ABSTRACT
La estomatitis subprótesis se considera un problema de salud bucal con elevada prevalencia en portadores de prótesis removibles totales o parciales. En el presente estudio se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal, con el objetivo de caracterizar el comportamiento de la estomatitis subprótesis, en el departamento de prótesis de la clínica estomatológica Héroes de Bolivia en Las Tunas, Cuba, durante el periodo comprendido entre los meses de septiembre de 2012 a febrero de 2013. La muestra estuvo formada por los 28 pacientes de 15 y más años de edad con estomatitis subprótesis, que recibieron atención en este período. Se midieron las variables edad, sexo, grado de severidad, tipo de base de la prótesis, años y forma de uso del aparato, higiene bucal y del aparato. La estomatitis subprótesis predominó en el grupo de 60 y más años, con 18 pacientes; las féminas fueron las más afectadas, con 23 pacientes. En 18 pacientes se detectó la estomatitis subprótesis grado II. El 100 por ciento de los afectados eran portadores de prótesis con bases de acrílico, el 78,57 por ciento la usaban por más de cinco años y el 75 por ciento de forma permanente. El 46,43 por ciento presentó higiene bucal y del aparato evaluada de regular. La estomatitis subprótesis predominó en los pacientes con rehabilitación protésica de acrílico, utilizada por años y de forma permanente, con higiene bucal y del aparato evaluada de regular. Existió prevalencia de la estomatitis subprótesis grado II(AU)
Subprosthesis stomatitis is considered a buccal health problem with high prevalence on patients with total or partial removable dentures. The present research is a descriptive, cross- sectional study that characterizes the behavior of subprosthesis stomatitis at the prosthesis department of the Héroes de Bolivia Odontological Clinic in Las Tunas, Cuba from Septiembre 2012 to February 2013. The sample was formed by 18 patients of 15 years old and over suffering from subprosthesis stomatitis who were treated within this period. The variables taken into account were age, sex, level of severity, type of denture base, years and form of wearing the denture, buccal hygiene and the denture´s hygiene. Subprosthesis stomatitis showed predominance in the age group of 60 years old and over with 18 patients; women were more affected, with 23 patients. Eighteen patients suffered from second degree subprosthesis stomatitis. All the patients had acrylic base dentures, 78,57 percent had worn them for over 5 years and 75 percent wore them permanently. The buccal and denture´s hygiene was regular in 46,43 percent of the patients. Subprosthesis stomatitis prevailed in patients with acrylic prosthetic rehabilitation, who had permanently worn the dentures for years and with regular buccal hygiene.
