ABSTRACT

The results of 0.3% sodium chloride solution application for the prevention of wound suppuration are reviewed. The experiments were carried out on animals, by making several pricks around the place of injection of potentially pathogenic microorganisms (staphylococcus, E. coli and yeast-like fungi) and forming a "tight" infiltrate. No inflammation was observed in the place of injection and the following "tight" infiltration by 0.3% sodium chloride solution. The control animals revealed suppuration in the infiltration area, and bacteriological analysis isolated initial cultures of microorganisms.
