ABSTRACT

Rupture of the distal tendon of the biceps brachii muscle is easy to diagnose. For functional and cosmetic reasons the tendon to the radial tuberosity should be re-inserted. Two patients had early treatment, and one was operated upon after four weeks, all three with a good result. After treatment consisted of immobilization in a plaster cast with the arm in flexion and full supination for four weeks. Physical therapy is recommended. Complete functional repair and full recovery of strength can be expected in most cases.

ABSTRACT

A patient is presented with an isolated fracture of the first rib due to a fall from a bicycle. Although fractures of the first rib are often the result of high impact injury, these fractures may occur after trivial accidents and in several kinds of sports. The mechanism of fractures of the anterior rib in this typical localization is elucidated. The reason why serious neurovascular lesions are frequently seen in displaced posterior rib fractures caused by high impact injury is discussed.

ABSTRACT

Two patients are presented with an occlusion of the infrarenal vena cava caused by a vena cava aneurysm. This rare congenital vena caval anomaly may mimic retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy, especially on CT- imaging without contrast enhancement.
