ABSTRACT

Right anterolateral thoracotomy with exclusion of the pleura was successfully carried out in 14 cases of amoebic liver abscess. This approach is indicated for abscesses located on the posterior and superior surfaces of the liver. The operation is easy and rapidly executed. Selective drainage can be installed without any risk of pleural or peritoneal contamination, and the post-operative period is smooth.
