ABSTRACT

The comparative evaluation of the reactogenic and immunogenic properties of vaccine "Euvax B" in adolescents aged 16-18 years was carried out in factory housing estate Lvovsky, the Podolsk district, the Moscow region, and in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (AD): in towns Salekhard, Noyabrsk, Muravlenko, in housing estate Tarko-Sale. The evaluation demonstrated that the use of this vaccine in a dose of 20 mg/ml produced no postvaccinal complications and the frequency of postvaccinal reactions was insignificant. Postvaccinal anti-HBs were detected, on the average, in protective concentrations in 98.4 +/- 1.8% of the vaccines (99.0 +/- 1.9% in the Moscow region, 97.7 +/- 3.2% in the Yamalo-Nenets AD). In most of the vaccinated adolescents high concentrations of postvacinal anti-HBs were detected: in 51.4 +/- 9.7% of the vaccinees in the Moscow region and in 89.7 +/- 6.4% in the Yamalo-Nenets AD they exceeded 1,000 I.U./lit. The conclusion was made that in the territories located in subarctic latitudes vaccinal prophylaxis against hepatitis B was safe and highly effective and have no limitations connected with the conditions of the Far North.

ABSTRACT

A range of multi-sided studies, carried out in various regions of Far North (Jamalo-Nenets autonomous region, Komi republic, Sakha republic (Yakutia)) have established the leading hygienic risk factors of population health deterioration, including those characteristic of small nationalities of North. The consideration of the obtained data, including regional alimentary status peculiarities, the condition of metabolic processes and antioxidant balance of the organism, allowed establishment of effective approaches to the maintenance of notherners' health. These approaches are based upon the optimization of nutrition as an element of population health control under extremal conditions.

ABSTRACT

Actual nutrition of children living at boarding-school of the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district and also characteristics of their health, such as capacity for work, vitamin metabolism, physical development and activity of bio-oxidant systems of organism have been studied. The obtained results have become the basis for developing scientifically substantiated principles of creating balanced nutrition ration with antioxidant properties for the children living at the Far North.

ABSTRACT

Social and natural factors, environmental pollution and general school reforms create prerequisites for deterioration of children's mental health in the Arctic. Therefore, it is necessary to modify an educational process, especially to transfer classes to later hours than those in the temperate zone of the country.

ABSTRACT

The scientifically grounded sound regimen is required for schoolchildren, younger ones in particular, who most experience unfavourable environmental factors. Particular emphasis should be laid on the regulation of educational burden at primary school since the irrational distribution of classes leads to the development of fatigue mainly in young schoolchildren and hence to lower working capacities and poor comprehensibility. The investigations have supported the earlier data that the children show the strained body's functional status which is deteriorated by the influence of educational burden. The findings suggest that there is a need to elaborate scientifically grounded preventive measures to minimize the unfavourable influence of environmental factors in the North and to develop and implement the means that enhance adaptive capabilities of the children there.
