X-ray anatomy of the renal fascia, pararenal space and perirenal fatty space of the kidney with different parts of the retroperitoneal space was described.
