ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to analyze the degree of agreement comparing number and distance covered in different acceleration and deceleration sections registered by a video tracking system (MEDIACOACH) and a GPS device (WIMU PRO) during official competition. Data from a Spanish professional club were registered over the course of a season. First, the descriptive statistics presented more bursts of accelerations and decelerations in WIMU PRO than in MEDIACOACH, whereas the distances covered recorded by both systems were similar. Second, negative relationships were found (i.e., negative bias) comparing WIMU PRO to MEDIACOACH in the number of accelerations and decelerations between 0/1 m/s2 and ½ m/s2 (p < 0.05), and in the distances covered in accelerations and decelerations (p < 0.05) between 0/1 m/s2 and in accelerations and decelerations registered between 2/3 m/s2 and more than 3 m/s2. Moreover, the differences in means (i.e., standardized mean bias) across the two devices were trivial (> 0.19) and small (0.2-0.59) for most variables. The standardized typical errors in the estimate (TEE) were moderate (0.3-0.59) and small to moderate (0.1-0.29 to 0.3-0.59), respectively. Also, the Intra class Correlation Coefficients (ICCs) for agreement and consistency between systems showed good and excellent values (> 0.90). The magnitude of change in means (%) between systems, defined as the percentage change between the numbers or values, was below 14% and 7% for number and distances covered, respectively. All scores in the smallest worthwhile change were lower than 9% and in the coefficients of variation were lower than 95% and 15%, respectively. Thus, both systems demonstrated an acceptable degree of agreement and could be useful in analyzing players' acceleration demands in professional soccer. However, caution is required when interpreting the results and a comparison with a gold standard is required in order to validate both systems.

El objetivo de este estudio era analizar los efectos de un programa de formación sobre la conducta verbal de entrenadores de fútbol base no cualificados. El programa estaba basado en el fomento de estrategias motivacionales y metodológicas para optimizar las necesidades psicológicas básicas de los deportistas, aumentando las conductas relacionadas a un estilo interpersonal de apoyo y, reduciendo las conductas asociadas a un estilo interpersonal controlador. Participaron ocho entrenadores distribuidos intencionadamente en dos grupos: grupo experimental (n = 4) y grupo control (n = 4). Tras la observación del estilo interpersonal de los entrenadores (pre y post) mediante un instrumento creado a propósito para el estudio, no se obtuvieron diferencias significativas entre los dos grupos, aunque los resultados del grupo experimental demostraron una tendencia positiva entre la medida pre-intervención y la post-intervención. Por tanto, el programa resulta eficaz pero no en la medida que se esperaba, por lo que es preciso seguir investigando en esta línea de trabajo


The main objective of this study was to analyze the effects of a training program on the verbal behavior of unskilled youth football coaches without training and academic qualification (related with physical and sport training). The program was based on the promotion of motivational and methodological strategies with the purpose of optimizing the athletes' basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence and relatedness, through an interpersonal style of support and, in turn, reducing the controlling behaviors. Participated eight coaches intentionally distributed in two groups: experimental group (n = 4) and control group (n = 4). After observing of the interpersonal style of the coaches (pre and post) by an instrument created on purpose for the study, there was not significant differences in the extent post-intervention between groups, regarding the repeated measures analysis of the experimental group there are improvements between pre-intervention and post-intervention measure. Therefore, the program is effective but not to the extent expected, so it is necessary to continue research in this line of work


O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar os efeitos de uma intervenção no comportamento verbal de treinadores sem formação federativa e acadêmica relacionada à atividade física e desporto. O programa foi baseado na promoção de estratégias motivacionais e metodológicas para otimizar as necessidades psicológicas básicas dos atletas de autonomia, competência e relações sociais, através de um estilo de apoio interpessoal e reduzindo os comportamentos controladores. Oito treinadores participaram intencionalmente e foram distribuídos em dois grupos: grupo experimental (n = 4) e grupo de controlo (n = 4). Depois de observar o estilo interpessoal dos treinadores (pré e pós) através de um instrumento criado para o propósito do estudo, não foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre os dois grupos, embora os resultados do grupo experimental tenham mostrado uma tendência positiva entre a medida pré-intervenção e a pós-intervenção. Portanto, o programa é eficaz, mas não na medida esperada, sendo por isso necessária mais investigação neste âmbito

El objetivo del estudio fue realizar una validación al castellano de la escala desarrollada por Myers, Chase, Beauchamp, y Jackson (2010) sobre la competencia del entrenador (Athletes’ Perceptions of Coaching Competency Scale II-High School Teams: APCCS II-HST). La muestra del estudio estuvo formada por 581 jugadores, de los cuales 356 jugadores eran de género masculino y 225 de género femenino, con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 39 años (M = 24.51; DT = 3.73). Tras analizar diferentes modelos de medida, los resultados indican que la estructura Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) de primer orden es la que mejor se ajusta a los datos, mostrando además correlaciones entre factores más bajas. Además, la escala mostró una adecuada consistencia interna y validez concurrente a través de las relaciones con la satisfacción con el entrenador, y se mostró invariante para jugadores de ambos géneros. De esta manera, los entrenadores y psicólogos deportivos podrían utilizar esta escala para medir cada una de las dimensiones del instrumento de competencia del entrenador en deportistas de alto rendimiento (AU)


The aim of the study was to develop a validation into Spanish of the of the scale carried out by Myers, Chase, Beauchamp, and Jackson (2010) about coach’ competence (Athletes’ Perceptions of Coaching Competency Scale II-High School Teams: APCCS II-HST). The sample was formed by 581 players, whom 356 athletes were male and 225 individuals were female, ranging in age from 18 to 39 years old (M = 24.51; SD = 3.73). After analyzing different measurement models, the results indicate that Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) structure the first-order is the best fit for the data, showing correlations lower between factors. In addition, the scale showed adequate internal consistency and concurrent validity through relationships with coach satisfaction, and was shown to be invariant for players of both genders. Thus, coaches and sport psychologists might use this scale to measure each of the instruments’ dimensions of coaching competency in high performance athletes (AU)


O objectivo do estudo foi realizar uma validação à língua castelhana da escala desenvolvida por Myers, Chase, Beauchamp, & Jackson (2010) sobre a competência do treinador (Athletes´ Perceptions of Coaching Competency Scale IIHigh School Teams: APCCS II-HST). A amostra do estudo foi formada por 581 jogadores, dos quais 356 jogadores eram do género masculino e 225 do género feminino, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 39 anos (M = 24.51; DP = 3.73). Depois de analizar os diferentes modelos de medida, os resultados indicam que a estrutura Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) de primeira ordem é a que melhor se ajusta aos dados, mostrando ainda correlações entre factores mais baixas. A escala mostrou ainda uma adequada consistência interna e validade simultaneamente através das relações de satisfação com o treinador e invariável para os jogadores de ambos os sexos. Desta maneira os treinadores e psicólogos desportivos poderiam utilizar esta escala para medir cada uma das dimensões do instrumento de competência de treinador em desportistas de alto nível (AU)

El objetivo de este estudio era adaptar y validar al contexto deportivo el Cuestionario de Motivación en Educación Física (CMEF), basado en la Teoría de la Autodeterminación (Deci y Ryan, 1985; 2000; Ryan y Deci, 2000) y desarrollado originalmente en el ámbito educativo, para tratar de analizar la motivación intrínseca, identificada, introyectada, externa y desmotivación de los adolescentes. Para ello, participaron un total de 985 deportistas con edades comprendidas entre los 10 y 16 años (M = 14.34; DT = 2.52), de género masculino y femenino pertenecientes a 24 modalidades deportivas diferentes. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron que la escala con cinco factores correlacionados presentaba una adecuada validez factorial a partir de los índices de ajuste obtenidos, registró relaciones positivas entre los motivos de práctica más autodeterminados y relaciones negativas con la desmotivación, que oscilaron de entre -,21 a ,74. Además, se obtuvieron valores aceptables de consistencia interna (Ω > .70) y resultó invariante en función del género, considerando las mínimas modificaciones sufridas en ∆CFI. Asimismo, la validez discriminante de los factores resultó satisfactoria. Por tanto, este estudio aporta una nueva herramienta que permite analizar los tipos de regulación motivacional que impulsan a los adolescentes a realizar una práctica deportiva (AU)

Para ele, participaram um total de 985 desportistas com idades compreendidas entre 10 e 16 anos (M = 14.34; DP = 2.52), do género masculino e feminino pertencentes a 24 diferentes modalidades desportivas. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que a escala com cinco factores correlacionados apresentava uma adequada validez factorial a partir dos índices de ajuste obtidos, com relações positivas entre razões de práticas mais auto-determinada e relações negativas com amotivação, que vão desde - ,21 a ,74. Além disso, valores de consistência interna aceitáveis (Ω > .70) foram obtidos e provou gênero invariável, tendo em conta as mínimas modificações sofridas no Confirmatory Fit Index (∆CFI). Asi mismo, validade discriminante dos fatores foi satisfatória. Portanto o estudo contribuiu para uma nova ferramenta que permite analisar os tipos de regulação motivacional que impulsam os adolescentes a realizar uma prática desportiva. The aim of this study was to adapt and validate into the sport context the Motivational Questionnaire in Physical Education (CMEF), based on Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 1985; 2000; Ryan & Deci, 2000) and developed to be used in the educative domain, to assess the intrinsic motivation, identified, introyected, external and amotivation. Thus, 985 athletes, ranging in age from 10 to 16 years old (M = 14.34; SD = 2.52), both male and female belonged to 24 different sport modalities, participated in the study. Results showed that the scale with five factors correlated had an adequate factorial validity through the fit index, with positive relationships between types of motivation more self-determined and negative relations with the amotivation, ranging from - ,21 to ,74. In addition, acceptable internal consistency values (Ω > .70) were obtained and an invariance analysis taking into account the minimum modifications obtained in ∆CFI was conducted. Besides, the discriminant validity of the factors was satisfactory. Therefore, this research provides a new instrument that allows examining the types of motivational regulation that the adolescents have to participate in sport (AU)

ABSTRACT

Basado en la teoría de la autodeterminación, el objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar los perfiles motivacionales de los estudiantes de educación física (EF) y valorar las posibles relaciones existentes con determinados comportamientos y actitudes hacia las clases de EF. La muestra del estudio estaba formada por 1.690 estudiantes con edades comprendidas entre los 12 y los 16 años, pertenecientes a diferentes centros de enseñanza secundaria de la comunidad autónoma de Extremadura. Los resultados destacaron la existencia de 4 perfiles motivacionales: baja calidad, baja cantidad, alta cantidad y alta calidad. Además, el análisis de los datos indicó que los alumnos de sexo femenino, de menor edad y que practicaban actividad física extraescolar presentaban perfiles más autodeterminados que el resto. Por último, se comprobó que a medida que los perfiles motivacionales son más autodeterminados se producen consecuencias más adaptativas, como la importancia concedida a la EF, el disfrute y el desarrollo de comportamientos positivos, ocurriendo a la inversa en el caso del aburrimiento. Como conclusión, el estudio destaca la importancia que adquieren los procesos motivacionales desarrollados por los alumnos para explicar la aparición de determinadas consecuencias durante las clases de EF.


Based on the Self-Determination Theory, this study sought to analyse motivational profiles of Physical Education (PE) students, as well as to assess the relationship with several behaviours and attitudes toward PE classes. The sample consisted of 1,690 pupils aged 12 to 16, from different secondary schools of the Region of Extremadura. The results highlight the existence of four motivational profiles: Low Quality, Low Quantity, High Quantity, and High Quality. Moreover, data analysis showed that younger female individuals who practiced extracurricular physical activity had more self-determined profiles than the rest of participants. Lastly, it was demonstrated that the more self-determined motivational profiles are produced as a result of being more adaptive, such as to the importance of PE, enjoyment, and development of positive behaviours. Contrarily, boredom has an inverse process. As a conclusion, the study emphasised the importance of the motivational processes developed by pupils to explain several outcomes during PE classes.

ABSTRACT

Sobre la base teórica de la Teoría de la Autodeterminación, con el presente estudio se pretendía analizar el efecto de las aplicaciones móviles relacionadas con el control del entrenamiento, sobre las necesidades psicológicas básicas, el nivel de autodeterminación hacia la práctica deportiva y la diversión. Para ello, se desarrolló un estudio cuasi experimental en el que participaron 54 alumnos (M = 16.4; DT = 1.51), de género masculino (n = 32) y de género femenino (n = 22) de cinco centros de enseñanza secundaria de la comunidad autónoma de Extremadura. Los sujetos del grupo experimental (n = 27) desarrollaron un programa de intervención de entrenamiento autónomo de tipo aeróbico registrado y controlado en la aplicación móvil 'Endomondo Sport Tracker' de ocho semanas de duración. Los componentes del grupo de control experimental (n = 27) registraron el mismo programa de entrenamiento autónomo en una ficha de registro facilitada por el grupo investigador. Los resultados demostraron que la satisfacción de la necesidad de competencia, la autodeterminación hacia la realización de la actividad y la diversión al realizarla fueron mayores en aquellos participantes que utilizaron la aplicación respecto a aquellos que no la utilizaron. A pesar de ello, no se registraron diferencias significativas en la mayoría de las variables analizadas en el estudio, por lo que se considera necesario seguir indagando en esta línea de trabajo (AU)


About the theoretical base of the Autodetermination Theory, the present research has tried to analyse the effect of the mobile applications which are related to the control of training about the basic psychological needs, the level of self-determination towards sport practice and fun. In order to do that, a quasi-experimental research was carried out in which 54 students (M = 16.4; SD = 1.51), both male and female, of different state schools of secondary education of Extremadura. The subjects of the experimental group (n=27) developed a programme of intervention of autonomous training of aerobic kind which was recorded and controlled with the mobile application 'Endomondo Sport Tracker', with an eight- week duration. The components of the group of experimental control (n=27) recorded the same programme of autonomous training in a record sheet provided by the research group. The results showed that the satisfaction of the need for competence, the self-determination towards the fulfillment of the activity and the fun when carrying it out were higher in those students who used the application in regard to those who did not. In spite of that, no meaningful differences were noticed in most of the variables analyzed in the study, therefore, deeper research in this field must be carried out (AU)


Com base teórica da Teoria da Autodeterminação, o presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar o efeito de aplicações móveis relacionados com a formação de monitoramento das necessidades psicológicas básicas, o nível de auto -determinação para o esporte e diversão. , Sexo masculino (n = 32) e feminino ( n = 22) de cinco escolas secundárias na comunidade; para fazer isso, um estudo quasi- experimental , em que 54 alunos (M = 1,51 DP = 16,4 ) participaram desenvolvido Extremadura autônoma. Os indivíduos do grupo experimental (n = 27) desenvolveram um programa de intervenção treinamento aeróbio autônomo registrado e controlado nas 'Endomondo Sports Tracker' aplicativo móvel oito semanas. Os componentes do grupo de controle experimental ( n = 27) tiveram o mesmo programa de treinamento autônomo em um formulário de inscrição fornecido pelo grupo de pesquisa . Os resultados mostraram que a satisfação da necessidade de competência, auto -determinação para a realização da atividade e divertido de ser realizada foram maiores nos participantes que utilizaram o aplicativo com relação àqueles que não usaram . No entanto, não foram observadas diferenças significativas na maioria das variáveis analisadas no estudo, por isso é considerada necessária para continuar o trabalho nesta linha de trabalho (AU)

ABSTRACT

Grounded in Self-Determination Theory, structural equation modeling (SEM) with the aim of examining how parental support/pressure could influence their children´s motivational processes in sport was conducted, as well as the models´ differences in operability regarding gender. The sample size was 321 children ranging in age from 10 to 16 years old who were athletes from Extremadura, and 321 parents (included only the father or mother more involved with the sport of his or her child). 175 participants were male and 146 were female from individual (n = 130), and team sports (n=191). A questionnaire was conducted to assess parental perception of support/pressure and another questionnaire was conducted to measure satisfaction of basic psychological needs, type of motivation and enjoyment/boredom showed by their children towards sport practice. Results revealed that parental pressure negatively predicted satisfaction of the basic psychological needs. It also emerged as a strong positive predictor of intrinsic motivation and negative predictor of amotivation. Moreover, intrinsic motivation emerged as positive predictor of enjoyment and a negative predictor of boredom, whereas amotivation positively predicted boredom and negatively predicted enjoyment. Furthermore, results showed there were mean differences by gender: male athletes perceived greater parental pressure. Hence, it is necessary to decrease parental pressure towards their children in sport, with the aim of making them more motivated and enjoy, promoting positive consequences.

A través del presente trabajo se pretende valorar la importancia de las necesidades psicológicas básicas para explicar y predecir el tipo de motivación y los niveles de burnout en profesores de educación física. Para ello, la muestra estuvo formada por 357 docentes de género masculino y femenino, pertenecientes a diferentes centros educativos públicos y privados de España. Se realizó un análisis de regresión lineal por cada variable dependiente, que indicaron cómo la frustración de la necesidad de competencia predecía positivamente la desmotivación, el agotamiento emocional y el cinismo, y negativamente la motivación intrínseca y la eficacia profesional; la frustración de autonomía predecía positivamente el agotamientos emocional y negativamente la eficacia profesional; y la frustración de relaciones sociales predecía positivamente la eficacia profesional. Estos resultados están en la línea de la Teoría de la Autodeterminación (Deci y Ryan,2000; Ryan y Deci, 2000), destacando la importancia que adquieren la satisfacción de autonomía, competencia y relaciones sociales para optimizarla motivación y el bienestar de los profesores de educación física (AU)


This work aims to assess the importance of the basic psychological needs to explain and predict the type of motivation and levels of burnout in physical education teachers. To achieve this purpose, the sample was formed by 357 male and female teachers, belonged to different public and private schools from Spain. A regression analysis by each dependent variable was conducted, which showed that thwarting of the needs of competence positively predicted a motivation, emotional burnout and effrontery, and negatively predicted intrinsic motivation and professional efficacy; thwarting of the need of autonomy positively predicted emotional burnout and negatively predicted professional efficacy. These results are consistent with Self-Determination Theory (Deci y Ryan, 2000; Ryan y Deci, 2000),emphasizing the importance of satisfaction of autonomy, competence and relatedness to optimize motivation and welfare in physical education teachers (AU)


Através do presente trabalho pretendia-se avaliar a importância das necessidades psicológicas básicas para explicar e predizer o tipo de motivação e os níveis de burnout em professores de educação física. Para isso,a amostra foi formada por 357 professores do género masculino e feminino,pertencentes a diferentes centros educativos públicos e privadas de Espanha.Realizou-se uma análise de regressão linear para cada variável dependente,que indicaram como a frustração da necessidade de competência previa positivamente desmotivação, exaustão emocional e o cinismo e negativamente motivação intrínseca e a eficácia profissional; a frustração de autonomia previa positivamente a exaustão emocional e negativamente a eficácia profissional;e a frustração das relações sociais, previa positivamente, a eficácia profissional. Estes resultados estão na linha da Teoria da Autodeterminação(Deci y Ryan, 2000; Ryan y Deci, 2000), salientando a importância adquirida pela satisfação de autonomia, competência e relações sociais paraoptimizar a motivação e o bem-estar dos professores de educação física (AU)

ABSTRACT

El principal objetivo del estudio fue conocer las relaciones entre padres e hijos en la percepción de intención, actuación y juicio de los posibles comportamientos antisociales en el contexto deportivo, valorando en una misma acción deportiva, la moralidad mostrada por ambos significativos y considerando el clima fomentado por los padres en los deportistas para la aparición o no de estas conductas. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 1.420 participantes, 710 deportistas, con edades comprendidas entre los 11 y 16 años (M = 12.76; DE = 1.15) y 710 padres, con edades comprendidas entre los 36 y 49 años (M = 43.56; DE = 2.95), de varios deportes colectivos: fútbol, baloncesto, balonmano y voleibol. Deportistas y padres diligenciaron cuestionarios destinados a valorar la percepción de los jugadores y padres sobre comportamientos antisociales y la percepción del clima motivacional que los padres transmiten a los deportistas. Los resultados muestran una relación significativa entre las variables antisociales en padres e hijos. Asimismo, la presión de los padres emerge como predictor de la intención y actuación de comportamientos antisociales. Finalmente, se indica que una participación adecuada de los padres en la práctica deportiva, supondrá el descenso de comportamientos antisociales por parte de los deportistas.


The main aim of the study was to know the relationships between parents and children with regard to perception of intention, performance and judgment of antisocial behaviors in the sport context, assessing in the same sport action, the morality shown by both significatives. The sample comprised 1420 participants, 710 athletes, ranging in age from 11 to 16 years old (M = 12.76; SD = 1.15), and 710 parents, ranging in age from 36 to 49 years old (M = 43.56; SD = 2.95). Athletes and parents completed questionnaires related to measure perception of players and parents' about antisocial behaviors, as well as perception of motivational climate developed by parents. Results showed a significant relationship among antisocial variables in parents and children. Moreover, parents' pressure emerged as predictor of intention and performance of antisocial behaviors. Finally, it is emphasized that appropriate parental participation in sport practice can promote the decrease of antisocial behaviors in athletes.
