ABSTRACT

Experiments in vivo demonstrated the protective effect of modified nanodiamonds on guinea pig skin after local exposure cobalt ions, but not chrome ions. The observed differences are determined by different adsorption of these ions by nanodiamonds: in vitro experiments showed that nanodiamonds adsorbed cobalt ions, but not chrome ions from water solutions. The perspectives of using modified nanodiamonds as a new adsorbent for prevention of allergic contact dermatitis induced by ions of bivalent metals are discussed.

ABSTRACT

The data show that syphilis is widespread in the society and may be seen among every age group of population from infants to the elderly. A description of 8 unusual cases of syphilis revealed in Russia during the current epidemic of this disease is discussed, including congenital syphilis, acquired syphilis in children, and malignant syphilis in adults.

ABSTRACT

The authors have developed a method for coproporphyrin III measurements in nasal sebaceous gland orifices by contact biomicroscopy. Increased levels of coproporphyrin III were detected with this method in patients with lupus erythematosus, photodermatitis, acne vulgaris.

ABSTRACT

Life-time microfluorometry of the skin, carried out in 52 patients suffering from allergic dermatitis and eczemas, in 22 normal subjects, and in 10 patients with latent sensitization to nickel, chromium, and fluorides, has revealed a complex of changes of the primary and secondary fluorescence of the skin cells (keratinocytes and Langerhans' cells) and of the fluorescein transport in the skin. The authors suggest that life-time microfluorometry of the skin can be employed for the early diagnosis of allergic dermatoses in industrial conditions.

ABSTRACT

Eighteen patients with contact allergic dermatitis, 32 patients with eczema, 20 clinically healthy workers of a metallurgy plant with latent sensitization, and 133 normal subjects have been examined with the use of immunologic tests, contact biomicroscopy of the skin, and life-time microfluorometry of the skin. The immune system regulatory mechanism stress has been revealed in the workers with latent sensitization. Adaptation type shifts have been detected in the skin, aimed at the elimination of chemicals entering the skin.
