ABSTRACT

The paper reviews the significance of rats of the genus Rattus as hosts for zoogenous infections in a genus formation area (Southeast Asia) as compared to the invasion part of the genus area. The rats of the genus Rattus and their related disease agents are shown to be a uniqe model for the formation and development of a host-pathogen system. In the modern period of urbanization growth, the rats are among few species of warm-blooded vectors that can maintain the anthropurgic foci of feral nidal infections in the cities and towns and transmit their pathogens to the urban population. There are all prerequisites for the high activity of these foci in the native area of rats. By having settled, the rats have carried infectious agents outside this area along all continents in historical times. During invasions, the rats have become carriers of many other infections.

ABSTRACT

A method for detection of cancer-associated protein D-NFATc1 in serum using nanowire (NW) biosensor based on field-effect nanotransistor is developed. Field-effect nanotransistor was fabricated on the basis of «silicon-on-insulator¼ structures. For the biospecific detection of target protein, the NW surface was modified with aptamers against the target protein. Using the 3 um-NW enabled to obtain stable source-drain characteristics and to register D-NFATc1 in serum at concentration of 2.5 x 1014 M in the mode of drain-source current vs. gate voltage characteristics measurements. Data collection in the mode of drain-source current vs. gate voltage characteristics measurements was carried out with the use of high-speed data collection system running TURBO NBS software.

ABSTRACT

The nanowire (NW) detection is one of fast-acting and high-sensitive methods allowing to reveal potentially relevant protein molecules. A NW biosensor based on the silicon-on-insulator (SOI)-structures was used for biospecific label-free detection of NFAT 1 (D-NFAT 1) oncomarker in real time. For this purpose, SOI-nanowires (NWs) were modified with aptamers against NFAT 1 used as molecular probes. It was shown that using this biosensor it is possible to reach the sensitivity of ~10(-15) M. This sensitivity was comparable with that of the NW biosensor with immobilized antibodies used as macromolecular probes. The results demonstrate promising approaches used to form the sensor elements for high-sensitive disease diagnostics.

ABSTRACT

AIM: Detection of contemporary features of tularemia focimanifestations, determination of territories of high epidemic risk in various landscape zones and creation of a map of foci territories of Moscow Region for isolation of tularemia infectious agent cultures and registered human morbidity for justified planning of prophylaxis measures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Report materials of epizootologic examinations of natural foci for 1965-2013, 156 maps of epidemiologic examination of cases of human infection with tularemia, results of studies of casting of predatory birds and dung of predatory mammals were used. Registered morbidity and isolation of tularemia infectious agent cultures from 1965 to date were applied to an electronic map of Moscow Region by sign method using modern. GIS-technologies (MapInfo 10.5 program). Electronic maps Ingit at 1:200,000 scale, as well as Google Earth program were used to search for base points. RESULTS: Analysis of morbidity has revealed structure change in human tularemia morbidity--an increase of the fraction of urban population and a decrease of the fraction of patients among rural inhabitants, unimmunized against this infection are mostly ill. The presence of DNA of tularemia causative agent in biological objects in the complex with serologic and bacteriological studies was shown to allow to detect flaccid epizootics even at low numbers of rodents. CONCLUSION: Cartographic reflection of registered morbidity and isolation of tularemia infectious agent cultures allowed to show territories with various degrees of epizootic activity and epidemic manifestation. Positive results of serologic and molecular-genetic studies of environmental objects gives evident on epizootic activity and constant risk of aggravation of epidemic situation for this infection.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To show the capabilities of ultrasound monitoring to assess consolidation processes in fractures of long tubular bones in the use of bioactive material-containing implants. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Eighty-two (45.1%) patients whose bone fragments had been fixed with bioactive material-coated plates and 100 (54.9%) patients with bioinert material-coated ones were examined. Consolidation changes were estimated by ultrasound and X-ray studies 2, 4, 6, and 12 months after surgery. Bone metabolic changes were determined by US osteometry 2 months following surgery. Ultrasound data were compared with the biochemical markers: C-terminal telopeptide (CrossLaps) and osteocalcin. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Ultrasound monitoring of the rates of consolidation and the time course of changes in bone strength versus the biochemical markers established the positive effect of bioactiveplates on the process of consolidation in fractures of tubular bones and made it possible to consider local osteopenic syndrome to be a prognostically favorable sign of timely callus formation.

ABSTRACT

AIM: Establish the main reasons of low epizootic activity of natural foci of plague in Russian Federation in 2000-2009. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Multiyear data on the number of isolated Yersinia pestis strains, area of detected epizootic sites, amounts of the field material studied for plague were used to evaluate annual activity of natural foci. RESULTS: In the current decade mountain and high-mountain natural foci of plague were characterized by constant high epizootic activity. In plains and low-mountain natural foci a low periodic epizootic activity was noticed, a development of intra-epizootic periods. A conditioning role of helioclimatic factors on the status of parasitic systems and epizootic activity of natural foci of plague was noticed. CONCLUSION: The warming of climate in 1990-2007 was the main reason for low epizootic activity of plains natural foci of plague in Russia. In the contemporary conditions of a recurrent cooling (from 2008) and an increase of humidity in the Northern, North-Western pre-Caspian and pre-Caucasus territories, a new significant activation of them is predicted there with a peak in 2017-2019.

ABSTRACT

One of the key elements in epidemiologic control for infectious diseases is timely and active identification of contacts, which results in in-time hospitalization of patients that are needed it and allows to conduct educational work with the public. Measures for outpatient medical and preventive help in Legionella infection which were developed on the experience of termination of outbreak of pneumonia caused by Legionella in town Verkhnyaya Pyshma in July-August, 2007 are presented.

ABSTRACT

In clause were studied dilametric properties of a compact bone fabric of the person. Complex dependence of change of the sizes of a bone sample is revealed at his gradual heating. Laws of the relative sizes and Factors of temperature expansion are received at heating a bone fabric on air and under water, and also dilametry at degidration of bone tissue.

ABSTRACT

Quantitative evaluation of impact of such groups of factors as health care system potential, demographic structure, degree of social economic development and emergency care services potential on the level of emergency care appealability in municipalities of subject of Russian Federation is discussed. Multivariate analysis was applied as research tool. Compound complex of causes impacts development of emergency care appealability. Degree of municipal health care system development is the most important of them. Mathematical forecast of effectiveness of certain managerial options targeting decrease of emergency care appealability is given.

ABSTRACT

The main patterns of the functioning of the photosynthetic system of the French bean were established on the basis of comparative tests of eight cultivars and varieties. Some agrotechnical methods were developed which enhance the highest efficiency of the plant's photosynthetic activity. The data obtained are essential for the introduction of promising varieties of the bean cultures in the nonchernozem zone of Russia.

ABSTRACT

The authors have made an attempt to make exact the reasons of the frequent association of hand dystrophic pathology and duodenal ulceration disease in women. It is revealed that pointed diseases are to be the late symptoms of equally directed alterations in the organism, including neuro-humoral and immune mechanisms of adaptation, occurring in women even in sexual maturing period and being the favourable background for occurrence of various diseases including hand dystrophic pathology and duodenal ulcerative disease.
