ABSTRACT

FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 3-pentyl-2,6-di(furan-2-yl) piperidin-4-one (3-PFPO) were recorded in the solid phase. The structural and spectroscopic analyses of 3-PFPO were made by using B3LYP/HF level with 6-311++G(d, p) basis set. The fundamental vibrations are assigned on the basis of the total energy distribution (TED) of the vibrational modes, calculated with scaled quantum mechanics (SQM) method and PQS program. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of 3-PFPO with calculated results by HF and DFT methods indicates that B3LYP is superior to HF method for molecular vibrational problems. The electronic properties such as excitation energies, oscillator strength, wavelengths and HOMO-LUMO energies were obtained by time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) approach. The polarizability and first order hyperpolarizability of the title molecule were calculated and interpreted. The hyperconjugative interaction energy (E((2))) and electron densities of donor (i) and acceptor (j) bonds were calculated using NBO analysis. In addition, MEP and atomic charges of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen were calculated using B3LYP/6-311++G(d, p) level theory. Moreover, thermodynamic properties (heat capacities, entropy and enthalpy) of the title compound at different temperatures were calculated in gas phase.

ABSTRACT

In this work, we reported a combined experimental and theoretical study on molecular structure, vibrational spectra and Homo-Lumo analysis of Purpurin and TiO2/Purpurin. The geometries, electronic structures, molecular orbital analysis of natural dye sensitizer Purpurin were studied based on density functional theory (DFT) using the hybrid functional B3LYP. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and FT-Raman spectra have been recorded and extensive spectroscopic investigations have been carried out on Purpurin. The optimized geometries, wave number and intensity of the vibrational bands of Purpurin have been calculated using density functional level of theory (DFT/B3LYP) employing 6-311G (d,p) basis set. Based on the comparison between calculated and experimental results, assignments of the fundamental vibrational modes are examined. Features of the electronic absorption spectrum in the visible and near-UV regions were assigned based on TD-DFT calculations. The calculated results suggest that the three excited states with the lowest excited energies in 1,2,4, trihydroxy 9-10 anthraquinone was due to photo-induced electron transfer processes. Frontier molecular orbitals (FMO), LUMO, HOMO, and energy gap, of these dyes have been analyzed to show their effect on the process of electron injection and dye regeneration. Interaction between HOMO and LUMO of Purpurin are investigated to understand the recombination process and charge transfer process involving these dyes. We also performed analysis of I-V characteristics to investigate the role of charge transfer and the stability of the dye molecule.

ABSTRACT

The structural and spectroscopic studies of 3t-pentyl-2r,6c-diphenylpiperidin-4-one semicarbazone (PDPOSC) were made by adopting B3LYP/HF levels theory using 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The FT-IR and Raman spectra were recorded in solid phase, the fundamental vibrations were assigned on the basis of the total energy distribution (TED) of the vibrational modes, calculated with scaled quantum mechanics (SQM) method and PQS program. DFT method indicates that B3LYP is superior to HF method for molecular vibrational analysis. UV-vis spectrum of the compound was recorded in different solvents in the region of 200-800 nm and the electronic properties such as excitation energies, oscillator strength, wavelengths, HOMO and LUMO energies were evaluated by time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) approach. The polarizability and first order hyperpolarizability of the title molecule were calculated and interpreted. The hyperconjugative interaction energy (E((2))) and electron densities of donor (i) and acceptor (j) bonds were calculated using NBO analysis. In addition, MEP and atomic charges of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen were calculated using B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level theory. Moreover, thermodynamic properties of the title compound were calculated by B3LYP/HF, levels using 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The (1)H and (13)C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) chemical shifts of the molecule were calculated by the gauge independent atomic orbital (GIAO) method and compared with experimental results.

ABSTRACT

In this study, the molecular structure and vibrational spectra of 3t-pentyl2r,6c-diphenylpiperidin-4-one thiosemicarbazone (PDPOTSC) were studied. The ground-state molecular geometry was ascertained by using the density functional theory (DFT)/B3LYP method using 6-31++G(d,p) as a basis set. The vibrational (FT-IR and FT-Raman) spectra of PDPOTSC were computed using DFT/B3LYP and HF methods with 6-31++G(d,p) basis set. The fundamental vibrations were assigned on the basis of the total energy distribution (TED⩾10%) of the vibrational modes, calculated with scaled quantum mechanics (SQM) methods PQS program. The electrical dipole moment (µ) and first hyperpolarizability (ßo) values have been computed using DFT/B3LYP and HF methods. The calculated result (ßo) shows that the title molecule might have nonlinear optical (NLO) behavior. Atomic charges of C, N, S and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) were calculated using B3LYP/6-31G++(d,p). The HOMO-LUMO energies were calculated and natural bonding orbital (NBO) analysis has also been carried out.

ABSTRACT

The geometries, electronic structures, polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione (henna1), 3-(5-((1E)-2-(1,4-dihydro-1,4-dioxonaphthalen-3-yloxy) vinyl) thiophen-2-yl)-2-isocyanoacrylic acid (henna2) and anthocyanin dye sensitizers were studied based on density functional theory (DFT) using the hybrid functional B3LYP. The Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrum was investigated by using a hybrid method which combines the properties and dynamics of many-body in the presence of time-dependent (TD) potentials, i.e. TDSCF-DFT (B3LYP). Features of the electronic absorption spectrum in the visible and near-UV regions were plotted and assigned based on TD-DFT calculations. Due to the absorption, bands of the metal-organic compound are n→π(*) present. The calculated results suggest that the three lowest energy excited states of the investigated dye sensitizers are due to photoinduced electron transfer processes. The interfacial electron transfer between semiconductor TiO2 electrode and dye sensitizer is owing to an electron injection process from excited dye to the semiconductor's conduction band. The role of linking the henna1 dye with a carboxylic acid via a thiophene bridge was analyzed. The results are that using a stronger π-conjugate bridge as well as a strong donator and acceptor group enhances the efficiency.

ABSTRACT

In the title compound, C40H29N3O3S, the pyran ring adopts a sofa conformation, the thia-zolidine ring adopts a twisted conformation and the pyrrolidine ring adopts an envelope conformation with the N atom as the flap. The pyrazole ring is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.002 (2) Å] and forms dihedral angles of 4.8 (1) and 39.0 (1)°, respectively, with the benzene rings attached to the N and C atoms. The acenapthylene ring system is approximately planar [maximum deviation = 0.058 (2) Å] and forms dihedral angles of 85.9 (1) and 48.5 (1)°, respectively, with the pyrollothia-zole and chromene ring systems. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by three weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which generate one S(8) and two S(6) ring motifs. In the crystal, pairs of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules into dimers, generating R 2 (2)(14) ring motifs. The crystal packing also features pairs of C-H⋯π inter-actions, which link the dimers into a supra-molecular chain along the b axis.

ABSTRACT

FT-Raman and FT-IR spectra were recorded for 3-pentyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one (PDPO) sample in solid state. The equilibrium geometries, harmonic vibrational frequencies, infrared and the Raman scattering intensities were computed using DFT/6-31G(d,p) level. Results obtained at this level of theory were used for a detailed interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra, based on the total energy distribution (TED) of the normal modes. Molecular parameters such as bond lengths, bond angles and dihedral angles were calculated and compared with X-ray diffraction data. This comparison was good agreement. The intra-molecular charge transfer was calculated by means of natural bond orbital analysis (NBO). Hyperconjugative interaction energy was more during the π-π* transition. Energy gap of the molecule was found using HOMO and LUMO calculation, hence the less band gap, which seems to be more stable. Atomic charges of the carbon, nitrogen and oxygen were calculated using same level of calculation.

ABSTRACT

In the title mol-ecule, C(22)H(27)NO, the piperidine ring adopts a chair conformation, with all substituents equatorial. The dihedral angle between the two phenyl rings is 56.90 (5)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. A C-H⋯π inter-action involving the phenyl ring at the 6-position is also found in the crystal structure.
